We go to Ocean Falls on a SEADOO
มุมมอง 4Kปีที่แล้ว
Ava and I travel from Bella Cool British Columbia to the very remote mostly deserted isolated town of Ocean Falls. Ocean Fall is an old company town that was created and ran by a paper mill company. Only ways to get to the town are by boat or float plane. We travel the fjords from 6am to get the calmest waters and best fuel efficiency as you can't even buy gas in Ocean Falls. Take a look with u...

Seadoo to the top of Niagara Falls, How close can you get?
มุมมอง 11K2 ปีที่แล้ว
We were curious after riding the rapids, we thought the river would be little boring and we could get closer to the falls, but truth is that before you can feel like your in danger, you have to follow the Johnny law and move to the left towards Welland Canal. However once this happened, that was our halfway point. Beautiful river and water to travel down with one gas station for your only fill ...
Seadoo Niagara Falls Rapids Man goes down in whirlpool!
มุมมอง 31K2 ปีที่แล้ว
Marina Mafia jumps in for the risky ride up Niagara river to the level 5 rapids, making your way up river past the hydro dams past the BIG rapid and finally to the whirl pool. You will see man go underwater with the Seadoo and also another flip over off his Seadoo in the rapids. Making your way to the whirlpool seems to be as far as anyone is allowed to go, but I don't know if we would dare fur...

Cooking/Camping from Seadoo/Boat
มุมมอง 4K3 ปีที่แล้ว
Hey Guys, the Mafia was busy today, so as a member I kept the vibes going, I traveled out to familiar places, but I packed to eat, drink, and sleep from the Seadoo/boat. I had to figure out what securement methods and items to bring to make it comfortable and confident experience. I always love staying overnight on the water, but I show you how I went about it. Also the Lovely Ava makes and app...
St Clair Trip
มุมมอง 3.7K3 ปีที่แล้ว
First time out with a couple friend to St Clair River. We rode our Seadoo's from Sarnia down the river heading south to Lake St Clair where we were pulled over by the sheriff and also found ourselves lost without cell service to find a bay leading back to the other entrance of the north channel river to Sarnia. We used around 85 Litres of gas each for the rough trip and took about 6 hours havin...

Blue Mountain - Snowboarding with friends
last summer I heard radio from channel 16, US coast guard calling for assistant if anyone nearby, while i was cleaning by boat in Toronto Harbour , two jet skiers capsized in Niagara river, no idea if rescued at the end, but life is shorter when play with luck .
All a matter of risk tolerance.
You err in info:The town was alive in the 1970s. It started closing in the 80s.
Yes I’ve enjoyed this correction, met some people born in the town those last 10 years
They say it’s appx. 160 dt deep on average near the Falls. Is it the same downstream?
I bet the whirlpool is that deep, but I don’t know.
next time try the upper rapids next to goat island...double dog dare ya.
I remember turning the whirlpool looking at those rapids and didn’t see a signal smooth section
Went on a salmon charter there by dam and we said do we need to wear life jackets he said no if you go in the water it will just take you longer to hit the bottom. 3 weeks after another charter boat flipped and the captain and wife of the 2 clients both died with life jackets on. It’s all fun and works out till it don’t.
You’re absolutely right
Back in 1958 my mom was out in their Chris Craft speedboat off Grand Island and she saw a boat driving under the bridge. She took off and caught it about 500 yards passed the bridge. The guy had been sleeping and his anchor line broke and when he started the boat it fouled the propeller. She was able to tow him to safety and get him into a marina. She said that she was really wondering if she could make it, her boat was fast and powerful but the current is relentless. The guy was a doctor on his first day off in 9 days. My mom refused to take any money from him. He got the address from the registration on the boat. Two months later she opened a letter and there were 7 $100.00 bills and the note "Thanks for saving my life, now you have to take the money."
That’s incredible actions to hear about there. Wow, what a great way for everything to work out.
... as always, Idi*ts on wave runners doing reckless acts to get their jollies.
That is 178 km away from the falls it’s okay
5.5km from the falls :) the whirlpool to the falls is 5.5, beginning of the rapids is maybe 11km from the falls at queenston docks.
I'm from Niagara Falls. While I enjoyed the views of the river raging up close, you took a real risk. So many deaths in that river. It's not one to be toyed with. I'm glad you came back out but I wouldn't ever try it again if I were you. Next time, just enjoy taking a ride through the rapids on the one of the jet boats. ;)
Awesome vid…. That explorer looks like a very capable machine
do we ever put them to the test!
