I thought the colour inside the fuselage was green... Yellow zinc chromate was usually the initial promer colour
Detail looks great! Not sure if its my screen but that interior colour looks way too bright, almost more like zinc chromate rather than the green that was used. Excellent progress though, this is going to be real impressive
Thanks It was a fun build
Excellent video! Thank you! I was getting frustrated with the seam lines and what not on this old kit (ok I’m much older than the kit) and after watching your video, it gave me patience and confidence.

OMG, looks like you are framing a deck! LOL. That is overkill. I guess walking on the layout you got covered. :)

Our grandfather saw a B-24 shot down in April 1945; the crew survived by ejecting.
HK does good work sadly like Tamiya they prefer unrealistic recessed panel lines that should be a butt joint not a separated one but it works. So far the only Revell version of this in 1/48th scale I've seen that really went cheap and lacks detail are the newer Memphis belle versions, all the other Revell kits are fine and some are old Monogram molds. Great video as always!
Mike good tip on sanding down the gun barrels and add gun sights. Have to try it
Gene I scraped them down with a number 11 x-acto blade.
Great video
Thanks!
Instead of using all that tape on large areas I use plastic wrap (Saran wrap) with a taped edge. It will save you a lot of time and tape.
Great series - have learned a lot of great techniques from your books as well as these video's. I like that you are using older kits that can be successfully enhanced.
Glad to hear!
I built this kit in the 70s when it first came out, still have it. I'm thankful you're using older kits in your builds. I intend to use some of your tips and ideas when I build and rebuild my older kits
Mike I built the j model b 24 back in the early 80's. It was nice build except the rear and front gun turrets. Those halls with the lines down the middle just kind of ruins the kit. Saw your one of the one peace turrets and should make a big difference on the rear turret. Also did you get that b 24 from ebay? I get leary about buying stuff from them. Like your work and keep it up. Enjoy your heads up on problems it helps me on fixing some of these problems.😊😊😊😊

Thank you Mike. Excellent reference photos there. As you are about to start this new series of building the B-24 D, it would be greatly appreciated if you list the tools and materials you are using in this build in the videos description. Your welcome
Like your great uncle my uncle was a b24 machinic in the pacific. Where in the pacific I don't know. His brother my father was on board the uss san francisco during the war. Dangerous times in our country's history.
Yes those times were ugly
Great video. This brings back a lot of memories of many weekends inside this aircraft when I lived in Tucson. I did a lot of cleaning inside this bird and know that it is all original inside because it came to Pima from the Indian air force and was never stripped or modified. It just sucks that someone thought it would be a good idea to try to machine polish the outer skin. It has to be done with a dual action polisher or preferably by hand .. It was called Shoot Your Covered with a blonde cowgirl on the side of it and it was outside when I worked on it. 😁
It's really cool that you can walk up to and under it. The only other Air Museum that allows you to do that is the Pensacola naval Air Museumm.

Nice tutorial on air brushing Mike. I use those dental brushes to help clean my brush, they come in different sizes. They also can be recleaned or thrown away. They are cheap and also a lot of q tips. Never heard of using CO2 for air brushing. Where do you get your tank & refills? I also use copper plated BB's for mixing👍

@@spookybaba Maybe!!
Did you find part-1 helpful?
Mike like you I have always used enamel paints. To me they are superior to the acrylics in most every way. Found out the hard way on these new formulated humbrol paints about the thinner on mixing. They don't like thinner and will separate in a few days causing a blob of paint on the bottom of the jar that will not mix. There old formula is not that way and still have some from back in the 80's that are still good. The revell paints do mix well with regular thinner which is my go to for now until testor gets it head out of you know what and starts to make paint again that we had before. A lot of these other enamel paints require there own thinner making it expensive to keep doing this hobby....
If only the Model Master paint line still existed. They always went on smoothly.
The Testors enamel 1/4 oz bottles are almost as good.
I'm glad I bought up a large stash of them. Especially the metalizers. Try MCW paints though, they're pretty comparable.
This series will be helpful for many that use or are interested in airbrushing, Mike. I have over forty years experience working with airbrushes and paint guns. From the inexpensive to high end models. The dual action design is more than 130 years old. The expensive brands were developed mostly for professional graphic artists until computer graphics took over. I worked for an art supply store in the mid 80s selling them to pro artists that could justify the price. For hobbyists an inexpensive dual action airbrush will perform as desired. This is what I use now. As you point out, without proper maintenance/discipline, all airbrushes will have problems spraying. I have an industrial compressor and large tank in a shed next to the garage with an airline system with three water traps for dry air. Was always a fan of Model Master enamels but when returning to the hobby in 2018 reluctantly switched to acrylics. I now find them to be superior and the range of quality brands and colours is incredible. To prevent tape pull up I will put a coat of Pledge over the acrylic paint. Varnish works as well.
Agreed. Unfortunately Pledge is no longer available.
@@scalemodeling But Quick Shine Multi-Surface Floor Finish is, and works just as well.
No offense, but this makes modelling dull( not boring) just dull. There are better ways to mask openings. Just my opinion.
awesome!!!!
Thanks It's been a fun project
Unless you will need to walk over the whole layout, this seams to be way over built for a model train lay out. What I have used in the past and I have seen used lately are 1 X 3s or 1 X 4s or combinations of each. And with some extra bracing I believe you could build walkways into the layout where needed.
Nice overview of the kit, Mike!!! 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
