This Lathander-forsaken campaign was the first D&D 5e game I ever played, other than a brief brush with 2.5e when I was a little kid. 2:48 "Once you get a new group..." hit so good because by that point, I think half of the players of that group had bailed and one new player joined who quickly went through two characters. XD lmao
Hahahaha. I ran LMoP for some of my friends. For two of them, it was their first time ever playing! We had a blast, and this video is hilarious. I've sent it to all of them.
Butter ranch. Ranch wit da butter
Hilarious
I’m gonna dm it tomorrow, and i just read the comments. Now I’m scared
This book, like many others from WoTC, requires some on the fly changes by the DM to better suit modern play. But if your players are okay with some more deadly combats and you are okay with preparing some additional reasons why characters go some places in the book, I think you can run it mostly as is. Especially if you and your friends like hanging out with each other more than trying to make the most balanced and coherent dnd adventure possible.
"we jump right into the action with an AMBUSH" Me: DEJA VU! (Lost Mines of Phandelver) 😉
I ran this at tier 4, and it was epic.
Think you could do Phandelver and Below next? Would love to hear it in your take
I am working a script for that one currently.
@GreenDM looking forward to it!
Now I can DM it without needles reading. Thank you man
I am starting this for my group Saturday, very excited. Definitely adding stuff where I can. I completely revamped part 3 with the ghost lord. Keeping the character but making all of part 3 tie in directly with 2 of my players back stories. Also going to make it so after Vraath keep they can choose weather to attempt to rally the kiri tor/deal with the wyrmlord at Rhest or go handle the Ghostlord and Wyrm lord there. I like this module but it doesn't give the players much choice. This video is great. Very well done and needed... reading this campaign book is a snoozefest. I had chatGPT read the pdf I bought and make me cliffsnotes. =D
I very much enjoy your videos and this one was no exception. Stormwreck Isle was mine and my party’s first time properly running D&D. I’d say it did a good job easing us in, but I always did find it baffling that for what is meant to be a starter campaign, the guide expects the DM to just make up something for the tomb of Sharruth and not provide anything substantial. Also, my party chose Myla to care about, enough that she became a recurring NPC when we ran Phandelver: Shattered Obelisk
Finally finished the campaign, after delays and a hiatus. The supersized barbarian slam-dunked Auril's final form into the mythallar, disintegrating the both of them. Showed this video to my group afterward as a way to recap the whole thing since we started 3.5 years ago. Many laughs were had. :D Still the best guide to Icewind Dale Rime of the Frostmaiden!
Thanks to this video, i finally have a chance to know what this adventure is, because our dm literally ran from us after playing this pice of dnd for 6 irl month. As it seems, we did everything besides main plot. We were cooking pancakes for architect. Stealing watermelons for our warlock's patron, met the Raven Queen and accidentally trapped artus into the interdimensional prison, but still, not even close to finish.
This is gold.
we're about to kick Black Spider's ass, the best time to learn what am I even DMing lol
5 game of CoS (3 TPK) and each time no ;ess than 2 items in the castle... MOTHEF - do not do those cards or rathe make 5 separate decks filled with just one card or better - whatever the card player pick you read the location you do before game
Shattered Obelisk got the most votes…
I am working a script for that as well. But I was actively running this adventure, so it was easier to make a script and video.
6 sessions in, two of my characters are dead, one to a random encounter and the other to not being able to make 4 strength roles with a 8 in strength, one player got their character aged up to near death, irreversibly and 4 players left and i just quit, very fun campaign…not
Oh lord. Yay tomb of annihilation has a lot of old school traps and design in there that kill characters quick. Definitely need to have in the campaign assumptions this is a high lethality adventure (which it doesnt explain well) or have a DM that changes some of the encounters to be less surprise kill boxes.
Very based.
You have a very based take on this. I agree with you.
Goated video. Thanks!
Happy you liked it!

Cool comment
This is actually really useful.
Glad you found it useful!
