    Thank you Nev for sharing the results of another building project. I hope you found a few new problems to solve during the process. There always seems to be a few challenges that keep it interesting. Best regards, Tim.

      Hi Tim, thanks for your interest. They aren’t actually new projects, but it isn’t easy to get the right conditions to sail them both at the same time, so they haven’t been video’d for a while. The problems of squeezing everything in at that scale were uppermost at the time of building. When it comes to sailing, they’ll only stand so much in terms of wave height. The video day actually could have done with a bit more wind, but never mind, it was nice to sail them again.

      I've never watched radio controlled boats, either live or video. I was drawn in by the romance of the P liners and the Cape Horn transits. It's amazing how detailed your work is. I assume its screw driven but with the sails maneuverable some wind effect adds to the motion. I enjoyed the video and give you a cheer

      @@chiron14pl No need for it to be screw driven. I raced RC sailboats years ago, people were often surprised when the boats are lifted out of the water and they see there is no propeller.

      @@chiron14pl Hi, thank you for your comments. There are no propellers, the boats are driven by the wind alone. The sails are manoeuvred in the same way as those on the real ships, by bracing round the yards, to use the wind to best effect. They are great fun to sail.

      Hi, thank you. I don’t use winches, but sail arm servos, with centrally pivoted arms. If you look at my videos of the build of “Parma”, you’ll get the idea. Regards, Nev.

    I was astounded by the "dismasting" segment - (although I had thought that was "boxhauling") - something I'd sort of understood in concept but not quite followed. It looked beautiful on the video

    Hev, Queen Margaret is really wonder to watch. You captured her proportions beautiful. Her sheer shows nicely with her white hull and dark rails. And her sail plan is is a thing of beauty. You have her wonderfully setup and trimmed. You found a beautiful ship to model and sail, Thank you.

    Dear Neville, really wonderful seeing her sailing. One question, have you used the Underhill plan to build her? I am searching quite a while for a good plan of the AR. The only thing I found so far are the books of Edward Bowness which contain a plan too, but not of that quality. Gerald

    Holy cow! I thought the masts were turning ,but it's all the sails that pivot that's a lot of wires. I have a question: why don't we see more people make rc tall ships using kits? The conversion is not possible why? Your videos are very inspiring.

    • @nevwadewindjammer
      @nevwadewindjammer 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi. There are only two pairs of lines per mast, to operate the yards, so it’s not so complicated. As to why there aren’t any kits of sailing square-riggers, I suppose it’s because there aren’t enough people who are interested. There is a Revell kit of the “Alexander Von Humboldt”, but it doesn’t sail, only has a motor, which I think defeats the object.

    Beautiful ship! Do you need a motor to help it sail up wind or it's good on it's own? I'm doing the research to build a tall ship. Don't know wich one yet. There are sooo many beautiful ship models.

    • @nevwadewindjammer
      @nevwadewindjammer 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi, thank you. There are no motors, only the sails. If you build a model, you must get the yards to brace round to within 30deg of the centreline of the hull, in order for the model to sail to windward. If you get it right, the model will sail to 65deg to the wind, no better. Good luck!
