Negotiate Price or Interest Rate on Your New Home Purchase?
Best way to contact you ….?
so another place that doesn't have to pay taxes, but the residents of Mauldin now have to pay higher taxes because of this place..
All i want is to be away from dark forces that harrasses other peoples life due to trying to live in a positive manner. I need a personal safe and secured place of my own to stay and a job. SIMPLE! I dont want tobe forced to be with someone to survive and get used. Nor i dont want to be used. Ive been homless for to long.
That's not too much to ask at all. I hope things turn around for you 🙏🏿
I’m originally from “up north” and have lived in Louisiana, Texas, and Mississippi, but let me tell you, I’m a Northerner who absolutely LOVES Greenville just the way it is. The slower pace of life, the balance of things to do (not too much, but not too little), it’s just perfect. Maybe it’s because I’m originally from a small roller coaster city in Ohio (if you know, you know). Thanks for the video and the channel! Many of my family have relocated to Greenville County, and we’ve all fallen in love with the city. Even the "Bible Belt Hours" LOL
Haha yeah those hours take some getting used to! But yeah I know Greenville is a big change from Sandusky and all those other places so I'm glad you're happy here! Thank you so much for watching!
Where should I go to see homes for sale in Greenville? What's the best way to explore the different neighborhoods? Considering a trip there to explore options.
My website RenaldoPowell.com has all the homes for sale in the area, so that's a good place to search. There is only so much exploring you can do online using TH-cam and Google street view. Outside of that, you can call me and I'll help anyway I can
I lived in Greenville, Sc for 2 years. It's nice...but, the land mass isn't big enough to handle the growth. Traffic on 85 is bad from Pelham Rd to Route 14. Woodruff Rd is the worst major road in Greenville and they have more accidents than a little bit. With that being said, it's still a nice city....but, Spartanburg had my attention and I moved there.
You can get a lot of bang for your buck in Spartanburg so I don't blame you. It's growing really fast though too so hopefully they get the infrastructure ready for it there too
@RenaldotheRealtor I agree....and I'm ready for the growth. Our paths to the south are sorta similar. If you have an email, I'll explain.
Yeah absolutely, my email is renaldo.powell@remax.net
I moved here too and I love it here the best moved I have ever done .
I'm so happy for you! Where did you move from?
Greenville, SC is a great city!! #yeahthatgreenville
I couldn't agree more!
Wife and I just got back from there and went just to check it out for future possibities coming from south Florida and honestly its cute but not enough to trade in here for there, I really wanted to love it. We drove through all the suburbs and found my favorite were the Simpsonville/Fountain inn area but all in all the areas I liked were not cheap enough for me. Nice homes are $450k and up it seems.
@jonathansansone8025 I'm glad you took a visit to feel it out for yourself. That's the best way to tell if it's really for you or not. What do you love about Florida?
Wow, I used to hang out in Greenville back in the 90s. It doesn't even look like the same place anymore from the videos I have seen. It has grown A LOT.
@ebonylamb4871 Yeah you will be blown away by the difference now. New stuff is being added every day
Hey Welcome to Greenville I moved to Greenville from Pelzer S.C. We live downtown and I love it.❤❤❤
@frankiedankie Aww thank you! Downtown living is so cool! I bet you walk around a lot more now than you did in Pelzer
Thank you for the video. I appreciate the questioning of various residents- it is honest feedback. 👍
Thank you for watching!! I'm glad you found it helpful! 🙌🏿
I was born and raised in Greenville and moved to Simpsonville with my family in the early 80s. I went to Hillcrest High School, Class of 1986, and I left Simpsonville in '88 and moved back to Greenville. I was so happy to get back to Greenville, although Simpsonville is basically Greenville; I was just happy there were more things to do. Simpsonville was boring back then, but it only had 10 thousand residents as opposed to what's there now. I have been driving to Simpsonville a lot over the last 3 to 4 years, and I have to say it feels like home, although I love living in Greenville. Simpsonville just seems right for some reason, and my older brother moved back and is doing very well there. I may sell my house and do the same; a lot of people still know me and ask my brother about me all the time.
Thanks for sharing your story! Im glad your brother is doing well. If it feels right, I say go ahead and make the move!
@ 👍🏾💯
That is one reason I don't like Simpsonville. The train track is in downtown.
