I am truly a family cook , nothing professional about me, although I do work full time , I lead and manage the team and I do my share of night duty ! I am really about trying really good recipes and also trying to live on a budget as the cost of living is rocketing. I am a firm believer in using left overs and waste as little as possible, I love helping people and lots ask me to do vlogs of things they want to cook , I love my Channel and all my really nice subscribers, it is like a second family, the channel was originally created to help my granddaughter cook while she was away at university. I had such lovely comments, that I have kept on going. Thank you for watching and if you want to see more recipes, I have some on my website www.susiehunter.co.uk. If you want to see where I love to go on holiday, why not visit my other channel www.youtube.com/@susietravelsonholiday or if you what to see what the man behind the camera does for fun. Susie's Beef Shin in Red Wine
มุมมอง 6583 หลายเดือนก่อน
This is a very old fashioned cut of meat, yet it delivers such wonderful flavour and is super tender if treated the correct way , the marrow from the bone makes the most delicious gravy. This can be cooked in a slow cooker but I prefer to cook it in a pressure cooker or in s normal oven long and slow ! Brown the Shin beef first in both sides season them before browning . Remove the shin from br...

Susie's Niinja Dehydrated Oranges
มุมมอง 3887 หลายเดือนก่อน
I was testing the ninja to see how it managed to dehydrate fruit, when living on the farm we had a large Aga and you just used the warming oven overnight , very simple . The oranges done in the ninja have come out beautifully and I am using them for lots of festive ideas not just to top my cocktails and gin and tonics 😂. I am doing a very natural potpourri with fir cones and making it look very...

Nice video Susie, and thanks for showing dishes. Found them on Amazon. Been looking for some to fit Ninja, these are perfect! Loved the fish dish. Thanks ❤
Thank you Joy xxx
That’s so nice of you Janice , work has been very full on, I had to step back from TH-cam because I only want to put up recipes I really like and believe in . I am keeping the channel going but it just won’t be regular . I do miss you all though xxx
Hi Susie I know you use a lot of Waitrose products just wondering with your expertise got a Waitrose Apple tart is it possible to bake in in the air fryer please advise
Yes absolutely, I use reheat for things like that and I would go with 10 mins but keep an eye on it ! It may need a little longer but I put pizza and all sorts in on reheat it works great xxx
Hi Susie just made the Danish apple tart in the air fryer on reheat perfect had a sample of it with a scoop of vanilla ice cream it was yummy thank you very much what a brilliant idea❤️
Thats just how i do my cooked breafast
Hi Susie made the roast chicken delicious thank you put aunt Bessie‘s roast potatoes in drawer number two done and out like cardboard dry and not crispy at all I did them on air fry have I done something wrong please advise thank you
Just read this Colleen , I have not tried Aunt Bessie’s roast potatoes but I suspect that they are half cooked and maybe the reheat function but on a higher temp might have worked better, I make my own roasties on airfry and they are amazing xxx
Thanks Susie, We love it here, never looked back, I’ve just made scones on the air fryer and tweeked a little from your recipe. I use no butter and glaze with milk. Also cook on air fryer mode not toast at 190 😊
Sounds great xx
Hi Susie😊 I’m watching from Australia. I’m originally from Hindley, Wigan. I’m a newbie to the Ninja double draw Airfryer. Same as yours 👌 great to hear your Northern accent, where are you cooking from?
Hi Julie, hope you love your Ninja, we live in Salisbury , Wiltshire but I come from North Yorkshire . My husband backpacked around some of Australia and loved it , I would have loved to have seen the country myself it looks amazing . Enjoy your lovely weather xxxx
Thanks Susie, Hope you are getting better soon and I just made the scones in the air fryer. I don’t use the same recipe and don’t use butter. I cooked on 190 on air fryer mode not roast and I glaze with milk not egg. Turned out amazing and may drop the temp a little next time. 👍🏻😊🙏🏻🍾🥂
Waitrose... fancy 💅 😅 I'm not rich enough for it. My debt says no. 🤣 Great video. Subscribed!
Trust me I am not rich enough especially now !! I buy there essential range , but lately I am visiting Tesco xxx

