    Why are you using logic for that? Wouldn’t it be easier to do sample all the guitar takes in maschine directly and then resample all to one pad and chop it?

    • @BlackBeltTitus
      @BlackBeltTitus 2 วันที่ผ่านมา

      I do that occasionally. But the workflow for recording guitar in logic is just so much better. So for this video I went with the more streamlined option!

    Logic Pro has the best chance of being future proof. The future of DAWs depends on advancements in 1) cloud, 2) mobile, and 3) AI. Apple is heavily investing in all of these. Pro Tools is too greedy and going down the toilet slowly. Ableton is too dependent on electronic music. Studio One and FL Studio are OK.

  • @GUIDESPERSPECTIVE
    @GUIDESPERSPECTIVE 4 วันที่ผ่านมา

    Stand alone for the win. I think the most common scenario I see around me is people with no musical experience, training, or if they don't play an instrument, they tend to migrate to the daw and the dependence of a computer. If you are playing live less is more and not having to depend on a computer is my preference. It seems that most people wether they have musical training or not, but if they do actually play an instrument they tend to go daw less because the instruments like the MPC and the Maschine can actually be played in real time. For people who can play its more hands on and its not just clicking the notes in with a mouse. Its also much faster to play it and when its actually played it has that human touch and feel.

    Clickbait tittle. No DAW's are even close to dying or even declining. In fact, DAW are bigger than ever (go do your own research if you're skeptical). It's just that people are trying new ways to create their music and are discovering that Standalone gear has a very different workflow compared to that of a DAW.

    DAWs are way more advanced in every way and the best is the flexibility it offers. You can make templates to limit yourself which is awesome, that is how I work and I have everything loaded to make a song on the go, you can literally remake any standalone gear with a DAW and sound way better and have a huge display. I think its ok they are popular, you have to take in consideration that many people buy what they see their favorite artists use :)

    • @philxdev
      @philxdev 4 วันที่ผ่านมา

      I think that people talking about limitations just try to justify their inability to properly restrain themselves and their lack of organization... templates, favorites, and everything organized properly will yield good and fast results while still giving you plenty of flexibility if you need/want it... most people are notoriously hoarding VSTs, Sounds, and effects without rhyme and reason and are always overwhelmed when starting a new project or looking for something in a current project...

    Your AI take doesn't make a lot of sense to me. No one can tell in a song they listen to if parts were created in a DAW or on a piece of hardware, which is just a limited computer in a specific form factor. Even at a live show no one's gonna be grading the performer whether they're using a hardware instrument or a MIDI controller connected to a laptop.

    Why spend money on a DAW when there are top notch ones available for free? And it's only a matter of time before A.I features are introduced to standalone workstations "cough" stem separation already a feature. The artist makes the difference creativity-wise, not the tool.

    These arguments are for people who can't sell tracks. No one has ever said Thank god that guy used Machines and not Ableton to make that track, or the show would have sucked!" Muis is art. There are no rules.

      Amen to this. It doesn't matter for crap if you use the sound of a dying cat to make a track or an overly expensive hardware synth - as long as it sounds good. This video is dumb.

  • @philxdev
    @philxdev 6 วันที่ผ่านมา

    I don´t think any of those "standalone" daw-like sampler/music workstations you mention have anything to do with the human feeling in music. They are basically just expensive, little mini-computers with some software and knobs and buttons.... same as a PC with a DAW and a proper midi controller setup... nothing is really setting them apart as you can just turn off quantization and get the organic human component. Workflow and portability can be different to some extent... and as someone who likes gear I can understand that some gear can give you inspiration and the haptics you need to get your musical juices flowing, but that ain´t really something objective.

  • @retroklub_tv

    Great video, I've honestly never considered getting standalone gear until now, seems cool. I'm doubtful it will halt AI tho, cause the real issue is giving audio for it to be trained on.

    I highly recommend checking out Ableton Move. For an invest of just 450 € you get a standalone system (ye, with some limitations) AND one of the (in my opionions) best DAWS (Ablteon Live Intro) that you even can control from Move in controller mode. After not being too happy with Maschine and Maschine+ for some time, I switched to Ableton & Move, which clearly checks all boxes (for me).
