FIRST START!! My e46 runs after swapping the engine :)
In today's Episode, we finally get the e46 started and to my surprise it runs on the b22 map. In case you missed this project, we swapped an m52b28tu into an ms43 powered coupe. This should leave us with a 320ci with around 220 hp. We power through many things like repairing the cats, installing our upgraded garagistic shifter bushing kit, reinstall the rest of the drive line and diagnose our no crank no start condition. After some troubleshooting we get it started after hooking up a cable I forgot. Oops. Unfortunately there are still many things to fix to which I won't get in this Episode. In the next episode we will finish the software side of the swap, and then we should hopefully have a reliable e46 coupe :)
If you want to contact me with questions, info, ideas or whatnot, find me on instagram. Link is in the channel description.

      @TheSaemiProduction @TheSaemiProduction Same :) Unfortunately we still have exhaust leaks and coolant leaks. I fixed a major coolant leak under the intake manifold. The block was damaged at the mating surface of the water pipe :( So I had to resort to silicone. Also my radiator is leaking coolant. Yes my new radiator is already dead :( I bought an all aluminium racing radiator which hopefully comes in sometimes next week :)

    Great channel and great series about E34! As @daneitor97 said it is the best for M51D25 ... and not only for 2024. I was searching for such content for a long time but never found so detailed. Glad to see there are still people who appreciate vehicles of this generation. I never expected to see a young man in such videos :) . I have a 1996 E38 with the same engine and I am doing some DIY repairs. I was planning a timing chain check and replacement but was afraid to start such repair, knowing how complex it is. But your videos brought me more confidence and I will use them + the BMW TIS when (or if) I go into this. Now some experience of mine: Regarding the noise - maybe it could be from the damper pulley. There are three arc metal pins situated at 120 deg coming out of it (if you look from the front (not sure if I am clear)). If there is wear on them that means the rubber part is corrupted and the relative movement between the part that is bolted to the crankshaft and the V-channel part has become big and the rattling is coming when these pins are hitting against the metal. Regarding the consumption - mine is about 7.5 -7.8 l/100km when cruising with 90-100 km/h and goes to 8.3-8.5 l/100km when driving on highways. Of course the E34 is lighter than E38 but below 8 l/100km could be ok for this generation of vehicles. Greetings and I am curious to see more stuff on your channel!

I still have the car and the noise hasn't changed one single bit :)

    hi! I have opel omega B 1996" with the same engine m51 (engine tag x25DT). Where can I get an ALDL diagnostic cable and what program is used, where can I find it? I have a connector under the steering wheel with 16 pins, but it is older than the OBD standard.I have a problem, the car is very difficult to start when it is standing for half an hour - an hour after driving. And it loses a lot of power when it's very hot outside. By the way, the car has only 98,000 km, but it has been in the garage for 19 years. Sorry for my bad english... your videos are the best :)

    • @DailyDrivenClasssics
      @DailyDrivenClasssics 19 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @ThePodunavac @ThePodunavac Hi,Unfortunately I dont know where you can find a diagnostic tool for your omega. If done a bit of googling and found some sites that offer scanner for the m51 variants if I'm right. The hard starting (cranking for 1-4 seconds ) when its warm is because on m51 the lift pump and glow plugs don't work when the engine is started in the hot. If you mean really hard to start I would look into the fuel pump timing that might be off despite the low mileage. I would check live values with a scanner and go from there. And the loss of power when really hot outside ( 35 degrees celsius) is also normal to a certain extent. the air is a lot less dense, and an m51, an old 2 valve indirect injection diesel is really inefficient. Also x25 dt didn't have an intercooler so the issue gets exacerbated. I could feel a large difference between driving at 7 degrees c yesterday and at 30 degrees 2 months ago soi guess it's "normal" to a certain extent. I hope I could help :)

    Just bought E34 with 345k miles on it. no rust I'am second owner. Soo far I made it just to look better visually. from USA to European style. Engine works great thank God. But in future I probably have to change all gaskets everything... . I'm thinking about cloning ECU just for future. just in case better safe than sorry. I did just small first works on car. (oil, reostat, blower motor change and belt) but so much ahead but its already eating money like crazy. But that joy what it brings its worth it!
