    what about making destroyed lands being a mechanic, ill call them dead lands deck, a deck that focuses on destroying your cards as much as possible. this would add interesting interaction to the game and can add new cratures that get buffed by dead lands

    wandering baldman could have a specialized effect called wandering, it could be sent to enemy land and disrupt character flow by constantly being in your characters way or filling up space which is a viable strat , thats why jake has teleport card in ocw, just my guess. Or he just doesnt have any cards better for his deck than wandering at that point and is just deck filling with wandering baldman

    At 8:56 you talk about the new decks and say that lands comes with forced additions (which is a great idea!), but what about those added cards become better the more of the same land you have? That could maybe solve your problem at 10:30 (where you said that you would like to avoid players only having the most powerful creatures, while just one having land/biome.)?

    I would be very surprised if this game hasn't at least been recommended or furthermore, referenced for concepts, but: Keyforge is strikingly similar to the game you are putting together here. Its to the extent that you could take a card from this game, toss it in keyforge and it could go unnoticed. This is to say that I would really recommend cross referencing it if you ever need some ideas on how crazy card games handle absurd situations. Some very useful rules Keyforge has that I think could solve some of your problems include: Randomized decks. yes, keyforge sells packaged, completely randomized decks, even including randomly generated names and art for the backs of cards. with that in mind, cards have rarities (the more 'powerful' ones being rarer), and some cards come bundled with other cards to support them. For example, the card 'Niffle Queen' gains power when other 'Niffle' creatures are in play, and so decks that have a Niffle Queen always have at least 2 Niffle Apes. This could help with the whole deck building aspect, giving players the freedom of unique decks while still limiting them from just picking the most OP cards. Tag systems. Keyforge gives every creature card 1-2 tags which describe the creature, such as robot, scientist, beast, imp, etc. You've already incorporated this feature, and quite well at that, but I think it could be very insightful to see how another game does this system. Artifacts: These cards in keyforge are basically action cards that are on the board and can be used at any time, thus bypassing cards-in-hand-limits. My comparison here is that they are similar to buildings. Take for example Mother Gun. It allows the owner to show a certain amount of cards, and deal 1 damage to a creature for every card shown. once again, would just help to look at these cards to give you an idea for how to balance buildings, since you state that they're rather weak at the moment. I think you could take some inspiration from a lot of the features in this game without ever breaking any canonical rules from Card Wars in the process. I hope that this can help you in some way and good luck with development!

    I figured the worker mechanism functioned with a character and maybe their given ability or attributes. We see a corn man on the slot, who is then kicked off by a wizard, who I'd assume has better stats, meaning he can do the job better OR he fits the role better, like a magic academy would need a wizard more than a corn man. It would be like offering a better card/character for a better chance at the economy.

    In regard to the attacking gaining money in the video, I’m curious to know if a pillaging mechanic would help make attacking more viable if your opponents are expecting to play control with the economy. It might be a good way to have aggro vs control be more of a plausible scenario, and would alleviate the need for your deck to produce its own economy to explore something along the lines of an aggro deck building up to bigger cards.

    I have a suggestion for deck building how about adding card levels (kind of like yu-gi-oh except they serve a different purpose) for example let's say the Immortal Maize Walker is a level 10 card just make it so that you can only have up to 2 level 10-12 cards in your deck and Wandering Bald Man can be a level 1 card and you have to have 5 level 1 cards in your deck and make it so that level 1 cards are kinda like wild cards where depending on the situation they can be really good or really bad like with the Pig that could be a level 1 creature that is only good against corn fields but otherwise useless. Or maybe just have them be terrible but needed on the field in order to summon a higher level creature or something like how the Wandering Bald Man was in the useless swamp when jake summoned the Immortal Maize Walker maybe what makes the Wandering Bald Man useful is that he goes from Land to Land and it can let you summon high level creatures in different lands while only having one low level monster on the field. It's probably possible to combine a level mechanic with your idea of deck building in order to allow players to have some control over the cards they have while still making it chaotic And with Worker Placement maybe it makes sense that the Structure protects the worker think about Finn's Pig couldn't be attacked by another Creature because it was in the cave of solitude (but maybe that's a structure exclusive ability for the cave of solitude) also the Ancient Scholar being inside of a Structure allowed it to learn the Raise The Dead ability so maybe placing a Worker type Creature onto a Worker Slot shouldn't always give Money but can have them gain an ability and either that ability is random or they can only learn a specific ability or even make it semi-random with them having a limited number of abilities that they can learn but have the ability they learn be random idk it's your world son Edit: I rewatched the ep and Finn Activates the Ancient Scholar for it to begin studying a spell so idk if that would be the same as worker placement but maybe there's some sorta useful idea in all of my inane ramblings

    alright so what if, for the holograms, there are 24 little figures with those spinny things, you know the ones on which an irl hologram is created, and with an app on your phone you can pick any one of these 24 figures and send via wifi what creature it should display. This will make the game cost thousands of dollars, but it'd be totally worth it, i swear.

