Nice matching set. One of the trains should have departed first, before the coal train came in. Always clear at least one platform track first, before bringing another one in. Sometimes, coal is dropped off at a station, so the fire in the station cafe can be replenished. Let's see that happening, instead of going to the coal staithes all the time.

This is how a railtour runs. Step 1: stinky diesel arrives with full rake of coaches and stays put. Step 2: Oliver Cromwell and Support Coach back down on the other end and couple up. No run round needed. Step 3: Oliver Cromwell departs with the full rake of coaches and the diesel in tow behind. This minimises the risk of lineside fires. The diesel also provides banker power up a steep hill, depending on the gradient. That's the way it goes in real life. If Oliver Cromwell needs to be turned, then she alone is uncoupled to be turned on a turntable or triangle, before returning to the train and continuing onwards. This usually happens at one of the through stations. I wish I could see the engines working flat out on your railway. As she moves away from the station, Oliver Cromwell gradually picks up speed, she doesn't go slow as a snail.

This goods train is short, so the Pannier Tank Engine ought to have taken it back. However, it depends on the weight, so sometimes a Collett Goods tender engine would be called upon to take the strain. How many steamies do you have altogether?

5764 is GWR so she's the odd one out for a first. In the 1960s, many GWR engines were kept reasonably clean. Cleaner than Southern steamies. My theory is the GWR had a few followers more than the SR. What do you think?

Not always the case. Summertime in Westhaven is holiday time for enthusiasts, with the hustle and bustle of passengers filling 7-coach trains to capacity. A GWR Manor engine would be hard at work, in full cry, taking holidaymakers to the seaside. It's a pity we won't ever see that sort of thing on your railway. I do wish we could.
