I told myself that in order to feel satisfied with my piano progress in 2023 I had to come up with my own piece, and I did it. I finished composing this on December 30th and was polishing my performance until today. I cannot express enough how many issues I have with this piece: the performance itself, same chord progression all throughout the song (which might seem kinda boring), I could have ...

С днем рождения, папуля! This is my first time recording with a pedal. To me, my pedaling sounds a little off, and I struggle to figure out whether it's the quality of the recording or if I am using the pedal incorrectly. Any feedback would be appreciated:)
How the pieces that I learned sounded before and after months of practicing

I recently posted a video of my one year of piano progress (th-cam.com/video/FsPmKMB1eG8/w-d-xo.html), and I thought that some of you might be interested in how the versions of the pieces that I posted developed over months of practice. So here is a detailed progress of most of the pieces that I learned in 2022. Hope some of you find this relatable :)
1 year of piano progress (400 hours, self-taught)
มุมมอง 752Kปีที่แล้ว
Here’s my one year of piano progress. When learning, I didn’t really use any books (but I definitely should have and I practice with Hanon now), but I watched lots of TH-cam videos. I studied a 3-hour music theory course by Marcs Piano where it taught all kinds of different chords, scales, and some arpeggios I believe, and I practiced them all. I also watched beginner practice videos by Pianote...
Woow this is amazing! I am also a self taught pianist and so happy to see our self-taught community growing 🎉 keep it up! 💯
The fur Elise is goals
Good job. I am 53, trying to learn the piano. yeah. at my age. LOL I just always thought it was too complicated. But it's making sense. Thank you for the awesome playing!
This video is evidence that we're not lost! amazing! you did great!
I've been playing piano for around a decade now and picked it up when I was really young, though I never really enjoyed the instrument until I was a little older, maybe 14 or 15. Your passion definitely shines through in your playing, and I'm very impressed that you actually stuck with it! One piece of advice I would have would be to use the pedal and to vary your dynamics and speed. It adds a lot of character to your playing and if you do that, then you're going to be a pro in no time haha. Keep up the great work! You made my day ❤
that was beautiful, respect for your progress :D
my inspiration! i’m on day 4
This video inspired me to learn . Im 50s and i am learning alone a couple of days ago. Hoping that 1 day i can play good also like you❤
proud of you <3
I’ve been practicing for 4 years 😭
Congratulations!! Go on ❤
Amazing progress!
It's not easy to learn some of the pieces like Beethoven "Fur Elise". Many students who has a teacher would just play the top "easy" section of Fur Elise than the technical parts after. I don't see you reading music for many of the pieces so have to assume you memorized many of them. Nice playing. Keep up the good work...
the fact that you were playing fur elise 4 months in is so shocking im actually so jealous. I've been play piano for 8 years and didnt even attempt to learn fur elise until 3 years in. great job!
Really great job. I’ve played guitar professionally for years and have thought about picking up piano. This inspired me.
Love it! Love this song too! Need the inspiration to get back to learning and practice my piano.
Hello, I have a keyboard but I don't really know how to start learning, there's nothing on TH-cam and I don't want to pay for anything, although maybe flowkey piano is a good option? How did you start learning on your own?
Just the two of us was awesome
Lmao why is she wearing the motion tracking suit
1 month playing Havana? Wow! Greetings from Brazil!
really amazing progress...is there a reason you didn't learn with a sustain pedal? which is also kinda impressive ngl
Oh my god, these pieces are difficult!
Wow!
Wow! That's really amazing! I just started to learn the basics of electric keyboard. I regularly play the bass guitar. Please allow me to tell you that I noticed that your fingers are higher than your wrists. But as far as I understand from lots of youtube piano tutorials about technique and physical health, it is highly important that the fingers be curved in a way that the wrists are higher than them. Otherwise your hands will hurt seriously. Besides that, we should touch the keys with the tips of our fingers in a vertical way so that it's easier to apply more force and accuracy. Maybe you could achieve that by adjusting your bench a little higher to keep your forearms as horizontal as possible, parallel to the floor. Of course, it should be better to watch some videos of professional piano instructors. My words are just an urge for further research. I will watch your more recent videos later. And I wish I could see some of your drum and drum pad playing maybe in the future. Thank you for reading. Greetings from Greece and I wish you all the best.
