    Because when the vets do it, they nip off the end of their nailbeds, which is the equivalent of clipping a piece of your finger! My dog had no problem until a careless person at the vet did that to her, so it is a learned fear IMHO. They think just because they put some powder on it and it quits bleeding, that it's nothing. Hmpf! I think all animals dislike the sounds machines make (especially hair dryers and vacuum cleaners) because their hearing range is much great and I think it pains them.

      Hi there pet parent! We have a hard grinder head for the tougher nails as well! If you are still having a hard time grinding them down we recommend using a nail clipper first if they are really long and then go in with the grinder.

    On my dog, I stay away from the "quick" by about 4mm. It is cruel to cut closer. You would simply have to cut the toenails more often, but your dog will appreciate it.

    This LOOKS like a good way to trim a dog/cats nails..BUT...BUT... It heats up the nails Quickly causing the pet to pull away!! Most people don't know how to use it correctly. U only use it like 3-4 SECOND'S at a time on,off on,off the nail. It's a small DREMEL TOOL. PLEASE be aware of this! And any battery operated collar on your dog ISN'T GOOD!! As a former Vet tech, once u see the battery acid burn on the neck of your beloved dog...u won't want another one!!

    • @luckytail8771
      @luckytail8771 ปีที่แล้ว

      1. Run your finger under the nail: a dewclaw needs trimming when it catches or hooks your finger. 2. Trim it back only until your finger slides off it easily. If you cut too far you will cause pain and bleeding. 3. Use dog nail grinder and make a quick, precise and confident cut.

    I like that this is so quiet and has a light. I'd rather see a regular pet owner using it than someone who is obviously into clicker training. If she goes to clicker expos (see her shirt), she's into positive dog training. Clicker training is great though.

    • @luckytail8771
      @luckytail8771 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Dark colored nails should be ground in several small increments to reduce the chance of cutting into the quick. Grind very thin slices off the end of the nail until you see a black dot appear towards the center when you look at it head on. This is the start of the quick that you need to avoid.
