Hello, beautiful work, I wanted to know if I can get sheet music so I can play it for my school
Thank you! The link should be in the description - if it doesn't work please inform me. When practicing and playing, feel free to make adjustments as you see fit :)
Hi fellow Sch!
Greetings 👋
This is beautiful, honestly feel inspired. Loved the harmony around measure 172 and what comes right after, what is it?
Glad I could inspire someone :) Measure 172-174 could be interpreted in a multitude of ways, but I thought about it as a 4 to minor 4 to dominant, with the cromatic movement in the thirds as the bass. The Dm7 is actually a Bb79, just drop the bass. The dominant (m174) then resolves to the subdominant Bb instead of the tonic F, leading into A7, the dominant to the parallel minor key. Then it's just a II-V-I in the dominant key, Dm - G7 - C7.
@@schlu Thank you so much, I tried to analyze that section for a bit, but was getting it wrong in some places, you are very helpful <3 And that sounded beautiful while still being mostly accesible to play and as a cello student and composer wanna be I can appreciate that a lot.
There are no composer wanna-be-s, only composers ;) One thing that helpes me a lot when composing is that I improvise in my free time. I gained a lot of harmony knowledge through exploring the keys, while analizing what I'm doing. I also looked at the most common chord progressions in jazz and used them as a basis for experimentation.
@@schlu True to that! Thank you for being so open to my question and kind enough to throw some tips my way, I'll be sure to learn something from there :)
Amazing bro ❤️🤌🏻
i love the baroque inspiration! after listening to the first part, i think embellishment in the middle voices-honestly having a strong, contradicting countermelody line-would do this piece a huge service. I’m rly impressed though and honestly, I hope I can one day get to your level of musicianship!
As I cellist and a composer, this is something that everyone should listen to. You are a really really good composer. ❤
Lovely Piece, well done.
Hi. What is the font you use for the title?
I use the standard font from MuseScore 4. It's called Edwin.
Thank you dude❤😊
This is actually insane how good this is. Man please make more compositions! This is such a great piece like all your others. Bravo to you good sir!
I'm on it! Doing my final exams right now, so I am sadly a bit stuck creatively.
@@schlu got it! Good luck!
this is lovely, was going to use it for a graduation that I am working until I saw it is present day work. Great work!
Thank you!
It like me! Thanks for sharing the score of Meditation No. 1 and No. 2, I'll will try to play it later.
Wow amazing👍
Que hermoso !!!!😱
Hermoso bro!!
Such a beautiful texture! :O
I would love to program this for one of my string orchestras. Please reach out if you’re willing to send me the sheet music.
Yes, I'll try to get the sheet music ready in the next few days. This means a lot to me. Thank you :)
I linked the sheet music is the description and seperated it into the different parts. I am still no expert at bowing and fingering, so feel free to adjust anything if need arises.
This is beautiful! Would you mind if I took a crack at it for my own channel? I'm looking to find and learn more music from fellow internet pianist-composers and I think this would be a beautiful piece to learn and record! :)
Go for it! I'd love to hear your rendition!
@@schlu Thank you! I'll leave a link as soon as I finish the project (maybe in 2-3 weeks) :)
Not resolving for the end was a masterful choice!

Beautiful piece, Simply great!!
Magic! This is absolutely quality stuff !!!!
Amazing harmony! This is absolutely quality stuff 👏 SUBSCRIBED!!!!🙂🌼💐
Thank you❤
Absolutely beautiful ! I really like it it's very sweet! ❤️
Thank you! Glad you like it.
It's a bit too loud for a lullaby (at least for me), but it's pleasant nonetheless, great job, Schlu!
Thanks. You're not wrong. I kind of thought about it more as a bedtime story.
@@schlu That would fit it more, yes, but even so - I like it a lot :D You can nail the name next time ;)
I love your pieces! You seem to write so well for cello, any chance you could write something for viola?
I play cello a bit myself, so I naturally lean towards writing for the Instrument. However - I would most certainly love to finish something for a larger variety of soloists. I actually have a bunch of drafts for all kinds of Instruments laying around 🤫
And Viola is definitivly one of my priorities. It is just such an incredible Instrument that combines the best characteristics of the cello and violin to make something so unique and beautiful. Just love it!
@@schlu :)
Amazing melody with wonderful harmony!
Thank you! I focused a lot on utilising the lydian mode and chords from the minor tonic.
Beautiful! keep experimenting pls
Again a wonderful piece of music. You might become my favorite composer one day.
Très agréable.! Quel logiciel utilisez-vous ?
I use MuseScore 4 to write and render my music.
Ok, merci !
Really lovely tune. I would love to hear this fully orchestrated, maybe with the cello in more singing register. May I ask, are you studying composition?
Thank you. I am just now finishing high school actually, but I do plan to start studying composition next year.
@@schlu That's amazing, you are very gifted and you've put in a lot of great work for your age. I was going to suggest a few things to you, but I think that you will learn all of them at a good university or conservatory. Just be sure to take counterpoint and orchestration soon; they will open your mind to possibilities. Any idea where you might go to school yet?
Counterpoint and Orchestration are both things I'm looking forward to learning extensively. I am not yet certain which conservatory to choose, but I have quite some options to pick from here in Germany. Essen and Cologne are rather close by, so I do lean towards them.
This is amazing! Your melodies are incredible. If I was only able to be a composer like you. I am currently writing my 2nd symphony but I still don't have such a feeling for melodies. You on the other hand are capable of doing it without any effort. The accompainment is also very good from a perspective of harmony. I am enjoying this work. Keep composing!
