@@edquier40 Thank you 😆
Thanks for sharing, Betty! When we moved into our home, I was thrilled to learn that there are small pieces of neon orange carnelian in our pastures! Sadly, the pieces are tiny, but the intense color looks great even in tiny pieces! I'm sure I'll be dreaming about finding a big piece as long as I live here!
@@tedpreston4155 That sounds neat! Little neon carnelians! I gotta say - I was seeing these and thinking they had to be organic material, like I’m gonna reach into this icy creek and pull out a bright red leaf, but there were some red beautiful agates! Thank you for your comment and maybe you should dig a hole! 😀
@@Betty-RockBetty Last time I had kids visit, we dug a hole, and sifted all the sandy soil through a screen to find little bits of carnelian! I like to go out in the pastures alone after a rain, walking and looking for more pieces on the surface. The rain enhances the color and makes them easier to see!
Carnelian queen now she’s shining like a dream, and her colors are so warm!
Nice cuts. I really like the first one actually.

Hey Betty. I'm jealous you got out that way. That's a 4 hour run each way for me but I want to get to that region so bad. I want to hit Ochoco for Thundereggs. Things worth noting. The quick NOFX drop on the barn was great. I almost missed it. Loved NOFX. Makes me want to get on my skateboard and shred. The other thing, and it's no big deal, it's learning. The lizard is a Sagebrush Lizard, not Alligator. Sagebrush will likely be the most common lizard you'll see in the desert areas of California and Oregon. The Fence Lizard is also very common, but transitions to Sagebrush as you go farther East. Great video and always appreciate you sharing. Have a great day.

Sweet polish Betty!!!❤❤ And on such a huge face! I'll freely admit I'm struggling with polishing. My 8 inch flat lap is so slooow and patience is so poor. I'm gonna switch over to the electric drill pads and see if I can get faster results. It's been too cold to cut anything as my frontporch is my cutting area, but I'm getting a little stir crazy 😜🥴.
I have an 8 inch all you need or all in one and I hear you on the slow! I have some of the pads and a drill press. It feels like an accident waiting to happen when I use that thing, I don’t think I can be careful enough!
Did you get 80 grit wheel for it? That’s helped me a lot.
@@Betty-RockBetty Wow, a drill press. What a great idea though! That's a lot better/safer SOUNDING than clamping an electric drill, despite the fear factor. You can control the pressure and the rpms. Wouldn't matter though as I have no place to put it. 😂🤣 My wife and I agree that we need a large outdoor building/shed for her gardening addiction and my mild rockhounding hobby. Approximately 20,000 square feet should do it 😂🤣.
@@Betty-RockBetty I did, but being the DA that I often am, I ordered the disc and not the plate. Sorta nervous about what glue to use to bind it onto the backing plate I bought for it as it doesn't come with an adhesive side like I ASSUMED the disc and backing plates came with. I've been a regular Forrest Gump with this flat lap ordering. And then I lost the tightening screw and had to order another one. I'm not a very smart man said Forrest.
@@RickSmith-kp3sy I have an acrylic backing plate being delivered today and it’s not going to stick to the 80 grit I got from amazon. So I’ve been using it anyway - I stick my 80 grit plate from amazon on top of my 180 and thread the nut on as hard as I can. 🤣 It works but I’m sure it’s not ideal. I’m going to burn this thing up the way that I treat it.

@@just-one-more-rock Thanks Fred!
Let me guess. You picked Slayer because their cover legend looks eerily like the inside of your rock cut with the red lightning bolt slashes??? Aw man, I hope I'm right🤞🏼🤞🏼😃😋! Beautiful cut again girl!!!
@ That’s pretty close. I definitely had the same feeling about the inside of the rock matching the track! When I chose this rock, initially I was sure I was going to use eye of the tiger by Survivor for the short, but when I was editing the video it was this part of Seasons in the Abyss by Slayer that I had to use. It makes perfect sense in my brain, like speaking German or writing code. 👩💻 I am a huge nerd.
@@Betty-RockBetty Bist du Deutscher? And yes, I looked that up. I did take one semester of German in college, back when we wrote on clay tablets with sticks. All I remember is a few curse words and sehr wenig which is how much German I knew, Kleine which is what our dachshund was named (know what that means too!) and schlecht which is the quality of German I spoke at the end of the semester.
Nice short. Great full video. Go check it out people 👍
Thank you for being so supportive Fred!
Great video. Cool rocks and love the micro shots. I'm fairly sure #2 if porphyritic basalt, which is basalt with large visible crystals. The crystals are called phenocrysts, and they are often feldspar minerals. I did some research because I find them at Fort Stevens and I have 3 ready for the cutting table at some point. Good job 👏

Nice scenery at the beginning and end. Sorry can’t really help with the id’s on those particular rocks except to say the first is definitely not green tree moss. Might be a serpentine. Completely not sure about the others.
@@JnVrockhounding Thank you for sharing your thoughts!!
Betty, just WOW on your scenery video. I must needs go asap!❤ My favorite place to rockhound is on the Pigeon River in NC. There's absolutely nothing special there, but the scenery is spectacular and the river rocks have been shaped into some beautiful shapes. The gneiss is nice, pun intended. Your rock ID app is uh, well, uh... The 1st stone is NOT green tree agate. GTA is found in India. Unless your trip was to India?😂 As to what it is, I'm thinking, but not very sure it's green jasper with lots of chalcedony veins. Green jasper agate, graspagate. Sorry, I can't help stupid play on words. It's beautiful. I know nothing about serpentine, so trust Rogue, and apparently the app, but mostly Rogue. And you've seen enough pet wood to know what it is without asking!😅 And are you using specific gravity a lot for your mineral ID? I just hold em and think dang that seems heavy. Sorry for the unsolicited advice. Loved the video. Where's your music?
@@RickSmith-kp3sy Thank you Rick! I had no idea what or where it got tree agate from. I’ll look up green tree agate. Makes sense that it isn’t found here. I think jaspagate is a great guess!
