Thanks so much. Already bought this machine but still trying to learn more but there are not many videos about it. Aprriciate for your effort gratitudes from Türkiye
You are very welcome! Thanks for the encouragement.
This is not necessarily so, MANY espresso machines have a preinfusion option that opens the solenoid and allows for line pressure pre infusion either manually or for a predetermined length of time before the pump turns on and achieves full pressure. I've never heard of the pre infusion that interrupts the shot and opens the 3 way valve to the drip tray before continuing...what model does that?
Great to hear from you @mrKafgman35. Pre-infusion that interrupts the shot is available on every USB Rancilio, most of the La Marzocco machines, Simonelli, Slayer EP. There are quite a few. Besides Rancilio Specialty and Slayer LP, I was not aware of any other machines that offer line pressure pre-infusion. I"m curious to know the other machines you are referring to?
@@EspressoServiceNetwork I posted a YT link a few seconds ago, I guess YT doesn't allow that. A lot of E61 types have a lever position that opens the valve before the pump turns on. The video I was linking was from Clive Coffee, and ECM/Profitec has this option as well. Any time I've seen preinfusion discussed it was always in the context of a plumbed-in machine and always was simply opening the valve before the pump. I believe the KVDW machines have a separate lever position for opening the valve and actuating the pump. Cheers
Also Seattle Coffee gear has a video called 'what is pre-infusion' that shows a cutaway Rocket machine and goes in depth on this.
@@EspressoServiceNetwork Also, just visited the LaMarzoccousa site. According to the site (and I've never used an LM), what you're referring to they call 'Pre-brew', described as "The introduction of water that wets the top of the puck, using an interrupted on-off-on sequence, prior to the brewing process." and preinfusion is described by LM as "The continuous introduction of water to saturate the espresso puck at a low pressure until an increased static pump pressure is applied, beginning the brewing process." Hope this helps.
@@MrKartman35 Can you send us that video link? Our email is solutions_usa@esnservices.org. Thanks 😀
Do you know why mine won’t stop running even after I got a new activation switch and replaced it
Great question! Your relay on your board is most likely stuck.
Is it okay to remove the shower screen during backflushing ?
Doing backflush with the screen shower removed.
Great Questions. I would not if I were you. You will run the risk of flushing foreign materials into your valve.
I do not think that one type of positioning for a boiler is better than another. It really just comes down to equipment design.
The F.18 design requires you to remove the group gasket to remove the screen. Typically, the screen becomes damaged in the process. Change the screen and the group gasket every three months.
Hello mr, i have problem with lamarzocco linea 2ee, in water level control, can you help me Or help me gift a wiring diagram this machine
Sorry to hear you are having troubles. Your best course is to contact La Marzocco for help. lamarzoccousa.com/support/ They are typically very helpful.
wish to see a full disassembly of Mythos one :)
My machine pressure valve keeps going off every like 20-30 seconds when my machine is warmed up that means valve is bad or to many bars is building up, should I tried lower the pressure by that flat screw driver bolt you mentioned in the beginning of the video?
There are multiple issues that can cause this contactor is bad, pressure switch is bad or t-fitting is clogged
A used AV (in pieces) from the early 90s just came on my radar and this video was hugely helpful for knowing what I'd be getting into. Sadly it does have the old style boiler, so I'd have to consider replacing that. Although the machine would be for home use and maybe a few days a year of pop-up so I'm not sure it would even be necessary based on the super low volume.
There’s nothing worse than destroying your house with a leaking machine.
@@EspressoServiceNetwork Definitely. Once I realized it was 220v I was out anyhow.
How does water come out of the safety valve when it only open at over 2 bar?
Great question. The water pressure in most facilities is typically between 40 and 90 PSI. 2 bar is roughly 29 psi.
@EspressoServiceNetwork Ok! Thanks.

How do you get the front part/screen off to clean the chute or replace clump crusher?
Any advice on W33 error for this machine?
This video is awesome btw! Super helpful
Hi thanks! The W33 error is "Timeout coffee boiler filling (80 seconds) "and it could mean a host of things. No water to the machine would be one. I am assuming you have figured it out by now. Let me know what you found? Dave
Hi i have question about mythos I bought second hand mythos and found out grinder is not spinning when it goes finer I cleaned inside of burr carrier however i found that burr carrier isnt spinning by my hand manually when i assembled Do you know what is problem ? First I suspected it was capacitor problem however i think it isnt.. after i see burr carrier isnt spinning If you can help me to solve problem it would be awsome :)
If you cannot physically spin the burr carrier by hand, something is obstructing it or the bearing is seized.
