After more than 30 years of touring on various notable touring bikes I can say that my DRZ is easily the most comfortable 1-up tourer to date. The ergos are spot on for this 6'3" frame and although the stock seat is shite it does allow movement to take weight off of the sore parts of the glutes... something most bikes don't allow because even the 'best' of them lock you into a certain riding position. If the highest end leather high-back reading chair gets to be a pain in the arse after a couple of hours, why would I expect a motorcycle seat to be any better? I've covered 700 miles in a day with a stock DRZ and had a blast doing it so I'm just glad to say that I'm not a Hans Christian Anderson princess and can get by even when things aren't perfectly suited to my every whim. My 16 year old DRZ is the balls. No need for fairings/windshields or aftermarket this-n-thats... just ride the friggin thing, Nancy.

Nope. The Drz seat is universally known to be an instrument of torture. A bloke in Huddersfield re covered mine for £80 and its better for it. Also carry a 1 ltr 'fuel friend' for peace of mind (£14).

I enjoyed your video! I am saving for a pair of supermoto wheels for my DRZ, so that I can have it more road friendly on longer adventures. I don't mind the knobbies, just that they wear so fast. I have an MRD Exhaust on the way, have done the re-jetting and 3x3. Next mod down the road will be the Keihin carb. Thanks for posting the vid!

Hey m8. Nice videos, I am looking for some info. I am a new rider and I am between the Transalp and the Drz. By looks I am more into the SM. Are the SMs good for first bike? Also keep in mind that I am 1.88m tall

Cheers bro :) the drz and transalp are very different bikes. The Honda is much bigger, heavier and predominantly for adventure / touring riding. The Drz is for blasting around - it's an SM.
If you like SMs, deffo go for the drz. It's a cracking bike, lots of mods, lots of parts, big community around them. They're fun to ride and you can do everything on them. And about your height, I'm about 6ft 6 and it's comfy, so you'll be fine.

Just watched it on my phone, not sure why it didn't work on my laptop... Great video anyway bud, really want to do a tour but never thought my DRZ would be suitable. What gearing did you have for the trip? I've got 14/44 and it doesn't seem to like going much over 60mph. How many miles did you cover?

+Ollie Davies I have a the same set up. I would have gone to a 39 or 41 teeth sprocket on the back if I had time, but the trip was such short notice I couldn't get one in time.
I rode about 400 miles. don't hesitate to get out there and ride, it's what the bike is for. Get a 39t sprocket on the back and you'll love it
