What mount are your lenses and what adapter did you use for BMCC6K? I didn't find it in your kits. Also what ND filter do you recommend? Thanks!
"If you're going to supersize your phone with massive add-ons and cumbersome rigs then you may as well just get an actual camera that is the same size and offers a superior image and better recording solutions." Really? Name one camera that comes in at the same price as an iPhone 15 that offers the same capabilities as an iPhone 15? There isn't one.
Panasonic Lumix s5, Sony a6700, A6400, BMPCC 4k, Any of these 2nd hand.
Great Work!! Simple, minimal, well shot aaand Scary! Thanks for making and sharing!
I ordered the products many thanks for this video. No blah blah just straightforward. Super clear thanks a lot. Keep it coming
good video. gained a sub.

This video is really helpful. You should do more reviews man. This is super thorough and exactly what I was looking for.
Great set up thanks!
I do like the direction they're heading with the Pyxis... but the recent price drop of the BMCC6K was a no-brainer and I just bought one of those. I've always like the formfactor of the pockets when you add a cage and v-mount battery. You can rig it or strip it down and it works wither way. Hopefully there will be a Pyxis Pro with upgraded sensor and flip-screen at some point? Either way, all the options they have right now are an insane value.
Which camera has the new sensor?
the new FF sensor will be in the URSA 12k FullFrame. Pyxis and BMCC6K are the same sensor
@@Frontigenics Thanks. Seems the missing feature of the Pyxis was a new sensor.
Hey dude thanks you for all your tips and testing. Do you always use that SSD/ housing combination for the 15 pro max? I know some of these are known not to work with the iPhone and want to be sure before pulling the trigger. Cheers!
Respect your honesty. I'll stay with my LUMIX GH5ii. New sub Cheers from wild Western Australia
I personnally think side screen is a far better option than on top like Red komodo, on gimbal and on tripod you still have the option to touch the screen on the side while operating while you can't on Red Komodo if the camera is above you head. I still prefer flip screens though
This is the blue o silver flare set?
The complaints about this camera are hilarious. I think most people are really IN LOVE with complaining. Have it then, complain away!!!
Exactly. When you step back and think that we have a 6K FullFrame RAW camera now at $1500... it's mind blowing. Even if it's a *slightly older sensor-- that kind of tech/specs were only available in a $25k+ Red camera just 5 years ago. It's nuts.
@@Frontigenics It is crazy what BM puts out. what you get for the cost is crazy value for money. th-cam.com/video/4-ArHeOTv5g/w-d-xo.html th-cam.com/video/Z7PwGLkoJfs/w-d-xo.html
Awesome video, straight to the point, clear, loved watching this, thank you!
idk... i kinda want one but at the same time.., I feel like they haven't got it down yet.. too soft imo.. and most others are too sharp.. there's a middle ground somewhere.. this stuff just looks plain out of focus
Totally agree with everything you've said. Blackmagic must be mad to bring this piece of crap out. But they aren't the only manufacturer pushing junk to market, just take a look at the new Panasonic S9!!!😅😅😅
Great setup with the SSD, problem is in stead of your 68$ it cost now 178 euro, that's a big difference
Good video, interesting points, well presented. One day, BM will produce the perfect camera... well, it's something to aspire to anyway. 🙂 Cheers.
Price dropped on the 6k cinema. Does that change anyone's opinion? 😊 I won't buy it, but would buy that over the phyxis. No HDMI is an automatic no for starters.
Yea it changed mine. I was going to get a Pyxis, but just grabbed the current 6KFF. The form factor really isn't that bad when you add a cage, rails, v-mount, ect. It's basically just a cube anyways. I'll now just save up for the 12k FullFrame Ursa down the road.
@@Frontigenics why the 12k and not the coming 17k? Besides the higher price?
@@annebokma4637 yea mostly just the price… I don’t think they’ve even said what it is yet. But both have the new sensors that are supposedly 16stops.
We asked for a box shaped Pocket 6k pro/Cinema 6k FF. I rather have no screen and a smaller form factor. I feel like the design is centered around fitting the screen on the camera. I also rather have a s35 6K sensor and get higher frame rates. I miss the ND from the 6K pro. I can live without IBIS and AF. The cam should have 2 xlrs. I'm not sold on the Sony batteries. But if it fixes the terrible battery life. It's okay. I mostly shoot on a gimbal. So I like a smaller lighter battery.