Thank you and I hope you enjoy it xxx

So nice to see you again , are you ok.? Your dish today looked very nice.
I have been rushed into hospital but home now my love , I am trying to balance my life more so I have kept my channel on TH-cam but I am no longer a partner, that has took a lot of pressure away and I s as m just going to be putting recipes up when I find one I enjoy . I had an infusion in hospital which then depleted my body of calcium it was all a bit scary as it all happened suddenly and I am now trying to get stronger . Hope you are okay xxx
@@cookingwithsusie bless you Susie, I did think you didn’t look yourself , hence my comment. I guess this was an iron infusion you had . Had your HB suddenly dropped. Look watching you, but you must really take care of yourself, I think you have been trying to do to much for a long time, Sadly as our bodies get older we still think they can do as they always have , but I for one can tell you they cant. Maybe time to start looking at really slowing down and do some things you want to do, enjoy life susie , or you will pay the price just as I did. Only saying as I am , with. Ring there myself. I learnt the very hard hard way. Once you hit the bottom it’s hard to get back up again , as we seem subject to say many things , that keeps knocking us back. Re myself I am really where I have just mentioned , just cant be the person I used to be I can’t get back on top, I have had low iron for past 8- 9 years , I feel this maybe holding me back, but as it’s stable and low , they do very little to do more. As you know ferrous sulphate has just been put in a one. Every three days, however I must say with my levels low I have one daily, I was on three a day. It doesn’t seem to have taken my count down , but I feel so tired snd drained all the time. Can a,ways give you my private email if you want to chat at. Anytime. Please keep looking after yourself , and take things slowly, I speak as someone who didn’t listen , and you know what I have been through. Hope John is looking after you, know where his last song came from. I think it was the last one. You will know the one I mean .xxx. Both take care
@karentoynton8948 Hi Karen , I am doing excactly what you said I am looking at everything to make life more comfortable and less stressful and to enjoy my time . A lot of changes ahead but good ones I hope 🤞 my infusion was Calcium, which then left me depleted of Calcium !! And left me in a right state , I was tacicardic and at high risk of a stroke, felt so ill , but I am coming back now to myself but taking my time . I really hope that things ease a little bit for you and I am taking your advise xxxxx
@@cookingwithsusie bless you I am a nobody to be taking much notice of , but I know the poor old body catches up with stress at some point. Yes these things at times we need one to make us well then one thing becomes overloaded as a result , I know from our previous chats in the past you really have been giving your all. Please just have some lovey deserved time with you and John , and enjoy the years you have worked hard in to enjoy a nice retirement together X and be able to enjoy each others company for many more years to come. You bo and enjoy life together while you can . Not good when your not hear thinking about it. I learnt the hard way . And I know it’s very easy to find yourself there . I can hear that’s the way your going my friend xxx💕
@@karentoynton8948 thank you Karen we are changing a lot of things at them moment so that we do get that needed time together , sadly it will take a little time as all the changes effect others so I also have to get more staff 😂but things are starting already to look different . Fingers crossed life improves for us all xxxx
It’s always a delight to see a new recipe appear!!! Thank you so much!!
Thank you xx
Nice to see you back susie 💕 That cod looks lovely and white, where do you buy it from? Xx

