Give them a number 1, and Demarcus Walker, and maybe a 6th.
This is a non-starter this guys is too old.
Not sure what trade you make but I'd give 10 and next year's 1st
Rams are no longer in St. Louis...just sayin'
No. Too expensive.
Would you make the trade for Myles Garrett?
No way in hell.
Absolutely not!
Tomorrow don't forget to talk about that good center at the Senior Bowl. And try to guess where he might fall to in the draft. In interested in that guy.
I disagree in that he's not bringing in different offensive minds. Declan Doyle and Press Taylor are guys that BJ wanted as guys who won't try to create the new offense, but will be able to teach what BJ wants taught. Doyle in particular is known as a hard worker looking to learn. That's why he is here.
Brad, I've done some draft research, and I have a tentative plan for our Bears. We will talk when draft coverage starts up.
successful coaches generally get opportunities to move up and take on more responsibility. Some just aren't made for that upper level job. Bienemmy has been a great RB coach. Let him just do what he does best.
This doyle guy is a JOKE
He was only gonna be at UCLA one year
I like your take about combining guys from different schemes together. Because the Press Taylor and EB hires look really bad individually but if you can pluck some things they do well (which isn't much) I guess that makes sense to get different perspectives. I'll join you on the glass half full view of these hires.
How does the EB hire look bad?? Everyone else I've seen is really pumped about his hire.
@butkusfan23 their pumped because he was hyped as a HC candidate two years ago and no one talks about him since. I think it's a bad hire because he has been abysmal as an OC. His running game was almost dead last in all of College Football last year and was near the bottom his year in Washington. Tells me he doesn't understand the run game of which he is now are running backs coach.
Why hasn't EB been a HC? Because when he isn't under the protection of Andy Reid and he is running his own offense he has failed misserably and been out right fired two years in a row. That is why! Not even mentioning the rumblings that he has left each stop with seemingly bad blood. If you are limping back into the NFL as a positional coach I would expect him to go to KC but apparently that wasn't an option...
But he had sam Howell throw for 4k yards. He's still a great addition.
@Chad....it's deeper....but I'll stop there
@@chrisdperez786 well the commanders were bottom 6 in rushing and UCLA was like bottom 4 or something out of all College Football so I don't think he understands the running game very well or how to make it work. But I will trust Ben Johnson to make this work despite having some questionable subordinates.
Thanks

Super pumped about Dennis Allen. Hightower was a solid decision, safe at best. The OC i don't know enough about to have an opinion.
You look like Drift0r lol
None of those experienced OC candidates would want the job because Ben will be calling the plays. Instead Ben needed an intern. Someone who will check all the odds and ends and work hard to pay his dues, thus the Declan hire.
I think they hired Declan because hes young and will stay with the team for awhile to gain ecperience. Hes the OC in name only. Im sure the other candidates like Shaw wanted to run the offense, implement and call their own plays.
Excited
Did you look at Google the office of coordinator is Mike ditka's nephew
Odoyle rules!
Dude, don’t get fixated on the new OC!!! BJ is the Bears OC and Doyle will be his bitch. Go back to BJ’s interview about hiring his OC. He basically said he wanted someone with a lot of energy and will work 24/7!!! So RELAX!!
Thanks for putting this out Sunday night! With coaching I just want to see winning
Oh... Doyle rules!!!
He picked doyle to be his OC probably cause he know he wont lose him any time soon.
We didn't want an established offensive coordinator who had his own system and would conflict with BJ
I'm fine with Doyle. The Bears want BJ to call the offensive plays, so this is a young guy that BJ can sort of train up in his mold and consolidate.
I like Hightower. He brings quite a bit of knowledge and the players like him
Ben added a guy he could mold but Ben's not proven yet. Also, not sure how an inexperienced 28 yr old is going to command the offense.
How many of y'all gotta say the same comment about dudes name? I think he got the message! 😂
I appreciate the deep dive into some of these coaches! I felt like no actual resource I looked up said anything, so impressed you were able to research all this stuff so quickly after the hires
Ben is grooming the young coach probably. Pretty smart imo
People are being overly worried about this role on the team. The OC role on our team is nothing more than just a guy that advises Ben Johnson and gives second perspectives and opinions to Ben Johnson. He’s like his sidekick. This is not a role on the team to be overly invested in.
Why do I get the feeling 🤔 Allen and Doyle was a package deal. Dennis Allen obviously hired him to his staff. 🤷💯 I also wouldn't be so sure on the Saints ST coach not coming. Hightower will stay if he doesn't. He has interviews still. 🏈 Is being played. Saints May outbid Bears but Dennis Allen might get this guy here.
hightower was great. if he was less than that ben would have fired him also. fans like hightower.. im sorry but you really bad at analyzing these hires. its like your the Matt Eberflus equivalent.
How is hiring an offensive coordimatoe who will not be calling plays a huge risk??? Bem Johnson will be calling plays..Ben said he wants someone he can trust, who will watch lots of film..Basically an assistant.Ben has a history with the new offensive coodinator
The name Declan in pronnounced deck-lin, not DeClann. Just FYI.
Hightower honestly is fine. He's held to high regard throughout the league and was one of the main voices on the rule changes for special teams. So having someone that has a voice in Goodells ears or the rule committee could be a really good thing. Plus I expect Johnson to help iron out the details which maybe Flus didn't.
I’ll pay attention to your concern when you can pronounce his name properly. It’s Declan, an Irish name. Deck-Lynn. Not De-Clinn, which sounds like a Victor Hugo character.
Ben is going to be the only play caller . Doyle is going to assist him
I like all the oc’s picked. I’m excited for a new season. Thanks and BearDown
One thing you’re overlooking is the importance of position coaches. The 2017 draft was fantastic for the Saints, but it’s worth noting that Ryan Nielsen was the defensive line coach, and Aaron Glenn coached the defensive backs. Allen is a good hire, but the position coaches are often the real difference-makers.
Experienced OCs want the opportunity to call plays, and they’re not going to get that in Chicago with Johnson running the show. The Doyle hire feels more like a DEI move. He’s probably not going to help install game plans but will likely focus on watching film.
This 27 year old nobody didn't deserve the OC job... regardless of not calling plays
Retaining Hightower was a good decision. He's been a consistently good coordinator, and does well regardless of talent. Every coordinator has struggles, but he's proven he can work with the talent to overcome them.
This guy is talking Chicago sports and can’t pronounce ‘Declan?’
Declan Doyle makes sense if you look at it based on what Ben Johnson wanted in a OC from his presser. He said he needed someone with attention to detail and that could breakdown the film for him on Mondays and Tuesdays and set the table for him to do his thing. Basically doing the busy work for him. So having a young guy smart guy in that specific role makes sense based on what Ben is needing him to do. Ben Johnson is the OC and Doyle is basically his assistant. I see no risk with the higher. As for Discipline and guys listening your message you got Randle El who is assistant Head Coach so that is his number 2 and he will help him set the tone.
Doyle spent time working with Sean Peyton so how is he unknown?
we finally have an aggressive DC that knows how to blitz.
