Last week was the begin of the 2022/23 freshwater fishing season and like many anglers I went out on October first to catch my first trout of the season!

Last weekend I spent a couple days away down south in the Mackenzie basin. I went egg drifting, softbaiting and even fished some flies under a float… and this is how it went

My north island Koi mission concludes with the second part of my trip with me visiting a suburban area with a couple of large ponds containing some impressive fish.

During a quick trip up north I stopped off at a little tributary of the Waikato river in search of a noxious and invasive fish known as the koi carp.

Over the long weekend I stayed on the beautiful west coast of New Zealand's south island, well known for its wet weather, stunning scenery and trout fishing. Over the couple of days i was there, i did a little bit of fishing from my kayak and managed to catch 4 nice golden brown trout as you'll see in the video. That's right, the same fish every year for 3 years! Thought he would've learned from his mistakes by now! Sorry for the long break of almost 2 months and no video. There's various reasons why I haven't made a video but who cares I'm back, caught some good fish and I can't wait to share it with you all.

I headed down to the canals for the first time in a while. Caught a couple nice fish. a 7lb rainbow and a 11lb brown. Fishing was slow, only had luck in the early morning, late evening and at night. Water was very clear and the heat was exhausting..

This week I decided to ignore the rain and headed to a local wharf in search of my very first rig. Went pretty well, landed 4 rig in total and also caught 2 massive stingrays while trying to catch a seven gill shark. Kept 2 of the rig and cooked up some fresh fish n chips. Caught the rig with banana prawns and squid, using my new shimano beastmaster 10000 and 15' xitus pro surf rod.

In a last minute effort to catch some fish and make a video I headed to the river I fished a few weeks back again. Caught 3 beautiful brown jacks, was a great way to end the week

This week I headed too my local spring creek in search of worm munching brown trout. I think the day went pretty well after landing 4 beautiful fish.