Hi. New subscriber ❤. Just watched you cook sausages which looked delicious, now watching your Real chips that look absolutely delicious 😋. xx
Hi Karen, thank you , and yes they are worth the effort xxx
I’ve bought the exact same Air fryer 3 weeks ago, but it’s not out the box yet , 🤣🤣🤣. Only because my Mother-in-law gave me a smaller one with 1 drawer, so I keep using that one !!!!!!!!!!! I must get it out of its box at the price it is !!!!!!!! Xx
@karenbevens9163 you will love it xxx
Can I thank you from me and my wife we tried your chicken with mushroom sauce and it was delicious will have again ❤
Thank you that makes me really happy xxx
Hi Susie have you done salmon in the air fryer if so I can’t find any thanks
I have at home with pesto crust as I love pesto not sure if it went up on the channel xxx
Got my new ninja today, still in the box, reading the instructions is a nightmare for me so seeing videos like yours is an amazing help, thank you 👍
Thank you that’s really nice of you to let me know xx
Hi Susie made the sea bass enjoyed I have a question for you I have the Ninja AF300 and find that drawer number 2,gets hotter then drawer no 1 and things burn a little if no careful any advise on this as to time and temperature please advise thanks 😊
Hi Colleen , yes a lot of people have noticed this with AF300 mine has also the same issue. I always allow for it , if it say 200 for say chips I take it down to 180 and I shorten the time so if it is 20 mins then I cook for 15 that is in what I call the hot draw ! I keep a close eye on it while cooking because as you say it does burn things . Now I am used to it I don’t find it such a problem and I am not sure if it happens in the bigger model , hope that helps xxx
Thank you Susie much obliged ❤️
Hi Susie I made the Tuna casserole as well as with chicken both turned out delicious kept one in freezer just wondering do I have to defrost it before heating and can I heat it in the ninja and on what temperature and time and will it be on bake or air fry thanks
I freeze it and I re heat it from frozen in the microwave as you don’t want it drying out ! You must make sure it is really cooked through after freezing and it is really hot . Glad it worked well for you xxx
Thank you xx
Have an amazon link for those glass/plastic dishes Susie ? (late comment)
I do, I am on night duty tonight but I will sort it for you xx
Thanks for the video it was helpful, with your ninja all you have to do is set the temperature and time on side 1 and press match and side 2 will automatically set the same as side 1 if you want the same settings on both sides take care.
Thank you , yes and I love using it xxx
Had air fryers from there start, now all my family uses ninja doubles..even my son has one and they all swear by them. I'm old and disabled and having no hot fat around is a godsend.. safe and quick. Carry on..great vids
Thank you and yes they are safer than having chip pans around xxx
My nan always put a sprinkle of malt vinegar in her chip bowl and often left them overnight. Mmmmmm
Love that idea xx
Love your videos. Real cooking is just what ppl want to see.
Thank you so Much xx
If I were to cook this with lambs tail, would you cook it for the same amount of time? Thx 😊
I must be honest Ashley I have never cooked lambs tales but yes I would stick with the same times xx
That looks wonderful
Thank you xx
Just got my air fryer this tutorial was very helpful 😊
Thank you so much and I hope you really enjoy your airfryer xx
@@cookingwithsusie thank you I will do xx
Another delicious looking meal Susie.
Thank you that is really kind of you xx
Absolutely delicious! Wonderful share!
Thank you xxx
I was lucky one time to be able to get shin beef but find it hard to source. Not available in any of my supermarkets and sadly local butcher closed down a few years ago. The depth of flavour you get from the shin or even oxtail is incredible. Another great vlog.
Thank you Ellen , I was so surprised when Waitrose had it in on the butchers counter and they said they are promoting long lost cuts of meat ! I love it , hope it catches on and you will be able to get it xxxx
That looks so delicious, another great video ❤
Thank you Janice xxx
Looks wonderful comforting food. All the meat that use to be cheap years ago when I was a kid has now become expensive. My dog would have loved those bones.
Yes I find everything so expensive now it is scary ! I would have loved giving the bones to a nice dog xxx
Hi Susie I haven’t seen shin of beef with marrow bone in for ages. . I have shin of beef often , but never had marrow bone in it, it does look very tasty. Brill excuse for a drop of wine foe a chefs perk. Hehe.
Definitely 😂😂, it has only being coming into our waitrose for about 6 months as they now do meets called forgotten cuts ! It is only in the Butchery counter it is never in the packed meets . Johns favourite for flavour xxxx
Looks interesting. Not seen shin before and am a bit put off by marrow but this definitely looks nice! John is lucky and eats well! 😅
Hi Dan, don’t fear marrow ! If you look it up it is great for our joints and bones , it is made up of collagen and glucosamine! Even without that though Shin meat is beautiful if cooked the right way , it is full of flavour and a lot of people have not had Shin but these cuts are making there way back to the shelves now . Thanks for watching and John knows he is quite spoilt 😂😂😂xxx
@@cookingwithsusie thanks Susie. Might give this a try after all! BTW can I please request a southern fried chicken recipe 🤞? Did some in the air fryer over the weekend using an online recipe but the breading was very beige looking. Not sure it will work in the air fryer but would love to see your thoughts. Thanks!
@dan7777 I will look into that for you Dan, what this space 😂😂.
@@cookingwithsusiethanks susie! btw went back in your videos and cooked your enchiladas from about 3 years ago tonight. even the kids ended up eating them so thanks!

Got my first air fryer today a ninja af400. Can't wait to try using it
My daughter has the 400 it is a very good machine you will love it xx
Very nourishing and tasty dinner great on winters day can't buy this cut of meat in the supermarket have to go to butchers I live in cork
Oh beautiful Ireland , my husband comes to Ireland for business and he loves it he has promised to take me just fitting it in xxxx
I live in Cork as well, but I think it’s difficult to get these traditional cuts of meat nowadays. There’s not a lot of butchering done in shops nowadays, in a lot of cases it comes into butcher shops already cut .
@finnualahanley2152 I cannot wait to visit Ireland it looks so beautiful! My Husband will be there in September but that is business so I have to wait until we can get over together to enjoy it and discover it . I agree that not many places seem to be selling it , we are very lucky with our Waitrose store and it has a proper butchery counter , I miss real butchers shops . Xxx
I am so hungry now, nice hearty meal. Can’t beat it. Great video, as always. 😋👍
Thank you so much I really appreciate that xx

I used to use a nutmeg grater like yours but found a nutmeg grinder which is so easy to use. Like you I much prefer freshly ground nutmeg!
I will look for one , thank you xx
Ive just purchased this Ninja so learning how to use it. I'll be adding sausgaes to my list to try as your demo made it look so easy.
Just take your time with it and start easy and build up to other things when you feel used to it xxx
