5+ Wildlife Keepers From One Photo Shoot?!?
Be sure to watch until the end to see how I captured my favorite image ever!
While on 'vacation' I decided to make some images of birds at the beach, as I had observed all kinds of activity the previous day. When I woke up the conditions were absolutely perfect (which is surprising as I had not properly planned or even checked the tide times). The sunrise was gorgeous, and I was greeted first thing by a belted kingfisher and a great blue heron, as the sun fully rose the tide began to recede and more and more bird activity began. All in all, I was able to observe and photograph songbirds, shore birds, and raptors. The birds were on their best behavior and provided opportunities for me to capture images of them perched as well as some action shots while in flight and while fishing for a meal.
Thanks For Watching!

Sunset Photography at a Location with Special Significance
มุมมอง 12719 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา
This week I photograph a beach with personal significance, as multiple generations of my family have lived in the region as fishermen. As I waited for the lovely sunset colours, I captured a few 'abstract' images that were less dependant on light. Once the sunset started to light up the clouds I managed to capture images with lovely bright colours as well as some with more subtle pastel colours...
Amateur Pretends To Make Good Woodland Photographs

This week on my adventure with my camera I tried my hand once again at woodland photography. I love looking at peaceful images taken in the woods, and you can tell a good woodland image from a mile away. Yet I still have not been able to figure out what it is about these stand out images and be able to replicate them for myself. I think part of it is that I need more practice (and patients), to...

Way to go, mate! That's a great shot right there. Oh man, I wish I could capture images like that too. My bird photos are always either blurry or too grainy. :( Even with noise-reduction AI programs, I can't create images like yours. Man, I am sooooooooooo jealous!

Thank you Arty! Recently I've determined that it's about 45% luck, 45% patients and 10% knowing what you're doing 😂. Also I've been playing around with different autofocus settings which seems to help in some situations and having the subject really well lit, or highly contrasted with its background helps a lot as well! Hi Tim, I'm a hobbyists photographer in Newfoundland & a new subscriber, I've been enjoying your videos over the past few days, good job! That is an award worthy shot! Gorgeous image! The colours!..I'm kinda jealous😂 My Boring story😅~ I remember my first "best image yet", it's a magical feeling when you peek at the back of the camera and just know "it's a keeper". My experience was similar to yours, I was photographing Shorebirds out back of my house, I "finish up" and start walking home when a Northern Harrier circled above my property hunting for food, she turned towards me and I fired off my last 9 images. Got one in perfect focus😅, but that was it, I was so proud 😂 Looking forward to see what you capture next! PS. In 2009 a MASSIVE bull moose in NB almost killed me when I was driving to Newfoundland 😂 I swerved to avoid it by mere inches lol

Thank you Will, I truly appreciate that! I am so happy with that final image the colours are stunning even the raw file is super vibrant - it actually just won a local photography competetion as of this afternoon 😁. Nothing quite like running out of space on your SD card to increase your heart rate. I'm glad you escaped your encounter with our large NB moose they do not mess around (but being from NL I imagine I do not need to convince you of that 😂). PS. I creeped your channel just to see your name and it sounds like you have the coolest job ever.

cool to see someone else from NB. If it helps you, here is what I like to do. During a sunny day in a dense forest from 10am to 11am, the trees and the sun will created these beam of light. try to find one that lands on a small growing tree, a rock or you can stage it and place something. This beam of light will isolated that subject from the back ground the higher the sun is. Also, you want to remove any branches, tall grass or whatever look out of place. With this, you can create this really cool dark moody picture.

Good idea to set the mood of your video with a little teaser! I have done that sort of thing before, and I don't think I've come close to perfecting it, but I'll tell you what I do know. I begin including direct scenes of the thing I was photographing, because the video isn't about finding the waterfall our mountain or whatever, it's about how you as a photographer are capturing it, so I have begun putting really interesting shots of my subject when I can. Also, I have found that showing off camera gear, reminding people that I am a photographer right away keeps people interested in the video longer, so I have included shots of me taking shots. Hope this helps in your endeavours? Great video, nice to see a hidden gem and think about how I may shoot the scene. I also leave the "risky" shot to the end :)

The viewing platform I was photographing from overhangs over a ledge and is not the most stable platform. And I was taking images with 5 second exposures fully zoomed in at 200mm so even the slightest movement from me while the shutter was open was causing lots of vibration in the image, the best way I found to reduce the vibration was to get off the viewing platform before the 5 second exposures began.

Thank you for watching! Which of the two pictures of the goose flapping its wings is your favorite? The first one which is much brighter and almost 'high-key', or the second darker image?

My preference is the second goose image!

Thanks Jun, I am happy you enjoyed the video 😁. The L-Brracked on my camera that acts as a tripod mount is from SmallRig: www.smallrig.com/smallrig-l-shape-grip-for-fujifilm-x-t4-camera-lcf2813.html My tripod is the L-324F from Sirui: store.sirui.com/products/l-324f-landscape-carbon-fiber-tripod And my tripod ball head is the LH-40 from Leofoto: leofotousa.com/products/leofoto-lh-40-40mm-low-profile-ball-head-arca-compatible-w-independent-pan-lock I have only been using this tripod/ball head combination for the last two months but I am incredibly happy with both and would recomend them (and the L-bracket) particularly because they are very light and portable but very well built and I have full confidence that they will support my camera in a variety of different situations!

I like your willingness to experiment, Tim. Waterfalls are one of my favorite scenes to photograph, also.

Thank you! I really enjoy experimenting, I see no need to restrict myself.
