I've been directing live video at my Church for a little over a year now. One of my biggest challenges for a while was letting go and moving on when I made a mistake. I've slowly learned that what seemed like a big mistake to me was probably unnoticed by most. But if you focus on that mistake, it can throw you off moving forward. Let it go and move along!

Love this. Thanks for sharing. Your methods resonate with me as this is what we currently do on my team at Church. I also give each volunteer the opportunity to lead the team each week; So all I do as the leader is passed on to the "Leader of the week". I do this to help create a sense of ownership and build character. I also do this to observe their strengths and weaknesses.

One of my biggest challenges is message time. In the sense that we have really outfitted our 5 cameras to work well for worship, but when it comes to message time, we are constantly changing positions, lenses, and rigs to try to figure out what works best for message. When we find something we like, typically, it's a distraction to people (someone on sticks on a reserved aisle seat) or people walk constantly in front of the shot. We have a sloped floor, so to achieve cinematic look, the only way I've found to build depth is using people. Our room is very wide and the stage is really deep. And with constant changes, I feel like it's a lot on the volunteer because I'm not providing much consistency or predictability in their role as they serve. Definitely want to improve how we visually deliver the main reason people come, the Gospel. Thanks for this video brother. -Jake Sutton (Northwoods Church -- Peoria, IL)

One of the biggest challenges for me when I first started as a live director, was managing multiple moving parts and ensuring the production went smoothly. This included working with a team of talents, techs, and other crew members to create an engaging and high-quality broadcast that connects viewers in real-time. With so many things to manage at once-including audio levels, camera angles, and graphics. Let me know your biggest challenge as a live director.

I agree with having the right culture!! One thing my team and I do to help develop this culture is we have Bible study every week. The whole team gets together on a zoom call and we just worship and study together.

A thing that helps us are some sort of checklist that the cam ops can look up for them self. With 60+ Volunteers we need some thing written and than on sundays you can be more on the sozial/team side less tec lowlevel things to manage.

Can you make a video on how to shake your camera while using it handheld. My camera ops have been trying to master this technique but it comes out really bad. When you used to work with bethel your camera ops would be able to match the energy by moving there camera more or less to match the energy, can you explain how to do that and what gear to use with it or things like frames, image stabilization, shutter.
