    Thoughts on the build now that patch notes are out ? 60% on maelstrom instead of 80

    • @Athorax
      @Athorax 6 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา

      Hello - thanks for the good question. I left an in-depth explanation below but here's the TLDR : Build would've been a total overkill and easy mode before the nerfs, now with the nerfs - with a bit more theory crafting work and min maxing the build will just about be able to complete the very end game or be very near the top. I actually having been thinking about it throughout the day and whilst on work breaks and there are a few things to consider: For one - the gear I had in the video wasn't 100% min maxed(missing ranks of slaying strike, less than perfect masterwork rolls in some places, wrong ring stats and etc etc). So just on the premises of that even with the 20% scaling bonus nerf we get, if everything is min maxed that alone kind of more more or less compensates for the issue. Secondly, apart from that simple fact above, let's not forget about that with the new patch notes Prime Iron Maelstrom now grants us another 10[x]% (up from 40[x] to 50[x] now) and since every multiplier multiplies by the other multipliers as well it is safe to say that if we crit our Dmg To Injured % will be 10% more also. So if you truly look at it in the end the nerf is 10%. More or less so far -so good. However although those scaling 20% are the bigger chunk of the nerf, we've got to be fair and consider that they also nerfed both the apogeic furor legendary aspect (from 360% max to 200% ) and the Vehement's Brawler Aspect bonus ranks were downed from 4 to 2. With all that said, today after work I ran the new numbers through the up to date d4 dmg calculator I've been using[ bytemind-de.github.io/apps/d4/damage.html (highly recommend it if you got the desire/time to dabble into this kind of thing)] and honestly with everything I mentioned above in mind the dps went down from 6 Trillion to 4.7 Trillion. That's about a 27.6% drop in dps power. So yeah if there were no nerfs we could've had at least another 27% more power. But the thing to truly ask is - were those 27% and overkill and unnecessary anyway or will they be needed. Honestly from what I've seen and experienced from the build I think they were an overkill and will be fine without them. What I said in my first point will effectively bring us to that stage I was in the video anyway - and if that is the case we can easily say that with those kind of numbers and with the dynamic action and utility of the build we can easily reach pit tier 140 at the very least! Last but not least there's more room for growth and optimization in the build link I left in the description. That's what I am currently up to and will be updating it very soon with some new optimizations and dps boosts ( such as replacing the Warbringer Board with the Decimator Board for an extra multiplicative % group and more dmg and replacing the 2x 1 Hander Swords and getting rid of the Max Fury stats as a [x] dmg source through Ramaladni and instead replacing it with The Doombringer + 1x One Hander Mace For even more dps! Even though not min maxed in the video - the dps I had there was more than enough to reach pit 130+ . Even with the nerfs now we the stats should be reachable and even surpassable. Based on all of that I still believe the build will be in a very very good spot, maybe not supremely broken but still very powerful! The plan is to still go through with this build for the next season and see how far we can reach. I'll most likely be doing a 24 hour + stream from the start of the new season and find out anyway! Hope you have a nice season start too there, good luck!

      Heya - oh yeah hardcore since S3 - makes it more interesting for sure. I did kill Uber Lilith with a Frenzy Barb on HC at the end of S3 - there's a video on my channel for it. The weapon switch is made by pressing the ultimate weapon 3 times to finish the loop of the ultimate. Hope this helps - I'll be showcasing the build on stream as soon as S7 launches. Hope this helps.

      That's a very valid concern. I do believe with min maxing max life from gear ,paragons , damage reductions and being careful whilst carrying a max life masterworked doombringer and being generally cautious and careful can at least prevent us from being one shotted or walking on ice in general. Though if we do that.. and stick to swords we might loose some dps. My best idea for now is to stick to using doombringer + one one handed mace. It won't be as good as having 2 one handed maces, but it'll be better than having two swords for those endgame high tier pits. :)

