Glasgow Subway Trains- CAMT179

The first city in the world to have underground metro trains was London, the second was Budapest and the third was Glasgow. Unlike London and Budapest however Glasgow's one line circular system has never been added to or extended since its opening in 1896. It also retains the same 4ft gauge track and 11ft tube tunnels, which make the modern rolling stock feel tiny by comparison with most cities...
Cute Tube Mice Footage- CAMT178
มุมมอง 227ปีที่แล้ว
Within the deep level London Underground system live thousands of Tube Mice. They live all their lives in the tunnels never seeing the light of day. They scavage on crumbs of litter and are very timid of humans. They're best seen at platform ends in the early morning or late at night, just before the last trains run. But even then they seem to instictively know that they are best camouflaged ag...
How Loud is the London Underground?- CAMT177
มุมมอง 656ปีที่แล้ว
Chris and Archie take a simple Decibel Meter for a day out on the London Underground to measure the noise volume and pitch frequency of those nasty flange squeals. We find out exactly how loud the London tube system is, compare it with a rock band in Camden and discuss if the noise is within safe limits. We used a free app called simply 'Decibel Meter'. I tried a few alternatives and found this...

Is really old and some cables fell apart when l tried to untangle them. I am so excited about it but l think l have to take it to one of those places where they know about this trains and help me how to put it together to make it work.

I was brought up in Lampeter in 1950s. I lived for several years overlooking the station . We had to cross the track to get to our home. My father popped into the refreshment rooms on his way home for a few pints most days.. The landlady was Mrs. Rogers. The milk train went off towards Aberaeron each evening. It was a little 0-6-0. The drivers would often give us a hoot and flash the carriage lights. There were a few railway cottages by the track and they regularly got a a shovel full of coal as the train passed. I once watched a lorry trying to race a train to the crossing. The lorry lost. Quite a bit of shunting went on at Lampeter and I enjoyed watching the man with a big metal pole levering the wagons into place by placing the pole under the wheels.

I travelled on the Caledonian Sleeper way back in 2008. Still had the 1970s style carriages back then. It departed London Euston, but instead of taking the west coast route, it used the ECML to Edinburgh Waverley, where the train divided (I was travelling to Inverness). I must admit, I didn't properly hit the sack until about 02:50, when we were passing through my home town of Morpeth! After that, I was completely spark-out until we had passed Pitlochry. Surprisingly I slept well on the CS. Mind you, I would certainly like to travel on it again.

Watford is a pickup/set down point on the Lowland sleeper but on the Highland one pickup only and it doesn't set down there on it's way south. The Lowland one stops at Carlisle and Cairstairs, where the Edinburgh and Glasgow sections split. There is an unadvertised stop at Preston too at about 0330 and with the old stock they took the central door locking off there although you weren't meant to get off.I have only been on the new stock twice and I noticed that the doors remained shut at Preston although the buttons lit up.

Manually switching is not how it's usually done, but it's quite often sight in Zagreb. There is a switch on the tram's control panel. As the driver slowly approaches to the direction switch, he moves the control switch to the right in order to switch the direction switch, or to the left if it needs to stay as it is. Basically, the tram gives an "electric shock" to switch mechanism and so it moves left and right based on direction that driver chooses. There are occasions like this when direction switches don't work whether they're broken, the driver gave signal too early, or they are manual only (only two manual switches exist in Zagreb, one on the turning point "Maksimir", and the second one on turning point "Heinzelova street"). The one you're reffering to in the video is on Savska road and it's electrical. Since two drivers in a row had to manually change the switch, it's probably broken.