BMPCC cameras are too good in the result images, and always moving forward with new ideas. Having Davinci available to the public for free and so on. Someone does not like it. And that someone wants/makes to change the Black Magik business strategy, and sends Black Magic in the wrong way, make them spend time and money for nothing. This is a business competition. It always happens. Wish, the Black Magic would not go in the wrong way too far.
The 180 degree adapter is only 20 not 40GB?
Yes sorry, but seems to be fine
I bought the items from your links, but it is not working. What do you think is the problem with it? the m.2 ssd is not beign read.
You need to format the drive first using your computer. Once formatted it will show up on your iPhone.
@@thesavagefilmmaker it is not being read by my pc as well.
The Pyxis is not for solo film maker. End of story.
Putting an outdated 2018 sensor in a new but, mediocre body is a fail in my book. I’ve decided to take a pass and go with a Komodo. Even Kinefinity has a better product on the market.
Komodo is not full frame and doesn’t have great audio inputs. Kinefinity doesn’t do Raw. But you certainly can’t beat Red Raw for colour grading.
@@thesavagefilmmaker - I don’t mind the trade off of super 35 and I’d rather have the global shutter instead of 19ms latency. Also, I intend to use external audio recording and timecode. I was really anticipating a more competitive camera and was willing to pay a little more but, they didn’t deliver. I’ve waited long enough time for them to get their act together and this camera doesn’t cut it. It’s their loss.
Thanks for this Review. As I saw that you used a screw on ND is there any vignetting using a screw on ND on the 45? Your accent sounds familiar like ZA am I right ? :)
Paul my man! Love your channel. Maybe a slight vignette but might be from shooting in open gate as opposed to the filter.
@@thesavagefilmmaker thank you and keep up the great work :)
There’s so many cameras out with the options you mentioned I wouldn’t even complain about the blackmagic. If it’s a problem, choose one better suited.
I did. But if you don’t complain you don’t get improvement. This is TH-cam mate where people share their opinions.
@@thesavagefilmmaker I understand you have an opinion, I wasn’t coming at you for that. I’m telling people in general if you don’t like what a single camera offers there are more out there to choose from these days. There’s no limit on options, but people want to spend a certain price and that is when there are omissions such as the ones you mentioned. The line up has the features you want, the price point does not
the only problem with using an iphone for film making is it looks like it was taken with an iphone.. why do people do these things?
The whole point of this video is that it no longer looks like it was taken on an iPhone, pro res has changed the game, it’s not perfect yet, but in a few more versions holy shit.
love your video man, but one question does it really require gen4 m.2 for the iphone 15 pro? is gen3 good enough for filming ProREs 422 LT?
Can’t say for sure as I have not tested.
Hello, 1.5x squeeze being the same as 2x on a super 35 ? It couldn't be more wrong or just wrong. S35 as 6K for example just define the horizontal of the sensor or mostly on super 35 the 35mm film meaning around 25mm on a verticaly positionned 35mm film and that without the space normally dedicated to the sound that's what Super stand for. The space between to images can offer a variety of format and the taller is 4/3 so the native film ratio for the 2X anamorphic scope. So that you know now ;)
I was really surprised when comparing the sound from the saramonic lav vs the Sennheiser shotgun! I had some saramonic systems in the past and they were noisy as hell, but then that seemed it was my old GH4's fault, as now with the BMPCC6KPro even a wired generic lav sounds great. Maybe i will give saramonic another try! Thanks for sharing and Im gonna look for your movie right now! Would you allow it to be shown on a private cineclub?
I'm not familiar with private cineclubs?
Obviously your lack of technical understanding is shining through like staring into the sun. The reason for not putting Built in ND filters is not the lack of space in the body. It’s because of the flange depth of the L Mount there is no room to fit the filters between the back of the lens and the sensor. That does not change because the body has more room it’s that way because that’s what L Mount requires. Had they have gone with a dedicated PL or LPL mount they could have done that. It’s built to a budget and a market. You can’t have everything for 3k.
