Where Legends Live.
In the century since the first warbirds took to the air, our brave military pilots have had a common mission. To preserve our freedom at all costs on the vast and daunting battlefield of the sky. This is the Lewis Air Legends mission: to preserve their memory while honoring their bravery and sacrifice. To bring the thrill of their incredible flying machines - and those they fought against - to as many people as possible in a truly international display of historic airpower. Especially to young people. Our pioneer aviators and heroes inspired Rod Lewis in his boyhood passion for flight, patriotism and love of American history. So it is for future generations that Lewis Air Legends will be a living, flying tribute to those who dreamed, built, supported and flew our brilliant birds of war.

Tense moments for the Connie over Sun N’ Fun
During the Sun N Fun airshow routine with the Connie, it was discovered that there was a front landing gear issue. Watch the tense moments in the air as these experienced pilots trouble shoot the issue only to discover another issue seconds after landing. The crew, made up of Rod Lewis, Stewart Dawson, Jeff Whitesell, Jim "JD" Dale, Steve Hinton, and John Hinton put their heads together to resolve the issue so the Connie could reliably fly once again.

Lewis Air Legends: What does it really take?
We live in the age where people spend so much time on their electronic devices and think everything is fake now... Can't even appreciate real stuff like this, art.
Amazing. Lucky men.
Wonderful video! Goosebumps!! A unique presentation that captures us!!!
I would hope not to fly with such a dysfunctional pair of pilots. Good demonstration of what happens when there's no authority gradient. Also two Captains ...... rarely works well when things go wrong. Democracy doesn't work.
They did and excellent job restoring her and she looks like new!
Tense moments in the cockpit there, scared, hell no, focused 100 percent to resolve the problem. airmen of the highest calibre.
Красавчик.
Beautiful machine. Just gorgeous.
What a beauty! ❤🤠
The connie is one of very few aircraft that looks fast and graceful just sitting still.😊
That was a lesson in cockpit resource management right there. And their decision making process was superb, especially under stress.
Look at you. Aint you pretty! ❤
So what was the cause of the nose gear problem after all that?
The startup is just pure MAGIC
It would have been nice if they showed what the root cause of the problem with the front gear was.
beautiful airplane but the pilots are rest home material has to be a point where you are too old to fly safely,
I was lucky to see Connie fly over my place here on the West Wales coast, heading for home after attending a Berlin airlift commemoration some years ago, not high up, it was a memorable site.
Is this real or fake
Great Video showing the crews experience in handling the nose gear fault. They did it successfully by memory. Nice job! With USAF markings on the beautiful Connie I'm not surprised AF pilots would react and operate that way. in which the reactions were done by memory and not a checklist. They mentioned a checklist for this situation but never utilized it. Very dangerous evolution. Navy Pilots of the Lockheed Constellation would have immediately broke out the NATOPS Checklist for this condition and reacted accordingly with most likely the same results. Moreover, using the checklist is the better guarantee of success rather than using memory and supposed knowledge of the AC systems. Checklists are proven and certainly more reliable than supposed knowledge and memory, but great video and nice job!
Stop Playing Music During The video , it ruins it , I turned Off , wish I didnt have to , Pity to many vids spoiled by bad editing decisions
The First AF-1. Ike flew in a Connie during his administration.
Best 3 engine airplane ever.
Have 2700 Logged Hours As Navy VW-4 HURRICANE HUNTER Aircrewman; 1965-69.
What plane I flew across the Pacific several hops but it's beautiful sleek And pretty fast!!
Not quit the f7f I was searching for but wow
Who was the Captain???
Thanks to all for preserving this American history!
And you never revealed what the landing gear issue was. But you were sure to add some turd music. Do me a favor. Ok. Stay away from making any more public videos.
WHAT IS THE REASON FOR YOUE GOD-DAMNED MUSIC BACKGROUND??????? DAMMIT. YOU RUINED THE VIDEO. SHIT
The most stretched out Wildcat I’ve ever seen. Seriously thought the black and white treaty film brings out the beauty of that Constellation.
Beautiful airplane!
I'm coming back about our constellation in Nantes France, that plane was an Air France plane under the registration code:F-BGNJ,she carried Grâce Kelly, Edith Piaf and many Well knowed people By the end of the fifties and the beginning of the sixties, thank's for following,Stéphane Lorcy, Nantes France.
Hello Steve Hinton,i live in France in Nantes and we have also a Lockeed Super G concerveted in our airport, at that time, she is not flying today, just static exhibition here in France, i 'm thinkin' that it Will be too much expensive To do it fling again but she is looking good and very Nice,Great thanks To see your one still flying, what à Nice Bird anyway,Stéphane Lorcy from Nantes France
Dude that was amazing! Huge achievement! Congratulations!!! 👏👏👏😎
Gear down with 3 greens...no cycleing!
Folks back then could make unbelievable things with a drawing board , a slide rule, and the trusty old machinist's handbook...no CAD...no CNC...just plain ole imagination and trial and error.........now a days, we are totally dependent on China for nearly all aspects of engineering......our foundries are nearly gone, our tooling industry is a shell of what it was even 20 years ago.....make me fear for the future of the USA
I love black and white photography very nice
Who is PIC? Who ever it was the other one should shut up.
