Short answer - because the Pro800 sounds NOTHING like a Prophet 5 !

I have Slim Phatty, and it sounds soo good. I especially like the deep bass sequences. It sounds just right. I'm thinking about getting a second one.

Because people like to play an instrument and the p800 is half an instrument. A good sounding half of a Prophet 600, not a Prophet 5. People want to PLAY!

I saved up for a new 2022 Moog model D and ultimately decided to pass. I just don't trust the build quality. Its crazy they couldn't build 1960's technology.

The Pro-800 is the "budget version" of the Prophet 600 which was in turn the budget version of the Prophet 5 so its very unfair to compare the Pro-800 against the Prophet 5, since it is kind of a budget synth of a budget synth of the Prophet 5.

Try using the Berhinger Poly D….has a sequencer…..a 4th oscillation bank…a Juno chorus…..and beautiful distortion…oh yeah…it also speaks and connects with today’s modern gear.

If your still have the inversion issue preventing you using your Moog slim phatty I can tell you how to sort it. I had the same issue and it did my head in but I sussed it out. Let me know

Thats a bummer. I saw this behaviour on another video but honestly thought it would be normal. Are the minimoogs reliable or require much service in general? I mean in terms of calibration over the years. I guess the new re-issues should be a more painfree owning experience.

ok. first the synth is reversed and confused me. but how is it the poster is not reversed. what voodoo magic is going on

try reseating the let and right main circuit boards where they are connected - worked for me - they are either pluged directly into each other o - by a cable that will need reseating. Unplugged of course, 240 volts hanging out inside there.

The Minimoog Model D is the perfect solo mono synth. It is limited in the sounds it can make but what it can is so beautiful and distinctive. I had a few in my time and I wish I kept one. I can't afford or refuse to pay that much for one now.

Obviously Sweetwater would never say anything negative about a unit they are trying to sell. I would not be impressed by this.

How are you able to pay for these synths? Is the money made from music or a high payed job, or where You just born with money?

I dont get things delivered like that, not sure where You live but in block that package 100% be stolen. Also even if I watched to have expensive gear in My home, I wouldn't because someone would probably break in to take it and everything.

It's a different market - I don't think the existence of the Poly D is going to stop anybody who has and is willing to spend the $5,000+ on the real deal from doing so, nor do I think the market for the Poly D would really ever be willing to spend the $5,000+ on a real Model D. I for one am glad we live in a time where we have both options available, and at the end of the day I only want to judge what you DO with these synths.