How do you drain the drain tray?
The drain tray is self draining. Is your drain clogged?
@@EspressoServiceNetwork Yes, it was clogged but in the hose. I identified the problem to be the angle of the hose. Now if I could only figure out the dose programming lol I took a course but they didnt use a volumetric machine and I cant seem to find info about it anywhere.
Hello, do you know where I can buy that metal clump crusher. I really really need that part 😅?
You can purchase it from Simonelliusa.com but it’s only for the My Mythos and the Mythos II grinders.
@@EspressoServiceNetwork I have myg75 . Thank you I will contact them to buy clump crusher.
@@matthewpark2525 Some one said that the metal clump crusher may not work on the 75. Can you let us know when you find out?
Hello does it fit the mythos one grinder
With all the problems they mentioned I would stay well clear of that machine.
? The buttons getting worn down? A new panel is a relatively cheap fix..and its plastic, not even metal. It's a great machine.
Thank you for all that you do! I do have a question, my Simonelli Mythos Plus is getting power according to the red light on the on/off switch but the display isn't coming on. Could this be something with the control panel itself or something else?
Hello, A few thing to check. Your on-off switch could still be bad, the ribbon cable could be disconnected or the safety switch on your hopper could be disengaged. Take a look at those things and let me know what you discover, Dave
couldn.t you made another thread to save the group head?
Yes but it may not be worth it . You will have to modify other items like the screen and diffuser to make it work and typically, you cannot tap in enough threads to make it last.
what an amazing video, i have the appia 2 groups, it was working perfectly, but 2 days ago the room that it was in, got a temperature of -10 and everything inside froze (the machine was turned on) with the (stop/continuous shot) keys both flashing, while the other keys are illuminated (if i press any key, they work as they should) but the machine isnt heating and cold water comes out of the groups i opened up the machine from every side and let it dry out, when i turn it it on, it does trip the main breaker. what i tried, is to disconnect the water level probe from the boiler, by doing this, the machine no longer trips the breaker. i have few conclusions in mind 1: the probe got damaged during the freeze (the boiler had water that froze inside it probably) 2: the heatsink inside the boiler is damaged (due to freezing boiler with water?) ive checked for melting cables or something that looks off, all cables looked neat and no melting. the pump works, the groups release water when pressed, couldnt try the tea water as it didnt heat up i know its a tricky situation and an unusual problem that could have many theories, but i would appreciate any insight to solve this <3 thanks a lot
The flashing lights indicates a boiler refill error. Unfortunately, the refill error shut down your machine which allowed it to freeze. If it's tripping the breaker, it's probably because things were wet. Start by finding out why your machine was wet on the inside. Freezing an espresso machine is never good and there could be a host of things wrong: cracked pipes, burst heat exchangers and flow meters, damaged fill valves and destroyed gauges are all to be expected. Burst heat exchangers means a new boiler. I am very sorry. Dave
I started having a sticky button for my hot water, any thoughts how to fix that before i call the espresso tech just for that! Thanks
It depends on the button. If it is a pad or a high voltage button, then you need a tech. Other than that, try cleaning it with a cloth.
Hello, I am a refrigeration technician in Alabama. I’m curious what the certification is for espresso machines. When I call schaerer they say I need to be certified to even get tech support. Do you happen to know where I can get certified?
Good morning! There are no certification requirements to be a commercial espresso service technician except for the normal state and regional licensing. Each individual manufacturers requires you to be certified with their equipment in order to purchase OEM parts , receive trouble shooting assistance and offer new equipment to your customers. Some ask that you pay for the training and you will most likely need to travel to their location. Please feel free to reach out to our office if we can answer any additional questions. We are here assist you in any way we can. Ruth
Any video for a small water leak at pump?
No but is your pump leaking?
Hello. after the flowmeter, is the tube going straight to HX boiler? is it normal for the tube & flowmeter to be hot as it connected together?
NS Appia Compact 1gp - i had my flowmeter jet clogged, after cleaning it only realise the whole line is too hot. not sure if i miss anything.
Yes and yes, it can be. It is difficult to say if there is a problem without being in front of the machine. Does your machine brew fine?
