Fernandes posted a photo of himself, topless and getting a massage during a work call on LinkedIn. He was rightly criticized and called out for his behaviour. Would he have accepted such behaviour from his junior staff during a meeting with him? Or is it a case of 'do as i say, not as i do' scenerio?

I fully agree on the lack of respect, one of my preferences with zoom meeting is to not turn on my camera if possible and fortunately, every single one of my managers since 2020 has been fine with it. Regarding WFH, I would oppose some of the boomers here and I would say it is for the better especially for engineering as a whole. It's quite commonly known non-comsci engineers are kind of paid like absolute crap and HR will 100% lowball the hell out of you, so why even bother, pay peanuts and you shall get monkeys, as the saying goes. With WFH, I find that I am also much more effective and efficient with work, I can slack off and run off to JB once in a while during weekdays, but there's also the voice at the back of my head telling me to actually achieve the solution for real instead of pretending to work had I been in the office.

Honestly you have good takes on the situation 👍 it's something that our current workplace has evolved into. To be frank, like the saying goes "police in the past wore shorts" 😂 things truly changed and the cultural shift through time really dictates the societal norms. I think after gen z , Alpha and what's next... It will be "flexible like crazy". Everyone is /have seen streamers online, and I think it might go that way, blurred lines from work and leisure. I begin to shudder.. Why? In future, is it work for almost any time and any day? I say this because of tech and social media, we're literally on it once we wake up and till the time we sleep 😮

Hybrid work, work both ways. you can do your own things while working as well. same for after working hours. it blurred the boundary.

It's just plain rude to focus on anything other than the tasks at hand during the discussion. Thankfully, this was just a marketing campaign and not a real-life scenario. Now, on the topic of Grace, she's definitely crossed into the realm of our favorite NS terminology: Chao Keng. But honestly, if you're going to 'keng,' at least do it smartly lah! Her ghosting the office and sneaking onto a flight is next-level, though-it points to a bigger issue around pushing boundaries. I feel like the younger workforce is really testing how far they can prod the system-like poking a sleeping bear just to see what happens. My advice to the younger generation is simple: don’t test the system. The system knows, the system sees, and the system remembers who to eject when it needs to.

As long as the work gets done, who cares where you are. Commuting to work is such a waste of time and sucks your energy. Having said that, being in an office environment is probably more productivity with less distraction. Speaking from experience, having been a freelancer who has been working from home and sometimes need to be at client office. Usually get a lot done when I am at client office. Case in point...I am watching this video now, instead of clearing project work...hahahaha.

Gaining knowledge, applying it and reflecting takes lot of time and patience. Most people won't do it and don't have the patience for it. I speak from experience as I'm also the same person that lost money to scams and hasty decisions. These days go slow and steady, more of balancing between slow and steady. Go Alvin!