Yeah its definitely a hate it or love it type of thing
As always, I so enjoy your style and videos! We are renting a new home in Simpsonville (close to the Mauldin border) awaiting the building of our home IN Greenville. One thing I’ll say about Simpsonville, the traffic is ridiculous. There is no time of day between 6am to 9pm that it’s not congested. As you know I came from the Detroit area so I’m use to traffic and driving…but the congestion is real. I think it’s because more roads wind about and not as much of a grid pattern for traffic. Simpsonville is definitely NOT walkable! The downtown is tiny and not a lot there. Fairview, Harrison-Bridge, West Georgia Rd are crazy with traffic. The roads are busting with traffic and the infrastructure is in dire need of improvement. The restaurant scene is not that of Greenville. There’s a plethora of Mexican restaurants and lots of pizza places especially. Nothing for “fine dining” other than Stella’s. Is it good for young families and children? Yes. For retirees and singles? No. Is it an affordable? Yes. Just a Detroit gals opinion from 7 weeks of living in Simpsonville. Thank you!
@CarolJoyable Thank you very much for your opinion! It's valuable to hear from people who have lived in Simpsonville. You're right about the grid pattern vs what we have here. In Detroit it's easy to just take the next street over. Here, there are way less options, and you have to be really familiar with the area to avoid traffic
You seem to be aware of what is a walkable town or not walkable which I’m eagerly seeking. Have you come across any walkable towns in that area? I’m familiar with downtown Greenville being walkable but we’re looking for another walkable area that is more affordable than the downtown Greenville. Any thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks 🙂
@@jimdehart9196I’m not sure if you were asking ME or Renaldo? I’ll answer what I know… Mauldin is not walkable at all and the borders blend into Simpsonville but is the closest suburb TO Greenville. Easy to get to dntn in 15-20min. Mauldin built a huge structure (looks like you’re in Italy- odd architecture for SC!) but very cool once you’re on the property, located off 385). It’s their answer to a walkable dntn. It houses several restaurants, nail salon, boutiques, coffee shop, markets, and has on site living accommodations. And a massive parking lot (free). It’s a weird concept but at least offers nice services and is walkable. But it’s a drive to destination so doesn’t feel like a downtown. Greer is a very walkable small area. The downtown portion where the park, stores and few restaurants and businesses are. It’s a good 35 min to dntn GVL but it’s the one suburb that actually IS its own city with a distinct look. It’s most lovely at nighttime with a fantastic upscale restaurant there called ‘Select.’ Part of Greer is in Spartanburg County where property taxes are considerably less than in Greenville County! But the geographic border of the city is very oddly shaped. Fountain Inn (a good 40min southeast from downtown Greenville) is getting developed into a nice little area. Five forks is all spread out in lovely subs and nice houses with bigger yards- upscale esthetically pleasing area, but it has no downtown. It has easy access to Woodruff rd where everything is and NOT AT ALL walkable. You’d probably get run over anywhere on woodruff rd.! But the area is very pretty and many many large well maintained homes and properties. Not walkable. No city area. Easley (35 min west from dntn GVL) has a small walkable area but doesn’t feel city-like). Travelers Rest (20min north of dntn GVL) is basically one long strip of town with a handful of businesses but has a look and feels like a small area of town. Not many homes near that area but spread out. It’s very country looking, rustic. Piedmont (about 20min southwest of GVL) is getting revitalized but has a looong way to go. But there are some nice sun communities there. It’s also close to the highway and easy into the city. That’s my two cents! I know Renaldo will offer more information as he is an expert. Renaldo, please delete my comment if I stepped in wrongly.
@ Thank you for the in-depth commentary. Yes, I was asking you because you seem to have good awareness in regards to “walkable”. Not very many people pay close enough attention to it including area specialist like realtors. I am in need of a good and safe walkable community for family members that can’t drive. Your information was very informative. Thanks again!!!
@ You’re very welcome. Hope you can visit for a week and see each community so you feel confident in your decision. Thats what I did before moving here. And now I will wait nearly a year for our home to be built close to downtown GVL! All the best to you and your family! P.S. the city of Spartanburg is developed and very walkable. Idk much about it but for it has some good restaurants and is a distance from GVL. Depending on traffic and route and time of day, 45-60min is what I’ve read…it is u like GVL but def its own city with its own look.
Great stuff. Simpsonville is wonderful. Some of that traffic can be avoided. They do need more parking downtown. It is a great place. The hard part is that there are many great places to choose from. You could make the same video for each suburb. Many of them certainly could be the best.
@gooney0 Thank you! And yeah, there really are a lot of great Suburbs. And each one gives you something a little bit different
My sister works there
@@Steelers-Fan99 That's cool! What does she think of it?