      Actually at the the time of shooting the video I didn't have the Grandfather yet And now with it if you would kindly click on the img link : imgur.com/a/Ph8j2rM So yeah that's me with everything else + Grandfather and a 20% max life pot reaching 80k while wearing Tibaults. Just to note : Did not sacrifice upon damage reductions (still got max armor + rez 50% dmg red vs close, 38% fortified, 55% all dmg red, 20vs distant, 25% while healthy and whatever else I might be missing) I did sacrifice about 10-15% damage from the paragon boards, but to be honest I did work/think a good amount on those boards trying to reach the optimum and without loosing A lot of damage. You can reach those values if you follow the DPS version of the build from the link the description. The only thing you have to do is swap the Sword with the Edgemaster for the Doombringer. Next season : 160k life minimum with all the defensives and as good dmg as possible. My goal will always be to optimize and TANK up the barb without loosing TOO MUCH damage. Hope you have a nice experience on Season 4. Kind Regards!

    I was wondering if you could explain how attack speed cap works on barb.I want to make a frenzy barb but wanna make sure i don’t chase unnecessary attack speed affixes if i don’t have to.

    • @Athorax
      @Athorax 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Heya! I actually played Frenzy for the whole of Season 3 and based on my experience Frenzy's attack speed is capped at a 100% bonus increased attack speed. I tried going above 100% for Frenzy specifically combining - Moonrise(20% basic) +2Hander Rapid Aspect(60%) + Battle Trance( 5 stacks grant you 100% IAS) + Heady Assault Elixir (20% IAS). That should give me 200%. However when I went to the dummy I did not see any visual/audio difference between having 100% or 200%. I do believe that the increased attack speed cap for Frenzy is 100% - just as it is the same for most other abilities. What I can confirm is that you can DEFINATELY tell a difference from 0 to 100% increased attack speed. So you do need to reach 100%. And above that I do not see the need for you to invest further more. But do consider this : You can reach 100% easily with the Battle Trance Amulet. It will provide you with 20% increased attack speed for every stack of Frenzy. The issue is that it takes about 2-3 seconds to ramp up to 100%. So as you begin fighting you will feel a bit sluggish and at the same time if you loose the stacks - you start from scratch. Thankfully next season there is a tempering manual to increase your frenzy duration. But still it won't be always ideal. Having some (base) attack speed will definitely help you to reach that 100% cap faster if you loose your Frenzy stacks. I personally wouldn't over invest too much into it though. I would go as far as having only 20% (base) attack speed. You can reach that with Gloves + The Duelist passive on your skill tree. Even if you do not use the battle trance amu you will receive 60% while you have 3 stacks + if you are going Frenzy you should be using Aspect Of The Moonrise so that gives you another 20%. So that will get you to 100%. Even though it's a bit of an overkill - the furthest I would go is reaching 40% (base) attack speed by having Duelist + Gloves IAS + 1 attack speed affix on one of your weapons. Going for more attack speed beyond this point for the sake of quality of life seems like a waste to me. Hope this helps! :)

      @dujezebic2423 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thank you very much for the detailed answer.I was thinking about ignoring the duelist and investing those 3 points in some defensive passive.Attack speed from gloves + moonrise+rapid aspect seems like an ok combination to ramp up to 5 stacks of frenzy fast.

    Sadly, Frenzy can output faar more, easily in 1,5 - 4,5mil. range, forget the EQ, use the two hander for basic skill aspect, it doubles your dmg just like Grandfather doubles crit dmg.

    • @Athorax
      @Athorax 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi! You are absolutely right! Frenzy can absolutely deal a lot more damage. And I touched a bit about it in the video. If you check the link to the build in the description there is a full dps variation of Frenzy. Sadly I've still been unable to acquire Grandfather even after 500 Duriel runs. Just with Tibaults and a by using One hander blade with an aspect instead of the Doombringer I reach about 4 mil as max hit. Once I get the Grandfather I suspect I will be getting 6 mil crits. :P Damage is definately welcome, but the one thing to know is what content you're facing and how much defense you need. Especially in Hardcore. Also - If you're referring to Aspect Of The Moonrise - for the basic skill damage -that's been put on my 2H Hammer(so I can make use both of it and GF) - and it's also on the build sheet. :P

    Very nice build, gave me a some very good ideas! Talking about ideas: What about "Aspect of the Undying" as the second def aspect? Something I learned from The Division 2 is, it doesn't matter how much armer/life you have, but how fast you can regain it. A max. Undying aspect gives you 2% life per skill cast, which should stack up very nicely with Frenzy and its Attack Speed, right? Haven't found the aspect on my eternal barb yet, so I couldn't test it.

