When I used the x11vnc -storepasswd command, I was asked to "Write password to /home/usr/.vnc/passwd?" But if you're in #root, you will be prompted to write your password to /root/.vnc/passwd.

Do you realise that all of your commands are being executed in #root as opposed to $regular user? That makes a big difference. My password kept being denied because it was in the wrong directory.

Just ordered one along with a raspberry pi 4 battery pack and a 7" mini touch screen to make a "pipboy" (edit wifi dongle, too, to be completely wireless). Will it work?! WHO KNOWS! BUT, I will definitely be buying more, and your video REALLY helped me feel better about going with this little powerhouse. Such a great and thorough video, thank you. Definitely seems like the best rapberry pi alternative for my needs.

i was using it on windows. i had to kill through putty and get a new vnc server

my kali is not accepting my reboot command. I logged it out and when i logged in the screen was blank

well that was a fail.. SSH into my pi and followed the steps only to find the last bit you need to be on the PI gui to get it to work. im setting up VNC because i can only access it via vnc on my laptop.. any way to get this working through SSH?

This is a great tutorial. I followed your instructions, created my script, made it executable, then went into settings and made sure to make my script launch. I'm still having problems getting VNC to start at boot, it won't and then my VNC Viewer on my PC constantly tells me" host not found" even when I can see it on my network. Could you help me solve this issue? I really would like to make this Pi headless, but for now it still needs a monitor.

The download links aren't there anymore, and the guide that replaced them doesn't work. Armbian installs ok, but then when I install OMV the device stops working entirely, no SSH and it doesn't even come up in my DHCP config

Great video! I plan a similar thing, but since the Raspberry Pi 4 has two USB-3 Ports I'll probably use that one. My current concern: How can I backup the files? OpenMediaVault sadly doesn't supports any RAID configuration if the drives are plugged in via USB. How have you handled that? I really don't want to drop all my files and rely on a single drive...

Buy a suptronics x822 expansion board that supports 2 x 2.5inch hdd/ssd and you can connect the Renegade via USB 3.0 port. It will be an elegant solution. There are other boards as well. Thats what I am using.

Did you SSH into Raspberry pi with Putty to setup the initial VNC.

Raspberry Pi 4 is already out and it has an USB 3.0 so a Raspberry can be used for this purpose now. (And it has 2x USB 3.0 ports!)
