4 CLUB challenge with a tour PRO
Hi guys, thank you for stopping by to check out the video.
This video was filmed in May this year (2024) at Serengeti Estates In Johannesburg. A fantastic residential estate all round with a cracking golf course designed by the big man himself, Jack Nicklaus.
We were so fortunate to be able to play with Kyle Barker, who is genuinely one of the nicest tour pro's I have met and was truly generous with his time.
This is 1 of 3 x 6 hole videos we filmed on the day.
I hope you enjoy the video.

A fantastic day but also a nervy one. You will hear the sound isn't the best as we only had 1 shotgun mic and had to try and make it work for 3 guests. I hope you enjoy the video. Hi guys, thank you for stopping by to check out the video. This has been a long standing issue in my golf swing and one that I have tried to live with, but its now time to start addressing it head on. If we look at the majority of professionals on tour, they mostly play with a flat or slightly flexed wrist. This isnt to say that there haven't been great players with a cupped wrist set, however,...

Crisp sound - definitely worth the upgrade. Any insights as to why you chose Rode over DJI mics?
In all honesty when I did my research DJI just didn't seem to come up. Not sure how I missed them. Looking at review sites, I'd say that Rode often come up on top anyway so I'm happy I've chosen these ones. The final thing is that Rick Shiels uses them so that was the kicker for me
Man, one thing I learned is “today ain’t happening” 😂 That wind was crazy and as much fun golf can be, and we want to play, in those sorts of conditions very little positive comes from it. Well done for making half way around before getting about the record button. I remember playing in wind like that at St George’s and it near on killed me.
Really agree with you on this one. The only positive that came from it was likely the fact that I don't have a lot of quit, which is a good thing 🤣 Also a wake up call that my wrist angles were just not cutting it. Not 'never again', but pretty close to 👍
Impressive you even started playing in that wind
That's one way to look at it 🤣👊
Nice video . Good luck with the channel 👍
Thanks mate really appreciate that 🙌
NO IM AFRAID NOT.
Love the honesty Alastair 👊 I'm workin on it 🤣
Good work, swing looking 👌🏼
Thank you bud, lots of work to do but a good base to build from 👍
I love de Zalze. :) After Arabella (which I have very close personal connection to), its my favourite course in Cape Town. It's a bit brave playing De Zalze only allowing 3 drop shots 😅
Brave or stupid, not sure which😂 Arabella was unreal and super keen to play Pearl Valley Next
Dude love the vid keep up the work
Thank you bro, really appreciate that 🙏🙏
Great vid man but i was wondering what shot tracer do you use??
Thanks very much! At the moment Im using 'shot tracer app'. It works on android and Apple phones as well as my macbook pro. Not sure about other laptops. Hope that helps 👍
This looks like it would be an amazing place to play!
It was unreal Zac👍 will definitely be going back to hopefully see more wildlife. Holes are often closed off if there's a lion kill on a Fairway for example so lots more to see
Hello Sir, How are you? I saw your videos on TH-cam. As an Expert I must say, your video Content is good but not properly SEO. Your SEO score is very poor. No SEO-friendly Title & Description, No keywords in the Title & Description, No ranking keywords in video & Channel Tags and many more errors. That's why your channel is not growing organically.
"Discovering Why Your TH-cam Content Isn't Ranking"
Nice - what you driving here (ballpark), as a great tempo!
Hi John, thanks very much mate, appreciate that 👍 I'm normally around 270 on the course. Keep wondering if id get more out of a newer driver as mine is the Titleist 915D3🤷
is this called top golf or different company? looks a lot different than mine
It's Top Golf in Watford mate, just outside of London
love the content bruddaaaa keep it up!!!
Thank you bro🙏🙏🙏
Dan, out of all golf videos - this is probably the best without the rambling and BS. Please post more of these scenic and 'no-talking' videos....
Thanks mate really appreciate that. I will definitely do more of these. Got trips back to South Africa this year planned with some very scenic courses so will definitely do a few there
This is a great little nugget of info mate, thanks 👌
Because you're not releasing from the top. "As long as your lower body is moving towards the target, you can never release too soon" Jack Nicklaus
This is an interesting one. If you look at my swing from the side, I get narrow, meaning it makes it really hard to then release the club head at the ball. What you're seeing makes sense 👍👍
hands should move closer to your body the first part of the backswing..clubface looks good..
Try this. Both hands should wrap the grip opposite side with tension, this helped me balance it.
Nice one mate, I'll give that a go👌👌
Goring?
Yes indeed👌👌
Bloody hell. 😅 It’s one of the rounds where the score just leaked away… I have never thought of golf in Morocco I have to say, but nice looking course if you can drive it straight.
Yup indeed, a case of me probably not getting out of my own way🤣 it was really great actually, and we only played 3 courses of which only 1 was in the top 10. Will definitely be going back 👌
Hole 9 drive definitely did not land on the grass 😂 🐫
Just off 🤣
Love seeing the different courses you are playing, Dan. I know first hand that you absolutely stripe the ball, and those swing changes are starting to bed in for ya 👊🏼. Lets have a round next time you're at hadden (when the bloody rain stops 😂)
Thanks bud, appreciate that 🙏 haha, maybe in 10 years they will bed in nicely 🤣🤣 sounds good man👍👍
Ugh ! Tough day on the links eh ? Ain’t golf just like that ? Well done for hanging in there when anything that could go wrong ..did . Still fun to watch Dan .
Hi Nick, as a new creator this type of comment is pretty special mate. Really appreciate it🙏 was definitely a tough day haha. Pretty sharp learning curve that changing a swing you've had for 22 years isn't going to happen in 6 months 🤣
I feel that😂
It's tough man 😂
For sure, short game is key. Pity about the two lost balls. When you're playing alone, losing a ball is so much easier. Take those away and you're around in not much at all. I know this was shot in the summer at Sonning (which is great course) and things may have changed with the swing, but you can't swing left and have an open face. That differential is going to make the ball move so much more to the right in the air. For a fade, you only need one or the other... :) Roll on summer. I am getting tired of the cold and playing in mud now.
Thanks for the feedback mate. Just for some context, at the start of the summer (and my filming) I started working with a coach for the first time and we stripped back my swing quite drastically and started making changes. So you are spot on with your assessment. My plan is that as the channel progresses, so the swing will to. It will also need to as some very cool guests planned coming up 🤣
That’s a tough ask with having to create on just about every shot with massive gaps in distances between clubs. But still, well done. If it was me, being a short hitter, I’d take 5 wood, 7 iron, 54 wedge and putter.
Yeah this was a real tough one tbh. I think I'd just started the swing changes so confidence was low. Yours sound like good choices. I'll do it again at some point, and may put in a 48 degree instead of 56
Great stuff Dan! If you ever get to Portugal let me know and we’ll do a vlog together 👌
Will defo take you up on that bud, been wanting to play there for a long time 🏌️🏌️
@@thespringbokgolfer yeah do it, see you soon then ✌🏻