"They call me the wrangler!" Lol that's hillarious
Im quite familiar with this river, and can confirm that this is a fool's game. Even at Devil's Hole, the currents are not stable. They fluctuate with the volume of water flow which is determined by how much if the river is diverted by hydro. That will change throughout the day. As for the whirlpool. That's a whole different monster! In most rivers, that water would just turn clockwise around the bend. This doesn't happen in Niagara. The volume of water is so massive that as the river enters the whirlpool, it creates an underwater waterfall. The flowcontinues in a counter clockwise direction for 270 degrees before it continues on down to Devil's Hole. This whirlpool has the strength to potentially pull your Seadoo and rider down. The water here is very deep, and I've been told jetskis have been pulled down and never resurfaced. It's very hard to put into words just how lucky that downed rider was to survive that. Please don't ever go back into the whirlpool on these toys. Devil's Hole is dangerous enough, but going into the whirlpool was Russian roulette. You were beyond lucky once. Don't temp this river to take you because she can very easily.
I lived up there about 25 years ago, and I used to take my 21 foot speedboat up into the Whirlpool. The most dangerous part is getting past Devils Hole. But I stayed to the right (Canadian) side, and I had about 450 horsepower and I’d gun it and make it over this “wall of water”. Once past that, it’s smooth riding into the Whirlpool. The Whirlpool itself is actually pretty calm, up until you get to where the rapids start. There are a lot of hydraulics and little mini whirlpools that form and dissipate in a minute or two. Obviously, I never tried to go into the Whirlpool rapids. But I would zoom all around the Whirlpool, and even put my boat in neutral and let the current take my boat around in a big circle. I would float around there for a half hour and then head back. You can find a video here on TH-cam of a couple of guys who built a special boat, and they hugged the shore and went into the Whirlpool rapids and all the way up to the falls. Now THATS crazy!! I used to go up into the Whirlpool with my friend Mike on my boat every summer, we would shoot up there 10-20 times each year. That all being said, I wouldn’t recommend anybody going past Devils Hole, and not into Devils Hole rapids and beyond. Even at the Power Plant, hydraulics form and it can be a little risky. I knew the river well, but even then, 1 wrong move or bad twist of luck and it can be all over in a flash.
Helmet?
Did this 20 years ago on an HX. I got up to the whirl pool took a weird wave and turned back. It’s deff a different animal. Great video.
Second thoughts definitely a real thing when you go under
That’s what jet skis were made for! Hell yeah!🎉
That’s the energy!
One of my favorite places on Earth. Spent thousands of hours in that gorge.
It’s incredible
I swam through that once but I had my water wings on.
I feel like we would need more
Is Canada & us be able to be on water same time ?
Yes Americans and Canadians can both be riding together, you can even cross to land if you call immigration.
As someone who has been riding racing quads and waverunners and small speed boats for 20 years or so. I can tell yall this place is no joke. I have crossed the gulf and drove from Tampa all the way to the keys and the Bahamas by myself. This however I would never attempt alone. Dudes lucky he didn't get sucked uneder
Off roading on water 🤔 I like it
That’s probably the best way to think about it, I like it!
My home marina!
It’s incredible
Solid question here in the event of an engine failure are you SOL for insurance coverage due to where it was taken? like it it went off a water fall.
I wrecked you coverage is only. Limited to seasonal (summer) and that it does not extend to (off shore ocean riding) Unless you upgrade, otherwise I felt confident my insurance would cover these waters as inland Canadian waters. Easy to confirm yourself.
Good safety comments, particularly about backup rescuer and situation awareness. In whitewater kayaking and rafting the team concept is essential. Cool mega volume river.
It was a stupid and reckless stunt. It doesn't matter how aware you are in that water. Take it from someone who is relatively familiar with this river's hydraulics. They played Russian roulette and got very lucky. And to have a passenger on with you is an empty headed and arrogant move. Very foolishness behavior by someone with a death wish, or somebody who has zero idea of how that river flows.
My uncle worked at the mile and I visited them and the falls in my teens. Which was a lifetime ago by the way
Amazing, you probably picked out my mistakes with some of the info!
Gnarly!!!Love the song at the end!!
glad you made it home, that was a risky thing to try.
Very! Most incredible experience
A Spark Trixx would be awesome for this. You could set the trim really high to keep the nose up. That way you're not nose-diving into every wave.
That’s awesome thought, I just want someone else to try it first! Haha. So much fun.
What a great video, and great cinematography. Love it! I came across your video because I am interested in an Explorer Pro 170. How have you been getting along with the ski since shooting this great video? Do you still like the Explorer? Do you wish it had a little more power (asking since the 2024 model will have the option of the 230 S/C engine)? Has the fuel range been acceptable? Happy travels, and take care. 😃
Hey hey, Incredible place to visit. Made it back again this year. The Explorer pro has been an INCREDIBLE machine for ME. My style of riding and location of riding has this machine feeling like it’s in the prime location. This journey was a 200km, I use around 85 litres. Calm conditions with some chop spots. Is this Acceptable, i thinks it totally fine. This is my third machine and first non super charged machine. I SO HAPPY I don’t have more HP, the fuel was killing me on these long exploring rides. I WOULD NOT recommend a super charged unit if your aiming at distance exploring, for instance there are trips here where gas stations are 180km apart and I would not be able to carry my gear and enough gas to make it between them with a super charged unit. I also feel like the type of ocean conditions I run into the super charger would not be effective because you can’t ride that fast through it. When you could use it to go fast, you don’t because your sight seeing and exploring. I would tell my best friend to just get the 170 explorer if you’re into the adventures of it. I’m not limited in any means and really this is the reason I can get where I get. Power, the 170 has been fine, I rode with four people on it in some chop to a wild natural hot springs location and rode in some morning chop waters and had what I need for power to keep us moving and handling it well. Any other thoughts?