When i first started playing piano, the song that i wanted to learn for the 1st time was Fur Elise, even if i knew it was a pretty hard one, and it took me somewhere around 8-9 months to play it almost "perfect". The fact that you played it so good in just 4 months its mind- blowing! I always was the person saying that if you love to do something, go and work for it, no matter what, so just keep up on doing what you love, please!
Do you have tiktok or Instagram?
Thx for sharing your experience in learning piano, honestly I dont know why youtube recommend this for me, but I can really feel your love in playing music. Also, hope your ultimate goal will acheive soon. Wish all self taught learner can be motivated by this video to act immedately as well.
heyy amazing work, where’d you get the sheet music for just the two of us? (:
Not a fan of the sustain pedal, huh?! Progress is incredible!
Think Pink! Mancini was a genious! Amazing that you got better so fast! One can see on your hands that they are as made for playing piano!
Great video, just started myself. Thanks for the inspiration. P.s I noticed lol
🌹
to all the beginners in piano y'all should (after a certain time) invest in a "sustain pedal" (15$ max) that'll change all the piece's atmosphere u playing
Omg, yes!!! This is exactly what I was talking about! Just realized your other video was older- Congratulations on all of your progress and thank you so much for documenting it!
Yo!!! This is amazing I’m so glad you did this and posted it. I see your goals for next year and know you will accomplish them all! I have one piece of advice for you, incorporate some breathing and relaxation techniques into your daily routine. When you can relax you can feel more into the music instead of intellectualizing it and in return you will become proficient at things like crescendos and decrescendos, you will evoke emotion in your playing. Definitely record and compose. You have everything you need to write music! Cheers!
Amazing
how many pianos you are using in this vidoe? did you do a upgrade is that same piano, which piano you are using?
I really appreciate this video popping up after I searched for good piano books for beginners I have been studying piano in school for 8 months now and I still have more than a year to go but.. I am still in your first month level (not to compare) just to say that I got even more inspired to work on myself Bc what I am taking in school is really boring mixed with pressure to make it seem exciting Keep up the good work you’re doing amazing 👏🏼🫶🏼
Wow, awesome video 👏! Inspiring.
Can I marry you?? Asking for a friend...😊
I started learning piano after 45 during the covid time. Still I practice 3 hours daily. I passed to electronic music now and got my Nord stage 4. I am producing background tracks for local musicians in Canada. But I am playing guitar since age 14 so I had some advantage while learning piano.
When will people finally stop misusing the phrase "self-taught"?..
You have chosen a wonderful path.
how do u actually handle the pedal?
I love the phantom of the opera! Can I ask what sheet music or which video you used to learn the version youre playing?
@@CS-ij8zh sure! It’s th-cam.com/video/tEuCZlB9E-Q/w-d-xo.htmlsi=UFSDhHaQossli5WE
I started taking lessons two months ago, and since day one, my teacher doesn't let me look at the keyboard. Enjoy your journey. 🎹
Cute
Wow i’m picking up piano at 23 now only around a month or so, not consistent and using my grandparents’s broke down piano so it’s kinda hard! But i’m gonna try keep doing this!, ur so cool!!!”
@@demantoid awesome, you got it! I started at 25 :) Try not to make the same mistakes I did. Less is more. It’s better to play easy pieces with relaxed hands to a metronome than complicated stuff with stiff technique and bad timing. I had to change my technique during my 2nd and 3rd years and it’s still sloppy. Consistency with practice is key :)
@@Zhenyamarushko aw, thanks a lot for the kind encouragement 🥰 highly appreciated
this is actually insane oml so proud
That's nice progress for an amateur. good job on not jumping to Chopin's or Liszt's etudes. For more advanced pieces you'll need to work with a teacher on fingers and sound extraction, but most can enjoy music even with this level
