1968 Chevelle DIY Body Work and Paint - Part 8
มุมมอง 3.8Kปีที่แล้ว
I'm moving to Texas! So instead of more body work and sanding, I'm spraying the Chevelle with 2K sealer and putting it back together. Not the ideal thing to do but I'm out of time. My mobile home furnace experiment was a hug success and kept the garage warm and ventilated. I used a cheap Harbor Freight paint gun and it worked good.
Classic GM Starter and Battery Cable Upgrade with Factory Style Parts
มุมมอง 1.3Kปีที่แล้ว
Upgrade your classic GM with a newer style starter and battery cables using newer factory style parts. I upgrade the original style large starter and cheap battery cables with mid 1990's factory style mini starter and battery cables and converted to a side post setup. This will give me better clearance for headers and better heat protection for the battery cables. I also upgrade to an Optima ba...

This time I get the body panels all aligned correctly and start sanding the whole car. I end up finding some more rust on the wheel well and under some old body filler.

4 Post Car Lift Install in a Home Garage with 10 foot Ceiling

I bought a used 4 post lift to install in my home garage with a 10 foot ceiling. I want to be able to store two cars through the winter and be able to use it for other vehicle work. We set it up with an engine hoist and not much else. He has 6inches.....NO DIDDY!!! PAHAHAHA!!
That is a nice 71 sir
Back in 79, I bought my first car. 68SS 396 body had a 327 power glide 2 speed auto. Biggest difference was mine was rusty, very rusty i paid 150$. Those were the days. Thanks for the memories Oh yeah, had a front bushing stuck that squeaked loudly.. could hear me coming a mile away...lol
I need to do this for temp heat in our house under construction this winter. Can I plug it into the dryer plug?
How many amps it uses at start and after the romm temperature is equal to the set temperature
how tall are those two cars in the vid? I am trying to figure out if this lift will work. My top car will be 49" tall and the btm one will be 56"
Wjat ever happened to this 66 Chevelle?
Thank you so much for this video, very helpful to me. I have a pole barn that stores three at the moment but have 6 classics and need as much room as possible. Doubling the capacity is a no brainer like this.
On my 71, with a aluminum head 383 stroker motor, I went with RideTech's 2 inch, small block drop springs. After they settled about half an inch my front end sits at at a perfect 25 inches measured at the fendee lined up at the center of the wheel. If anyone is curious and has a similar Chevelle. The ride is just a tiny bit stiffer and it never mottoms out with 4 people in the car. Very nice drop springs man. What i love is that they have thicker coils but less of them abd are super easy to install. Those guys make a quality product.
WOW! BMR really dropped the ball on this kit!
I lowered my Chevelle..I installed coil overs to lower it. I measured 24 inches at the same point you did and looks great..running mid length headers so they dont drag. I did see that raising/lowering the coil over nut you see double to change ...so 1/2 inch makes 1 inch.
Che gioiello! 😊😊😊
"we will put the car on it and see what happens" immediately puts the $45,000 car on the lift.
I am a confident engine rebuilder on a crusade against "will it run" videos . No argument - every unknown rust suspect engine needs to be torn down and sent to a machine shop to measure viability and repairs. NOT TURNED OVER/NOT STARTED.
I just bought the same lift this Tuesday, $3100 out the door, got from the same Ft worth N.A.W. You got yours from, only Im 125 miles west. Wish I still lived in Tarrant county area. Nice cars, are you member of Mad Dog Car Club? Go to any car shows, there’s one practically every weekend in the Tarrant county area.
I see you aren’t too far from me. Would you be willing to help me install same lift in our garage?
i thought about cutouts for my 605 bbc but thing is so loud already with 3 1/2 44 flowmasters. Great engine those zz502s i had one before i renuilt my 70 into a pro street set up. My 2024 Camaro SS has GM Performance Duel Mode Exhaust which has rpm controlled cutouts, its loud when at full throttle
I'm really impressed with the zz502 so far and the performance is just right for the street or strip
Those spark plugs look a lot like the plugs for a mid 40's IH Farmall model M tractor.
Hey Matt, Doug here from Vancouver Island , BC, Canada, i have thoroughly enjoyed the 8 part series on your Chevelle. I will assume that there is not a ninth part vid yet and that you have not got back to it yet, hope the move to Texas went well and hope to see you at it again soon.
Great vid, i worked on my room mates 70 Chevelle , green, in 96, what a pleasure to work on it, was so well made, enough metal in it to build three cars these days. I rebuilt the back fender wells on it and we dropped a so called rebuilt engine into it, it turned out to be garbage, but man did i ever enjoy working on that beauty, she sold it to her son in law and i never saw it again.
How tall are you?
Rock on good stuff
You almost set that tv cable correctly. What your supposed to do is release the clip, hold the throttle wide open, and while continuing to hold the throttle wide open, press the clip back in, and then release the throttle. I was hoping you could hear me as I was screaming at my screen when I watched this.
What size wheel and tires are you running? I have all stock springs on my Chevelle but it doesn't sit like yours. I also have 15 inch wheels and looking to upgrade.
You don’t have to drill anchors into the concrete ?
not on a 4 post. you can but you dont have to
Funny to see the driver push both the low gear and reverse pedal at the same time. I remember the first time I got one going and didn’t have a clue
🔥🔥🔥
Nice. Who was the builder? Where are they located?
The gas tank should be under the seat cushion and usually the battery box underneath the car
What size are the wheels/tires? Are those US Mags u101’s? Would love this exact setup on my 68’! Looks fantastic
We had the pickup version from that year when I was about 4 years (1957) old in New Zealand
The Huckster resembles a truck more than anything.
Very helpful video thanks for the details. I just got a 68 Chevelle and I’m going through the same process.
Great video. Thanks for posting. Was 30 amp power required and did you need to modify your 110v outlet?
Matt when can we look forward to a new video. Thank you. Kevin
Looks great! The lift doesn't need to be bolted into the cement?
Any issues with the wide door gaining access to the lift? Planning my shop now and debating if i need two doors instead of one wide one to allow for lift placement.
Do you have to mount it down?
Did you mention that a correct length mounting bolts must be used with that style of starter. The originals are too long. Thanks for the video.
Clueless
Great video. How long is your lift?
I would only do the $46k no insulation and build little room office type with kitchen bathroom and sleeper. Also I would eliminate small roll up and do big roll up on the back. Overall it's awesome and pretty. Do a video now same thing but with metal. I think metal cost less than steel beams
I think spray foam is better
you are... your shooting this video...
Great idea!
old love does not rust
Nice job. What was your last lift you said that you owned prior? Just window shopping for a lift
Респект и уважение таким людям! Золотые руки!
It sounds expensive until you break it down to price per square feet, your shop alone is about 30 per sq ft. I built my own in 2006 and it was 16 per sq ft. I did not do the dirt work or concrete but I did do the poly and rebar and everything else so your price is not bad.
Hi Matt! This is Joe I'm moving to Tn. in the summer I was wondering what building company you decided on? I like your shop