@MarinaMafia I seriously appreciate the time you took to write such a thoughtful reply, bud. Believe it or not, you are the first person to actually provide me any data on what the Explorer 170 Pro is capable of, fuel range wise. Your 200 km and 85 liters of fuel consumed equates to a rough trip average of 5.5 statute miles/gallon given the particular conditions of your trip. I think that's amazing! I've been researching boats recently and found most will be lucky to get into the high two/low three miles per gallon burn rate. The Sea Doo is way better than a boat in that regard. I grant that they are totally different machines, but the fuel consumption rate is undeniable. You sold me on the 170 hp engine. Compared to the 230, I suspect the 170 has the advantages of less weight and complexity, more range, and likely more payload. If a little less top end is the drawback, then no big deal. Again, thanks, man! PS: When I eventually get my Explorer Pro 170 and shoot a video of it, I'm going to make sure I credit you for helping with my decision. 👍
Haha thank you, thank you, We’ll just to clarify that the 170 and 230 will have the same payload of 600lbs passengers with 25lb in the front storage bay. However of course I usually store about 60lbs up front and have had up to four adults on the machine for a decent 2 hour trip. The range is where it is at, and for some reason the reliability seems to be up in the air the not having a super charger saves you. The machine is definitely for me, I haven’t made any modifications and likely never will for what I do. I would like to put some serious lights in it for possible dark time riding, that’s it.
As Rosalie said your information is wrong.. Crown Zellerbach announced a closure in 1972, the BC govt bought the place in 1973 and kept it running for nearly another decade. You got pretty lucky with the weather!
It’s incredible the local words that i have been hearing vary greatly, I appreciate the details corrected for sure. It’s still an incredible story.
I was born in Ocean Falls in 1970. I think you might have been thinking of a later date, as there were still lots of people around then. Thanks for the video.
Incredible, the info some people have is amazing. Was there still a hospital then?
It's Martin Valley
Yea I was talking to someone about that after I made the mistake.
We are LOVING our Explorer Pro down here in North Carolina!! Looking forward to hearing about the adventures ya'll take up there in the Pacific Northwest!!
Fantastic machine. Everything is going great so far. Had four people on it today 50km down the fjords to a isolated hot springs, and watched a grizzly bear forage for two hours.
I did this a few years ago with a small Yamaha EX sport and I still had PTSD after a month . Never again ! But super awesome video , thanks for sharing 🙏
I’m afraid my partner has joined you with the PTSD, can’t return with him.
Beautiful scenery, congratulations on the new ride! A simple opinion, Sea Doo absolutely rocks innovation! Enjoy! 🤙
We agree! I 100% see that and enjoy being part of that family.
Very cool. Congrats Nick!
Thanks Sean, loving the new content you have and the amount of time you put into riding
💪🏼
✌🏼❤️
This video makes us miss you guys! Thanks for sharing, we love the updates. Enjoy the new ride! 🤙🏻
More to come! Thanks for the heart, imagine riding together again one day!
All is right in the world, nick is back on a seadoo! The master of all masters!
hahahah I sleep better at night now....
Nice video, shows off alot that you cannot describe
YOO, Im super happy you seen this video, really helps capture it right! Now you can show people a bit better.
do you need permits to ride? what are the rules,
Hey, great questions. As far as I can tell with multiple trips and other boaters. You can come in the low side of the falls from St. Catharines just fine all the way up to the whirlpool and inside the whirlpool but may not be allowed past that. You’ll fine a boat ramp on the lower river just before the fun stuff as well near the power plants.
Keep the videos coming! Love seeing you guys explore and create memories ❤
Next one coming up this week, we are off again starting Wednesday
Still can’t believe you guys did this! 🤙🏻
I’ll go with you guys!!! I’ll fly back for that ride.
Lots of fun this summer!
Coming back out here this summer?
Landed on the west coast in Feb, right in the costal mountains with the fjords to explore
Can’t wait to visit you two! ❤
It's also wildly illegal and dangerous to fly a drone over the falls.
Nick such a good dude. I'm happy to have met him and ava. Wish the best for him and her. Great ppl.. ( stop dming nick)
