The DRZ Project
เข้าร่วมเมื่อ 20 ก.ค. 2016
This channel is dedicated to 3 things: The Suzuki DRZ400; supermoto antics; and enduro/off road fun.
I'm converting my 2004 S model to SM and will be posting videos every step of the way; wheel upgrades; engine mods and upgrades; carburettor rejetting, cleaning, and upgrading; suspension adjustment and upgrades; aesthetic mods... everything!
I also use my DRZ for off road & enduro. I will post modification videos, riding videos and tips.
I will be condensing my knowledge of DRZs into information and how-to videos for you to learn about your bike.
Give the vids a thumbs up if you like them. Comment any requests or questions. Subscribe to show support and see more.

Suzuki DRZ 400 supermoto conversion and mods - Intro to the project
มุมมอง 7K8 ปีที่แล้ว
This video lays out what my channel will be about. I've bought a DRZ 400 S and am converting it to supermoto while doing lots of modifications and upgrades along the way. I will record how to do these and problems I have overcome so you can too. I will also do 'how-to' tutorials on how these mods are fitted and mechanics of the bike.
You appear to have a slightly different carburetor. I'm in USA with a 2006 S model. The first wire you unplugged is either non existent or in a different place on my carb. In any case this was still very helpful so thank you!
What year is/was your DR-Z?
Very helpful video. Thanks a lot!
wonderful video, thanks for taking the trouble!
Thank you I bought a 2015 that had all the mods done to it we're talking about carburetor kits air box and pipe this bike does not excite me at all being that I am a two-stroke Rider I was thinking that it would wake my charm up but it does but it doesn't I would like to sell mine change over to something that will run I know they're Bulletproof but they don't get my attention
I put the stage one cam for me
These bikes run good and I can't say anything about them but they don't have any power and they're heavy
when converting to super moto..do we have to install a shorter stand as well ?
Would have loved to watch you wiggle it back in. That’s what currently is giving me grief
Thank you! I've been looking for a way to easily swap between S and SM during different seasons. What about the gear on the rear wheel? My guess is that you want a longer gear ratio for a SM. Perhaps, this is just a chain adjustment?
Brill man thanks
That was an excellent intro to the complexity's of my issues. Mahalo and greatful subscription!
That is not a chain guard. It is a chain guide .... you do not take that off, period.
Great video man thanks for sharing!
Gold video for DRZ enthusiasts
Man that fuel line ist NOT coming off... I can pull as hard as I want. Stupid thing seems to be glued to the petcock....
Won't come out. Don't understand
Son has one of these - I call it "Tweety". Top little bike. Good vid, mate, but DO get a new chain. That streeeeeeeeeetched, one will wear both sprockets out much faster ..
Clear
Take the fuel line off and vac line then loosen the hose clamps for the boot and turn the carb . Never took mine out did it in about an hour
If anyone's reading this: There's no need to take the tank off, or any of the side panels. Undo the throttle cable, unplug the TPS. disconnect fuel line, and take the clamps off the rubber gasket/boot. then take something like handle of a large wrench(spanner) as a prybar between the frame and the rear boot. Then you just wiggle the carb out. Takes about 3-5min. Use some spit on the inside of the boot to lube it going back on.
Smart aleck , make your own version and shut up.
Must be an easier way an that , I can't get mine out without damaging something
Whats up. Nice Video! And Nice Bike! How did you make your rear suspension (shock) so stiff and tall. I just bought a 2004 Suzuki DRZ400S and rear is VERY Squishy. Can you give me some help pls. Ty

I supermoto doesn’t have an off on the fuel petcock
Some of what youre taking off is needed though right like chain gaurd and skid plat .
thank you for the video, I am offered to buy a complete dep line for my drz, what do you think?
Very helpful and straight to the point! Thanks a ton
Hi thanks for helpful video im new subscribers what is the year of your drz? Thank you in advance
Nice and concise. I have fuel draining out of the black hose, assuming it's a float or needle drama. Thanks for the tips (on pulling the rear airbox hose clear out of the way ) very helpful.
i coudl have used this 5 days ago...
Is this the mikuni cv carb? I'm trying to figure out which one i have on my bike. Thanks
What is better? 3x3 + jet kit or 3x3 + FCR carb?
Nice video, thank you.
Could have replaced battery with LI and shaved pounds
airbox boot brotha! its called a boot
Bonjour. Où va la durite qui part de la cuve et qui finit avec un embout blanc en plastique ? Merci !
I did the opposite of this video and added a bunch of crap to make my bike heavier. I have tusk panniers a tank bag, extra stuff in the stock bag. Front fender bag. Heavy duty tubes lol... I do have the pillion pegs removed and lithium battery though 😅
My first performance upgrade will be to replace the rear spring to match my weight
This is a great video man. It shows exactly what i wanted and you didnt make it sound complicated at all. It was great how you showed taking the carb out of the bike, as most other videos i have seen skip that part.
Good addition for weight loss is that sealed lead acid dumbbell battery. The lithiums are unbelievable. Way more cold cranking amps at 120 which is I beleive 3x as much. And it weighs less than 1lb which is significant high up on the chassis. At around 100 Canadian pesos it's a unbeatable upgrade. Great vid tho and to the haters you mentioned. Don't mention it again there will always b haters no matter what vid u post. Just realize that and don't give a damn. Usually just basement dwelling losers anyway that don't say shit in real life. Cheers pretty work
Is it worth it though? Probably not IMO. I would be better suited just to lose 11 lbs off my body tbh
Undo the 3 subframe bolts and everything becomes much easier.
If you gonna do a video on replacement please show how to put back each part
Hey man is the cruise 70 to 75 a bit easier for the bike with these upgrades
Good video
Thanks for the informative video! I'm thinking about getting a DRZ as I'm not sure I can part with nearly 20k (here in Australia) for a KTM 690! Have you dyno'd your bike to see what hp and torque you are getting at the wheel?
also have to remove the rearmost muffler bolt from the subframe so that you can move the subframe back...
if you remove the top subframe bolt, and loosen the lower subframe nuts, (with the bike on a stand or jack) you can push the subframe back and that gives you more room for the carb to back out of the front and back boots.
Put ppppppppp