I have a screw that mixes hot and cold water, which way do I turn the screw to adjust out the roaring I get when I push the hot water button? Thanks
What do you mean by roaring? Turning the screw counter clockwise will give you a cooler output.
Gushing rather than a steady flow, it's only just started doing it.
@@nicksalt4011 How old is your Appia?
1990s
@@nicksalt4011 Most likely your cold mix valve needs to be replaced. A common issue is the plunger seal becomes swollen and restricts the cold water flow, which results in spitting and spattering of hot water coming out of your faucet.
thank you for this video! Question: what is the range of temperature for the thermostat on the boiler? I'd like to brew at a temperature around 185. Is that possible on a 2008 Linea Classic?
Yes, you can set the PID or thermostat for 185.
Thanks for the response! So to confirm, that would include a 2008 Linea Classic AV 1 (before they started installing the PID controller)? I need to set it to 185 F to brew Yaupon espresso, which is best at lower temps. Thanks in advance!
Yes, you can set the thermostat to 185 on a 2008 Linea Classic AV 1. Make sure to shut your machine off and take all safety measures before making the adjustment.
I do appreciate such videos soooo much, although they dont get much views, unfortunately! This one helped me to understand some details of the particular machine's architecture and in general, not like review videos which are just repeating data sheet. Thank you! With greetings from Russia
Thank you for your comment. It is very much appreciated.
What is the difference between American and Italian made in espresso machine?
Espresso machines manufactured in Italy typically utilize fittings and components designed according to the metric system. In contrast, machines manufactured in the USA may use a combination of both the imperial (standard) system and the metric system. Many of the most well-known and respected espresso machine brands originate from Italy (e.g., La Marzocco, Simonelli, Rancilio), bringing a certain prestige and expectation of quality. However, high-end machines such as Synesso and Slayer Espresso are designed and manufactured in the U.S., demonstrating that American-made machines can also achieve high standards of excellence.
@@EspressoServiceNetwork do you find stainless boilers better than copper ?
@@mryoyo7741 Acid-resistant steel is definitely more durable than copper when it comes to the chemicals we use to descale the coffee machine from time to time.
@@mryoyo7741 Stainless is more durable and has a longer life. It is better but the cost is greater.
Our machine (same as in video) is overheating at times. We do not have a PID controller on it and I have no idea of where the thermostat is located. If we put a PID controller on it, do we have to use the La Marzocco item or can we buy another brand. I see quite a few on Amazon. The OEM controller is about $650. Any brand recommendations?
The OEM part includes the wiring, solid state relay and temperature probe. With the OEM part the algorithm is also pre-programmed. I would not consider another brand. Your thermostat is located in the center of the brew boiler. If it is a 3 group it is off center.

Hi ESN! Thanks for the very detailed video :) I wondered if you have any advice for a Mythos One that's 2 years old, it has a fresh set of burrs on but has the following issue; We turn the grinder on in the morning 45 minutes before dialing in and load the beans into the hopper with the hopper slot open. For the first 18 months, the morning calibration routine would be something like this : - We grind the first dose and throw it away. - We grind a 2nd dose, and run a shot, let's say it takes 23s to hit our desired yield. - We adjust the grind setting a notch or two finer, dump 2 doses and pull a shot and we hit our desired extraction time of 28s. Since a couple of months now, we're finding that if we follow the same routine, that within 2 or 3 doses time - our extraction time will jump to 35-39s... So we adjust the grind a bit coarser and fall back down to our desired extraction time and then for the rest of the day it stays pretty stable - we rarely have pauses of more than 5 minutes in between doses. The burr carrier feels lukewarm to the touch before we grind our first dose, but 5-6 doses later it's rather warm. A local technician replaced the heating element, which had no effect. He then advised that we cleaned around the bearing and axle with compressed air...
Apologies for not responding to your question. Did you find a resolution to your problem, yet?
@@EspressoServiceNetwork Not yet !