Thank you for the kind words! To make quicker progress in your compositions I would really recommend first writing for smaller Ensembles. Tackling a Symphony is the grandest thing a composer can do and can quickly be overwhelming. I don't feel at all capable of writing a Symphony. So. My tipps for you: 1. Scale it down. Symphonies are the final boss of composing. Gain experience by first confronting the common enemies. Limitations breed creativity - having too many instruments restricts what you actually want to achieve. 2. Learn four part harmony. This will result in more coherent melodies as a side product of more coherent harmonies. 3. One thing that helped me personally is actually to not catalogue my pieces. I have stopped using Opus numbers a while ago, because I realised that it makes me mentally mark my pieces as being set in stone. 4. Music theory is your friend and so is grouping phrases into 4 or 8 bar phrases. But the most important thing is: Don't stop writing! Composing is a wonderful thing! I actually think that you and I have much more in common than you might realise. We started in the exact same way. I have hundreds of drafts in my Score folder. I really hope I didn't come of as too pushy with my comment - I just wanted to give what helped me as an example on how one might improve more quickly. We are in the same boat here. I didn't write like this from day one. Nobody did. And oh how much I still have to improve: The staccato accompaniment gets too stale too quickly. I focused too much on the first Violin as the melody. The main and second themes don't feel distinct enough. Octaves in the outer voices are questionable. I forgot the coda. I could keep going, but I already stole enough of your time. You should be writing! I should be writing! Everybody should be writing! :)
@@schluDanke für die ganzen Tipps!
Love it! I always admired your quartet work but this is definitely something else awesome to add to your list of amazing pieces! :)
Hello, my father is a professional musician and plays viola in an orchestra here in Brazil, I would like to ask you to write a concerto for viola and string orchestra, and we would play it as a Brazilian debut, promoting your work and your beautiful music!
Thank you so much for reaching out to someone as new to composing as myself. Writing something bigger (like a Concerto) always takes quite a lot of time and headspace - which I can't quite offer at the Moment, since I am currently in midst my final high school exams. But I might actually find the time to invest, and feel inspired enough to commit to your request. We can discuss further details either over E-Mail, or Instagram if that's alright with you. You can find me under @Ben_Schlu on Instagram or through my "Business E-Mail" (which I definitly didn't just create a second ago) at schlueter.composer@gmail.com I'd be delighted to hear more about this idea - no promises though of course ;)
Could I play this quartet with my friends? I can't get the sheet music hello from Brazil
I'd be delighted. I'm currenly pretty busy, but I'll get to it soon enough. I'll comment again when the link is reworked :)
I have linked the sheet music in the description. Hope it works. Sorry, took a bit longer than I thought.
I wonder if I could play this concerto? I need the sheet music for the cello part
Give me 10 minutes
Ok, done! I added the Solo Part in the description. Thank you so much!
The sheet music is not final and I will add some fingerings and corrections after I consoled with my Cello Teacher next week. For example in mesure 135 you can switch the bottom E of the octaves for the empty A string - makes that part a lot easier.
Wonderful! The pastoral mood reminds me of Dag Wiren. Was that an inspiration?
beauty in simplicity
Ohh my god 😢 beautiful
Absolutely beautiful! Bravo! I wish I had written it myself!!! (And no, it doesn't lack a fourth beat 😂🤣😆, and the short format gives it all its charm! 🤗 like a short tune for a music box) Congratulations and best wishes for your upcoming compositions. 🎶🎶🎶
🤣 Yeah, thank you for the nice comment! I actually plan to enter into a composition competition with my latest upload. Stakes breed progress!
@@schlu All the best to you ! The world needs new music ! 😇
I really like the composition style, though I feel like the solo could be more virtuostic/expressive. Really fun waltz-y vibes though.
Thank you. I haven't been playing Cello for very long, so I am not yet perfectly familiar with the advanced technical aspects of strings. I always want to assure playablity and such so I like to test the fingerings myself. But I could step it up a bit - that's true. I might let my teacher show me a few more virtuos techniques. Thanks for the input!
OUTSTANDING! The textures throughout are incredible, you never fail to impress me Schlu!
Good stuff man! Just some constructive criticism if you don’t mind 😄 I love the waltz-y vibes that you’ve achieved (it’s almost Shostakovich)! I would add contrabass to make a full string orchestra-I think it’d give some power and depth into the texture. You also could consider changing the tutti’s texture especially during the solo cello parts-one of the most important things to keep in mind while composing a concerto for any instrument is the soloist vs the orchestra-you don’t want to overpower the soloist! This is some really nice stuff, and can’t wait to hear more of your music!
I will keep that in mind. Thank you!
Wow
when is it dropping on spotify?
Good input. Didn't upload anything on Spotify for quite some time. Might actually overhaul my Account when I have some time to spare.
@@schluNice, you’ve got me very impressed with this. I have composed a bit myself, but this is totally out of my league. 👏👏
Glad to hear. Learning by doing. I literally have hundreds of unfinished sketches on the PC. Have manly just been composing for the past 3 years. It's the most fulfilling thing I can do :)
I am so glad that I know your music. Just awesome.
Good god man! I could not tell that the solo cello wasn't real.. or maybe it was? Wow. That is great writing.
Thank you so much! Sounds convincing, doesn't it?
What sound library does the solo cello come from? I would love to use it.