How do you compare Greenville to Myrtle Beach? I’m looking to relocate. Both areas are appealing.
@4mydawgz They are very different cities so it depends on what you're looking for. Myrtle Beach has more tourist based attractions and Greenville has a more balanced economy. Greenville has twice as many people as Myrtle Beach in both the city and the metro area. The way the city is built is quite different too so it's apples and oranges
@@RenaldotheRealtor thanks. im planning to visit Myrtle Beach in December to get a feel for SC. Then possibly Greenville or Columbia.
@4mydawgz That's a great plan! Whenever your Greenville visit is near, let me know. I would love to help you figure out if it's a good fit for you
Great video! Just closed on a home in five forks. Moving the family from south philly. We bought remotely but I flew down for inspection. It honestly felt like a different country then what I'm used to. How America should be.
@matthews.9464 Congratulations on your new house! Five Forks is a really good area to live in so I'm glad it feels like the right place for you!
Spartanburg has a rich history with NASCAR and there is a TH-cam video about it called The Town NASCAR Forgot. The Talledega Raceway was originally going to be built in Spartanburg and there is also a video about the Spartanburg-Talledega connection.
I didn't know that fun fact!
Nice sunburns around spartanburg with acreage would be good. Haven't been to spartanburg yet. Were in the process of taking a week again to look at different areas.
@@silkemueller1391 Thanks for the suggestion! I'll put that on my list 👍🏿
I love your videos, I already move 1 year and a half ago from north dakota, cause I was looking to get out of the cold weather, and search and search for the best place, and I found Greenville, I really love it here, the weather is the best thing ever, all seasons are unique and very prerry in North Dakota it was just winter and winter melting, Greenville is a great place, very central close to Atlanta, charlote, tennese, with the most beautiful downtown, and if you told me there is a prettier downtown than Greenville I wouldn't;t believe you.
Aww thank you!! Im so glad you love it here! And yeah Downtown is unbelievable! When we first visited Greenville it blew me away. Some people like huge downtowns like Atlanta, but Greenville's is the right size for me and my family. Do you miss anything about North Dakota?
Great video! How in the world did you end up in Seminole?? LOL
Thank you!! How I ended up in Seminole is a long story lol But the short version is i was bamboozled about a job opportunity

Hey! Yes the rent here is so much better than NY. You can easily rent an entire 4 bedroom house here for what the average studio apartment costs in Queens
I live in Charlotte but have been to Greenville thinking about buying there, but traffic could turn me away living in Charlotte, where traffic is crazy as well
Sounds like your Greenville visits went well! For you, how was the Greenville traffic compared to Charlotte?
@RenaldotheRealtor I stopped off 85 to get gas ⛽️ nice and seemed busy, but someone told me it's only that part futher out it's OK! Not bad as the queen city after graduation, I'm moving to SC for sure ..

WOW THANK YOU SO MUCH! 😊 Yeah planning a move is a big pain in the butt, no sugarcoating that! Lol I try to take as much stress out of the process as possible, so I'm glad to hear my videos are helping!
My reservations about moving to Greenville would be....1) Politics. I’m “middle of the road”. Are people open minded at all or strictly conservative? 2) Heat. 🥵 3) Religion. I’m not religious but I’m respectful to those that are. Will I be looked down on for not being religious too though? 4) Skeeters lol 🦟 (mosquitoes)
The state is historically Conservative, but there has been a diverse influx of political views thanks to people moving here from all over the world. So politically and religiously, Greenville is getting more diverse every month. You probably will get invited to someone's church every now and then though 😅 and the mosquitoes are relentless in the wooded areas or near ponds. The South in general has a skeeter curse lol
I moved from Tampa, Fl 4 years ago and I absolutely LOVE it here!
That's so great to hear! A TON of people are moving here from Florida so you might see some old friends around here soon lol
Another great video! These interviews of folks who live there are super helpful. Keep ‘em coming!
@@triplejoy77 I'm glad they are helpful! I'll definitely keep them coming! Thank you for watching 🙌🏿
I was thinking the same when i was there a couple of years ago. It should be a subway to not destroy downtown. Or close it off and have it as a pedestrian area only where only the tram is allowed to drive through. And then having 2-3 different train systems that go to travelers rest, pickens, clemson, fountain inn, simpsonville, greer and connecting to charlotte airport as well as greenville airport and to charlottes tram system. The rails are there. Its just a matter of building trainstations, promote them and keep them affordable as well as convenient for commuters. In germany where i grew up trams are driving from 5:30am or so until midnight. Rushhour ever 10 minutes and no rush hour every 20 min to 1h. Busses same thing but they run all night. That would be so cool and well progressive. But i would put the tram in the town underneath so its not destroying the flair
I would love to see that come to fruition! This place is going to keep growing now that the secret is out. So those are some great ideas that would really transform the area. Traffic is the main complaint people have so it's time for long term solutions like those
What questions do you want me to ask locals next?