    something i think might be interesting waaaayyyyyy down the line since it would take up to much time, is to make a “game version” of the game, this project is focused on trying to make card wars fun and playable with the highest amount of show accuracy possible, but hopefully if you get a lot of success with this project it might be interesting to se a version that throws show accuracy out the window and focuses purely on what you think is interesting while stile maintain base card wars aesthetic, gameplay and cards.

    you can make money work the same way that counters do in yugioh. give certain creatures the ability to grant gold if a certain criteria is met, such as “when your opponent floops.. blah blah blah.. recieve one gold” and then you can set a “one per turn” limit if you want too

    interesting idea to make attacking more enticing. what if your stats don't represent the health and damage, but instead each number represents both, just one is for attack and the other is for defense. this does bring up the question of why do buildings have both, and uhhh idk. (actual idea for that problem, maybe its their hp, fallowed by a number that makes them damaged, what ever that will mean, maybe this could be another use for money, to spend repairing your buildings)

    on the topic of first player advantage, assuming you can't just pull a "first player can't attack on their turn" like many games do, I guess you could try giving player 2 some free gold. That being said I think at some point you might end up having to draw a line between "Here is the closest to a show accurate ruleset that can be realized, and here is the actually somewhat balanced ruleset modified from that framework" alternatively we all eventually come to the conclusion that Card Wars is just Tabletop Calvinball

    i'm sure it's been said dozens of times but I have basically no expectation that the showrunners put any meaningful thought into the mechanics of this fictional game and just did things for silly sight gags that are vaguely inspired by existing mechanics being animated out for how goofy they'd have to look in an actual context.

    This is super cool! I'd love to try it at some point! I do want to point out though: since you're insistent on making it show accurate, don't forget about how Finn's Wizard went to study and finished studying in his reaction phase. I don't know if you'd rule that as a card specific feature of say, Finn's Wizard was a worker that said something like, "If this card is in a worker slot in a library, Floop this card, during the next combat phase after this turn, you may resurrect a creature." Just wanted to highlight a detail I thought might have been missed, but depending on the interpretation, you're probably good. I guess what I'm worried about is the purpose of buildings and their interactions with workers and combat. Perhaps if a worker is in a building, that worker's HP is directly tied to the building as in: lose the cave with a pig inside = lose the cave and the pig (The cave was the only thing receiving damage.) Admittedly, I'm kinda struggling to follow the detailed rules, but I've always been the type of, "learn by experience." Good luck on the future endeavors!

    Definitely too many people are revolting against the randomness because they're approaching the game from a perspective of typical CCGs: Competitive Play. Yes the game is inherently a competition and I think the concept you're presenting isn't bad by any means, but folks need to also meet the game of Card Wars where it's at and accept the chaos/weirdness. Also now realizing you could probably pull a good bit from Millennium Blades for inspiration. Board game with the design about emulating playing collectible card games and includes buying "packs" for your deck. I also hope like it and the official Card Wars game that plans for release will be via a box with all you need to play, if not the entire card catalogue.

    You should consider a provision system! Gwent had this widely praised system of giving each card a "provision" cost, and you only had a set 35(?) provision (it could be changed slightly because gwent also had skills, and the more powerful skills gave you less provisions to work with in deck building). I know it might get tedious without the dedicated UI that gwent had, which calculated the provisions for you, but the familiarity of the concept makes up for it. It really feels like optimizing your build in an RPG, and as someone who loves deck building, I always had a great time and I think more games should use similar mechanics. The idea of lands forcing bricks into your deck sounds unfun, plus it seems like it would make it hard to keep deck size and I hate that a bit, but maybe that's just me. Also, if variance is what you are looking for, an obligatory 3 of a card that sucks just feels bad and sad and uninteresting.

    in key forge the player has to make 3 keys before your opponent does, you have to collect 6 ambers to forge keys, This means you have 3 losses to make a comeback. What this means is full board wipes or stealing Aren't broken like in other games. full board wipes would speed the game up.

    Idea for making the first player/second player thing less drastic (but also not show accurate): Have some kind of a draw action always happen on the ENEMIES turn. That way the first player has the first turn, but it’s not a „good turn“, as you don’t have everything you need yet. The second player then has the second turn, but the first „full“ turn. From there, since you always do this thing (be it drawing cards or smthg) in your enemies turn, nothing changes.