Great Video, Wanted to Share: We insulated our commercial use Linea 2 Broiler tanks for FREE using 1" thick polyester batting which is very friendly for lungs and non itching and sheds very little and has a max working temp of 150c, which is above the broiler's oem malfunction high temp limit switches of 130-135c. Unfortunately our $10k machine circa 1999 came with no insulation. Unlike the newer versions. It's improved the staff and AC bills and will help the machine last longer without the elements cycling on as much and the heat drying the wiring and more. We used "Renewliner" polyester batting which is sandwiched with polyester film, obtained for free from mailed meal kits. Polyester batting is often made from recycled bottles. It can be found for free on discarded sofa foam cushions, and other places and sold in stores. Polyester loose fill is in most of our pillows. Did a write up on a forum on it. It tucked and stayed in place with no need for zip ties or twist ties. Poked holes and cut lines for protruding sensors and to tuck under water lines. Added extra sheets to brew heads and steam wand fittings and on over the tanks-heat rises. It pulls right off if needed for service/inspection/repairs. It is also a very good insulation for hot tubs internals, car/rv roofs between the ceiling and headliner and side walls. Take care.

My spout sits 180 degrees out. Is there any way to fix this? It doesn't matter how much I play with clocking it just right it always ends up 180 degrees out. I'm guessing I need to get some thread locker sealant like loxeal 5503? (stock ecm synchronika e61)
I am not familiar with your port-a-filter. With some brass port-a-filters extreme pressure needs to be used and yes, thread locker can be helpful.
Simply taking the knob off and applying food grade silicone grease to the threads and silicone spraying the outside movement joints should extend the life before a rebuild is needed.
These things are helpful but they neglect internal components. When a steam valve is due for maintenance, you should not try to extend its life for safety concerns,
Hi, I bought a used Aurelia wave. I've turned on the machine twice and the first time, it said Simonelli 0.15. The second time, it said Simonelli 0.15 Clock Off. It doesn't progress beyond this. What should I do to make it work? I tried looking it up online and read the manual but I didn't find any information on it. If you know anything, please help me out. Thanks for your help.
With the main switch on, next turn it on from the front. Let me know if that does not work?
Great Help, Thank you. But some of your advice for old machines: 1. It does seem your advice to replace the Older Steam Broiler pressure(temp) controller when it goes out, with the $600+ PID controller kit is poor advice. Simply because it appears the company which makes the old style Sirai Pressurestat switch (P302?), still makes them for $100 new. Plus the pressurestat contains the electric contacts which turn on and off the heating element. So when you replace it, you are getting all new, unlike the PID which uses 2 expensive components which both wear out, to do the same thing. Plus even though the Brewing thermostat # L260 might no longer be available, its micro switch # 11981.10 (Cutler-Hammer# E47CMS01 20amp!) which is what wears out, is for cheap. 2. Replacing the entire older 2 part brewer tank w/bolt on brewer heads for a newer tank with welded on heads... that's $$$$.$$ of dollars... I would think if a weak threads break/over tightened, new threads can easily enough be welded onto the old tank. I see a new gasket can be had for $7 plus shipping from a few sites. Take care.
As a professional technician equipment owners are typically seeking improved performance. In the case of with upgrading to a PID, improved performance and less maintenance. Welding is not that simple or easy. Again, most equipment owners are seeking resolutions that are quick and efficient. IOf course, you can try all the things suggested but the potential for a poor outcome is not a gamble most business owners want to take.
@@EspressoServiceNetwork thank you for the reply. I'm not sure the PID is necessarily more reliable. Both systems rely on contacts which suffer high voltage arcing damage over time, each time the heating elements turn on and off, breaking the electrical flow. Yet the contacts in the mechanical are much cheaper to replace the unit. As far as the temp swings of the mechanical, when they were the latest, they were touted to be more reliable than the 10 deg you say you have witnessed and our customers and staff are happy with the accuracy of the mechanical. Some of us restaurants have tight budgets and have to do some repairs ourselves. Not to fear, there are more than plenty of work needed from the professionals, especially honest and caring ones like yourself. Take care
Thank you for the kind words! The PID system uses a solid state relay. They can break but there are no contacts or wear n tear parts. If cost is an issue and temp fluctuation is not a concern then stick with the switch. Be careful not to lose the spring (its easy to do) or the c-clips and know that overtime the thermostat gets more and more out of range.
WoW better insulate those 2 broiler tanks with some fiberglass insulation wrap like they do with their newer made exact ones! Otherwise it's costing electricity and making staff hot and wearing out the heating elements and related. Also since many find reduced maintenance by keeping the machines turned on 24/7 in a high use establishment. Great video, thanks for caring and sharing! I'm making labels for all the components to help anyone looking inside! Take care