haha, I'm here for you man!!
Love the video Dan! Keep them coming!
Thank you bud, really appreciate that 👍 lots in the tank for you guys 👌
It takes some getting used to playing in front of the camera but also deal with all the faff that goes with it. Give us a shout in the spring / summer. Come and play with me around one (or more) of the courses at Frilford Heath.
Hi Graham, thanks for the comment. Definitely does take some getting used to. Really appreciate the offer, I'm only down the road at Hadden Hill so not far. Will give you a shout👍 let me know where's best to get in touch
curious why you left S.A. I hear it has become a dangerous collapsing society...is this true?
I left originally on gap year and then stayed until now (10 years ish) as I got work and just got a bit stuck really. I definitely wouldn't say it's a collapsing society. Lots of SA is just so beautiful and very cheap if travelling with pounds euros etc. It is more dangerous than for eg the UK but it's just requires a little more Street smarts. I am hoping to spend more time in Cape Town filming as the channel grows. If you love golf, it's a paradise 👍
All in all pretty good job. The wind is an occasional sound problem, but not too off putting...There is a lot of competition out there in YT golf, find something unique to stand out......good luck with the channel...
Hi Chris, thanks for the input. Ya at the time didn't even have a mic but now onto a rode shotgun mic and even that's not to my liking so will end up going the lapel route I think. Definitely got a unique lane which will become more apparent in time. Thanks very much for the feedback 👍👍
Those greens are gorgeous. What's a round cost for a course like that in the UK?
Chris is one of the best greenkeepers around. Surfaces are always top draw. This sort of course would normally be around £35 - £50 a round. Top courses anywhere from £85 to £350
@@thespringbokgolfer That's remarkable; here in California a sub-par muni (pun intended) would be around $75 - $90 (£70 - £83) and a course with greens of this caliber would probably be significantly more. Keep up the good work, I quite enjoyed this video. My only suggestion would be to maybe get a windscreen to stick over the microphone on the camera.
@@HerrMez wow that's really pricey. I've just been home to South Africa and filmed at some really Stellar courses. With the exchange rate it was about £50 a round, so the exchange rate is where it's at 🤣 thanks very much for the feedback, have the rode shotgun mic with a deadcat on now but will soon move to the rode lapel mics 👍
Love the content! I just started playing golf in September and it’s nice to see good honest golf. I’ll be watching for the long haul.
Hey bud thanks for the comment, really appreciate the support. Lots of content on the way for you👍
love the way the crows abandon the tree before your second shot. (Time 4:05)🤣
🤣🤣🤣🤣
picture quallity is great sound is awful. i was hopefull but i am out, i dont enjoy watching pretty average golf but some may. i would look for a scratch friend and partner up.
I’m actually curious as to why you think your opinion matters?
@@jaysimms2648. Where did I say my opinion mattered. I didn’t but the creator asked for opinions, how can he create a product that works in the space without honest reactions. The film quality was great but the sound needs a lot of work. He’s not a great golfer so adding a partner may make the product more enjoyable. Watching a guy play bogie golf on his own is probably not going to work imo.but jay if your feelings got hurt I guess we’re both going to have to live with that❤️
Hey Mark thanks for the feedback, appreciate the points made. Lots of work done on the swing for the last 6 months and still going so hope to bring you back in at some point. All the best mate
@@thespringbokgolfer The swing is a never ending process. Iam 63 and my exact is 3.5 and I still have lessons. Work hard.
@@thespringbokgolferI wouldn’t take his opinion to heart. I think this content targets a lot of people as you’re a decent golfer and people enjoy watching relatable golf.
