Why Did the U.S. Support Africa’s Most Notorious Dictator? History of DR Congo(Part2)
Part 1→th-cam.com/video/7NsE0j4rIaA/w-d-xo.html
Why did the United States support Mobutu Sese Seko, one of Africa’s most notorious dictators? In this video, we explore the rise and fall of Mobutu, the leader of Zaire (now the Democratic Republic of the Congo), who ruled for 32 years from 1965 to 1997.
Known for his iconic leopard-print hat, Mobutu was backed by the US and other Western countries during the Cold War. Despite receiving billions in aid, he exploited the nation’s resources, monopolized power, and left the Congolese people in extreme poverty. His regime marked one of the darkest periods in Congo’s history, with a collapsing economy and widespread starvation.
We’ll take you through Congo’s history-from its struggle for independence from Belgian colonial rule, through Mobutu’s corrupt dictatorship, to the devastating Second Congo War, also called Africa's World War.
Discover the untold story of how colonialism, Cold War politics, and internal conflicts shaped the Democratic Republic of the Congo. If you’re interested in African history, global politics, or the impact of dictatorships, this video is for you.

Has the us ever failed to support worst dictators?
Is it mainly for exploitation that the extremist group fights for or because they also want farming areas for their lands
Amazing content man. I never knew the full extent of damage King Leopold II dealt upon the people of Congo, now I know. I bet his descendants and European descendants in general are still reaping the benefits of generational wealth. They don’t deserve anything. Anyways keep up the great work, you’ve earned my subscription!!
Thank you so much! I have been struggling with spreading my videos but your one comment me motivated a lot. Please watch part2 as well!

PR of Butan convinced the world that they are happiest country. But the facts are not that optimistic and blaming that on technology shows incompetence of their government/social system to face reality. Or in simple words, they (rich and privileged) lied, they used magic to convince their own people that they are happy. Never works, and every political system does that

I don't think happiness should be a life goal. I think purpose and meaning should be the focus....happiness is incidental. Everything you discussed in your video dilutes and degrades a person's focus and becomes a distraction to finding purpose.
Census is just another form of spying just like Birth certificates
Their westernization is the cause cause and effect
dude that doesn't sound good at all and what you say doesn't make it better. I have heard of a lot of racism and Alienation in Japan. but you are right. Inconvenience makes for a better life
The most important thing is that Japanese dont trust Japanese and most Japanese dont speak another language. Japan is a closed society and Japan wants to be closed because of the politicians and Japan has no soverignity, it is still a colony of US.
I live in Canada and made it my mission to know most of my neighbors, and suddenly the world opens up,.....
My son, deprive not the poor of his living, and do not keep needy eyes waiting. Do not grieve the one who is hungry, nor anger a man in want. Do not add to the troubles of an angry mind, nor delay your gift to a beggar. Do not reject an afflicted suppliant, nor turn your face away from the poor. Do not avert your eye from the needy, nor give a man occasion to curse you; for if in bitterness of soul he calls down a curse upon you, his Creator will hear his prayer. - Sirach 4:1-6
Give alms from your possessions to all who live uprightly, and do not let your eye begrudge the gift when you make it. Do not turn your face away from any poor man, and the face of God will not be turned away from you. - Tobit 4:7

I don't think we Filipinos are this cold. Maybe being predominantly Christian plays a factor.
@@theboredprogrammer1114i don't think it's about christianity, but rather if the local religion places an emphasis on good works. Taiwanese Buddhism does this, for example, even as Japanese Buddhism does not.

After independence why the government not develop the country and not served their people well. Like other African country’s politicians start to corruption. it’s so sad 😢
Thank you for your comment. After independence, many African countries have indeed struggled with corruption and development issues, often rooted in complex histories, including the impact of the slave trade and colonial exploitation, as seen here in Zanzibar. The legacy of these systems left lasting challenges, and while corruption remains a problem in many areas, there are also many people who are dedicated to building a better future for their communities. I introduced their effort on the other videos, so I will be happy if you watch them as well.

Thank you!
Thank you for sharing the beautiful nature and people of Zanzibar! I especially loved the last conversation bit. It’s heartwarming to see you connect with the local community like that.
Thank you for watching me video! I am happy to see your comment. Please watch the next video again!
It’s so fascinating that this kind of history only ends in our high school education. I wish we set days and activities maybe a festival to remember slave trade

Fgm is dumb
This video short displays the tip of the iceberg, when it comes to the Motherland’s ecosystems (economic & ecological). Embedded Abrahamic theological religiosity as disserved misleading dogma and doctrinal perspectives have created ‘shackled souls’, who believe in a Eurocentric Patriarchal supremacy of power and privilege! A webinar would not be able to cover the millennia of dehumanization! This is especially evident in the commodification for ‘melanized darker hued’peoples of the global majority!
their country is not poor just because they don't have the same means as any other cultures. And when they have other people from different countries come in are they there are to assist?
Somalia Hanoolaato
Wow, Africa became rich from selling slaves, who would have that. That's why they never asked for reparations. Because they would have to pay reparations to all of the descendants of sold Africans.
Three yr old was married to a 22 yr old man that's depraved and perverted child sexual abuse her now ex husband will have to answer to God for what he did
Its hard to feel sorry for these children when millions of men in america are forced to pay child support without the option to op out like women who can choose abortion
When women have no sexual pleasure, they don't give a sh!! About men, men are only bank accounts
That’s disgusting! Putting a kid through that just because you want to?! Unbelievable.
Religion fused with tradition, creating a centuries-old practice, still backed by one religion, Islam. (FGM is praised in a few hadith)
I really like this line... People may have limited power, but they are not powerless... I did hear about this in one of the series thank you for d detailed video... I have subscribed to ur channel

With my families tribe it was to "prepare for the pain of being a woman" the point is to suffer. After my sister was cut she was shipped off to the rainforest with her legs bound and had to not die. If you do not die, you are seen as "counsumed by the rainforest and reborn as a woman" an issue is it is the WOMEN who are continuing this. Many men do not want this practice, and they are not involved typically. The elders do this. when my sister was protesting, the women found her and attacked her. She felt so betrayed. What is sad is when i spoke to the older women they said "they took everything from us, this is all we have"
The lengths some people will go to control others is disgusting. Thank you for bringing this more to light, more people need to know that things like this happen.
This is sad