Sorry to see this isn’t doing as well as some of the other videos, just here to say that I love the content and don’t feel discouraged by the algorithm
My other videos gained most of their viewership 1 year or more after posting. No idea why, but they will just spike 10k views at random times, then level back out. That helps me not feel disheartened when videos dont instantly do crazy numbers. These types of comments help as well, so thank you!
Glad you are still making videos. You are one of my favorite D&D content creators on here.
That is really nice to hear! Hopefully I get into more dnd games so I have more adventures to read and make videos about!
I instantly subbed. Dude not only spent time studying the adventure but also editing this amazing video. Proper cool!
Thank you!
Bro I just found out you left your 1 year retirement a day ago to make a video about the module I was looking to run. Crazy!
I guess you need to have more modules you are excited to play so that I came out of retirement again lol
Nice to see you back!
Thank you!
WE ARE SO BACK
I haven't done many back exercises. My back is so wee.
Got a copy right after I watched Matt Colville mentioning it, but haven't had a chance to run it yet. Thinking of letting Brindol fall into the nine hells and running an adapted version of Descent into Avernus after that, but we'll see.
That would be a great way to make this into an adventure that goes into higher levels or has more fantastical elements! You can even put more Tiamat since she is a part of the Avernus!
WE ARE BAAAAACK, also love how the characters/dice players have personality in this video
Yay! I got the idea of adding more "skits" into these videos from doing nothing but skits for the Arcane Library video. Fun way to break up the overview.
Who decided it was a good idea to have all the adventures arranged alphabetically instead of in tiers mentioned in the overview? Stupid decision. Also they should have merged a few as some of the adventures were overly simplistic but might have made a nice complication if added to another adventure.
Yeah, the alphabetical choice was odd. And combining the little adventures into more dynamic but slightly longer adventures would be really good!
The moment I saw the title I knew it was inspired by Matthew Colville :)
I was rewatching the Running the Game series and got to the Red Hand of Doom episode. Finally took his recommendation and here we are!
Great video, maybe one day Night Below in however many minutes 👀
Man I love this channel. Every 10 months or so a new video pops up and it rekindles that wee buzz I got seeing these videos for the first time, when I was brand new to D&D.
I crawl out of my cave and yell at the clouds, only to slink back inside for hibernation lol.
These are always such a treat!
Your comments are always such a treat!
Oh my, I didn't think we'd see anymore videos. This makes me very Happy :)
Started a new DnD game, so need a new adventure to draw inspiration from! And this one is so well acclaimed I had to give it a read!
He came back when the world needed him most
I looked at my shelf of 20 unplayed DnD adventures and decided to donate it to my local high school dnd club. They will have waaaay more time to play all these year long campaign books than I will. Besides I bought them all on DnD beyond to get the isolated adventure art for the videos anyway.
The whiplash of hearing 8 full minutes of sardonic criticism of the module's main villain and lack of reasons to care, followed by, "I like this module." I was not prepared for that conclusion.
Sometimes the Battle at the Gates section is just that good lol. Also the other adventure locations are cool, though getting them to flow together takes some extra work. And you get to fight Tiamat! Well Aspect of Tiamat!
Omg, you back :D
Yay :D whenever a read new adventures, there might be new videos! I need more dnd games though to get through more adventures lol
@@GreenDM good luck find time :)
OH SHIT! Are we going 3.5 with this series? Fingers crossed for a Shackled City in 12 minutes!
I have not heard of Shackled City before. What kind of adventure is that?
@@GreenDMIt’s an Adventure Path (I believe primarily written by Chris Perkins) a series of adventures released monthly in Dungeon Magazine. 3.5 had three: Shackled City, Age of Worms, and Savage Tide, and then the style was picked up by Pathfinder with Rise of the Runelords and Kingmaker being the most well known. I’ve run one or two and pilfered several for ideas, but always loved Shackled City’s suspenseful intrigue as a city atop a volcano’s caldera.
I have Dragon Magazine! I will go look for this!
If Matt Colville is Uncle Matt, you're Daddy Green DM
I fear the Daddy DM moniker. The general public may get different assumptions 😆
Double endorsed adventure!
If you want, you can triple endorse it!