    • @Athorax
      @Athorax 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Heya! Thanks for watching and I'm glad you got some ideas out of it. As far as Undying goes - I had a good amount of thinking about it back when I was levelling. My response might take a while: So I consider Undying to be another way of self-healing similar to the skill tree passive ''Raid Leader'' combined with the three barb shouts. If I am to choose between the both I would go with Raid Leader + The Shouts. With the right usage and cooldown reduction the shouts can provide a better uptime and coverage, because no matter if you are in melee range hitting something or not, they heal. I think having only one out of the two self-healing options for Season 3 is more than enough. But looking at how things are going to be for season 4 with the diminished damage reductions from gear and overall us taking more damage - having both Raid Leader + Undying stacked on top of each other might actually be needed and useful. Especially if you think about the new helltide boss and how she applies fire explosions on top of players and how multiple explosions happen due to melee players being close to each other. Another issue I saw when I was thinking weather to use it or not is that having both raid leader + undying at the same time , messes with me being fortified. And due to the self heal you always end up having more HP than fortify. Ofc while Rallying Cry is active Frenzy contributes to fortify generation very very well, and on top of that the earthquake's pulsating damage from ground stomp adds up even more fortify which is great. But once rallying cry is over and on CD - the self healing overtakes fortify generation and that's the moment you stop benefiting from damage reduction while fortified. The reason I went with Numbing Wrath is because it works really well with me being a frenzy, not spending and always being at max rage and thus converting any extra rage I generate on top hitting or being hit into fortify. It's not ideal but this way the fortify generation does it's best to keep the pace with my self healing. And As you might know different damage reduction groups stack with each other so I feel that it's better to have stacks of different groups, since that provides even less fluctuations in HP dropdowns. Undying will definitely keep you alive, as long as you're hitting, but with one less damage reduction group such as fortify being active less than all the time you will get to have bigger HP fluctuations. If you can somehow figure out a way to provide a constant fortify generation without Numbing wrath - then that would be awesome!! :P I thought about using the fortifying support from the seneschal this season - but the issue is - it seems to be even less reliable than numbing wrath. Still it's not the worst. YOU could choose to remove raid leader and stick to Undying only. Especially if you don't use a lot of shouts in your build. But you are right - undying works like a charm with Frenzy. It syncs well. You could probably get a bit better sync between Undying and Numbing Wrath compared to raid leader. But then you will loose ''all damage reduction'' from not using Aspect Of Might, or not have enough space to add disobedience or juggernaut which are even more important. So if you got enough slots , especially before getting Shako - then sure definately do it. Because of the lack of legendary aspect slots for Frenzy in late game, I feel like Undying is more of a leveling aspect, especially before you are able to bank a lot on fortify generation and dmg reduction while fortified. Still - you can make it work. Undying with the right talent and gear build can be made to work! :) Also, undying, same as Raid Leader both benefit and provide extra healing the more willpower - and usually people acquire about 500 willpower so that's 50% increased healing effect for both. I also had an idea where I combine Undying + Raid Leader + Temerity - but gave up since I loose too much damage reductions and a legendary aspect slot with Temerity. But for next season - it might be something to try! I hope this helps - that's my way of seeing it. Thank you for spending the time to read this. :)

      @@Athorax thanks for the elaborated answer! Right now, I'm not using Raid Leader nor Undying, so I'm purely living off of Healing Potions without any issues. But then again, I usually only do end-80 NMDs, as they drop 100% 925 gear and my glyphs are all 15+. My def aspects currently are Juggernaut and Might, and there's really nothing coming even close to being a threat, so I'm pretty confident about losing Might for Undying, but we'll see. From my POV, Might might (haha) work pretty well, since I'm not using the earthquakes to stay in, but I'm constantly moving and close to the enemy. My whole build is slightly different from yours, with Kick and WotB, but yours inspired me to change my paragon board to unlock an additional glyph. Love it so far :) Have a nice weekend!