So by that logic you're saying that both their EF version and their PL version could have had ND filters then? So.... which sun are you staring into? 😄😎
@@thesavagefilmmaker That’s correct they could have but that would have been a complete redesign of the optical block and a dedicated PL or EF models (not unlike we have now). But zero chance of that with any mirrorless mount. There simply isn’t any room. If they do this and I’m not saying they won’t be prepared to pay a lot more than 3k. Bit like the Pocket Cinema (L mount) and the 6k pro (EF mount) the pro is more expensive in spite of the fact that it has a cheaper sensor. The ND’s come at a price. I agree it would be great and maybe down the line they do that in PL and or EF. I couldn’t say why the only have 1 XLR but it might be that the 12g SDI has a price too and to mitigate against the higher price they cut one XLR ( while know isn’t just a plug A to D circuit etc) The fixed screen swivels cost money. Sony have had fixed side screens for years no protest from the market. Look at theBMD no holds barred 12K FF not much wanting there but it costs 15k (still cheap). For 15k you could buy 2 Sony or Arri Eye pieces. I don’t think BMD works in a vacuum but they are building to a budget and sometimes you have to compromise to hit the target. If they could add it for the price they would. Personally I think they get it more right than they get it wrong. Battery that is a strange one but there has to be a reason for it and it probably comes down to money. Komodo X $20k great camera but better than the 12k FF at $15k not even close. But I say if the Komodo X works better for you then spend the extra $17k over the Pyxis and you still won’t have built in ND’s but you will have the screen where you want it.
Thanks for the truth. I been researching trying to find real world results on making the jump. I still edit on a 2017 i7 5k iMac fully spec’d out shooting on Canon R6ii. I just transcode to proxies and it still works. Sure it’s not the fastest but it gets the job done for what I use it for. I’ll upgrade once Apple doesnt support my iMac then I’ll make the jump.
Glad I could help brother ❤️ editing without proxies is nice tho 🤣
@@thesavagefilmmaker ya I wouldn’t doubt it. It definitely would save time going Apple silicon 😆
Thank you! You are 100% correct. It's almost they were like, "here's your damn box camera, now leave us alone". Give us 2 damn xlr ports and a 120fps in at least 4k. This is the same company that won't let us record in BRaw via hdmi to the video assist. So stupid!
Roll on V2 hopefully with some more serious R&D.
100mm is disapointing. The other are great
I still find myself using it a fair bit stopped down.
@@thesavagefilmmaker t4 I guess looks ok. T2.8 is not usable I think. Show us more please:)

Glad I could help!
I see multiple nutrient deficiencies, like in cattle, over a prolongued time. Diet, diet, diet and what you eat and do not eat. Could it be? My gut and instinct tells me yes. Very sad. Look also up>youtube Could it be B12?
I’m afraid it has nothing to do with diet, MSA doesn’t discriminate, you can try any diet in the world, this is neurological.
Have you considered trying Kipon's EF-L speed booster with the 6k FF? Allows you to shoot 4k 60fps 17:9 with extra stop of light and better rolling shutter around 15ms while still maintaining FF coverage.
I’ve tried this method with my Komodo, but always noticed the drop in quality. Perhaps super 35 on the 6k FF would be different.
Beautiful images love the lens
Thanks brother!
I wonder.... was the man stalking her actually just the grim reaper? Waiting for her
🤔🤔🤔😳
Great stuff! Love that SSD setup. My only addition would be that by using various USB splitters you can also run auxiliary power and an external mic. It will make the rig a bit bigger, but having lots of power and avoiding the need to sync audio in post may be helpful to some users.
Does it support autofocus with ef mount on specific lenses ?
Not really, this does have one touch autofocus but it’s not continuous, so it’s not very useful.
8:31 there actually maybe another solution to adding pro audio to this set-up - the Dji mic 2 has Bluetooth to iPhone so no cables
Good option but have noticed the Bluetooth option drops the audio quality significantly.
For the Monitor, I would wait until they launch a Video Assist that use both USB-C for both power and video signal and control. Something that you need to pay a huge premium with RED (800 for a DVI by Red to 16Pin by RED to use your 3500 EVF, or a 3500 small HD monitor)
My mother had MSA and this is such a cruel disease. So very brave of Gregory and his loved ones to share his journey. My thoughts to all who are suffering from this and their families.
Thank you and my condolences, and best wishes for you and your family.
Boxcamera = rigging!!!!! always.
Rig me a proper v-mount option then Blackmagic!