Great video, Renaldo. Thank you! How about, "what's the best way to meet new people and find community in the area?"
I'm originally from Detroit Michigan as well but have lived in Arizona for 37 years and I am so ready to move away from here, I love the Mauldin South Carolina area sometime in 2025
@just4hisonlyglory 37 years is a long time in the desert! What do you like about the Mauldin area?
@@RenaldotheRealtor I love the peace, friendly people, I love to cook, so the fresh vegetables markets got Me!!
Fresh Ingredients are KEY!! I never knew how much of a difference it made until we started going to farmer's markets around here. I miss a few restaurants in Detroit, but nothing beats a home-cooked meal!
Im not racist, but i have noticed Greenville has alot of white people😂
Greenville is diverse...Greenville is 20% black and 65% white.

That's a fantastic idea! What's your full name so I can put you on the ballot for Mayor 😅
@@RenaldotheRealtor - Thanks there's a TH-camr who lives abroad and has traveled all over and noticed traffic is a problem in every city he's been to. He made a comment that got me thinking. He said traffic and congestion is one problem that all world leaders regardless of type of government or regime have decided not to solve and not to be bothered with. It can be solved if they wanted to; as seen from the long outdoor escalator in Hong Kong ( possible half mile long) to how effective travelators in airports are (they even call them moving sidewalks) to cable cars to bring you up mountains, monorails used even by Disneyworld for decades, various light rail systems, etc.
Yeah good point. I guess they have bigger fish to fry

Did Greenville get hit by the Hurricane? What are some natural disasters that occurs in SC?
Greenville was hit by Helene, which was technically a tropical storm when it got to us. It was devastating because this area doesn't usually have to worry about tropical storms or hurricanes. Since 1851, there have been less than 22 tropical storms, tropical depressions and hurricanes combined that have passed through Greenville county according to the South Carolina Department of Natural Resources. Earthquakes happen periodically in Greenville County, usually in the mountains near the North Carolina border. There are a couple fault lines up there. The quakes are usually too small for anyone to feel even if you are in the mountains when they happen. Wildfires aren't a big risk but they do happen in the forests. 98% of the time it's due to some form of human activity. With the largest one being from someone's camp fire they didn't put out on Pinnacle Mountain in 2016. So natural disasters happen here, but. Not too often and they are rarely devastating
@@RenaldotheRealtorI appreciate you taking your time to give me history on Natural Disaster in Greenville. I’m on the northeastern side and wanted some insight but now I’m a bit uneasy. I subscribed so I’ll look more into other videos. TY✨✨✨
You are welcome! Depending on where you are in the northeast, the frequency of many types of natural disasters are very similar to Greenville SC. Look into it for your area, and you might be surprised how much activity there actually is! And thank you so much for subscribing!
Hey Renaldo! I just moved here from the greater Detroit area. I’d choose you as my realtor had I not met another realtor after discovered his TH-cam videos last year. I watch all of yours and enjoy them so much.
Oh wow, that means a lot! Thank you! I know you're not missing those michigan winters 🥶 lol. Do you still have family up there?
@@RenaldotheRealtor Hello! We are renting at Baldwin Chase in Simpsonville until we can find a home that suits our needs. I’m hoping for Greenville and if not there, probably Greer. I find Simpsonville crazy with too much traffic. I also want more a a “downtown” location. We arrived three days before the storm hit. Chose GVL over Charleston to AVOID the hurricanes! Ironic right? Still have family but they’re in Lansing. Hubs remaining family are in Charleston. Thank you for replying back to me! If I run into you one day, we can lament about how much we miss shoveling snow and months of gray winters days! 😂
@CarolJoyable Yeah, Greer is a great spot to consider for sure! And the area you're in now is growing so fast! You'll be seeing more and more traffic once all the new construction projects are completed. In Greer, just pick a place where you can avoid I85 as much as possible 😅
Can’t wait for the next one!😅
@Edwa759 Thank you! Your wait won't be very long at all 👌🏿
