Do you have to put the battery bag over the serial number?
No, if your guitar has the S/N on the neck block, the battery can be mounted to the guitar back, near the neck block. That works great too!
Does the battery drain if it’s not plugged in. I keep the battery in and don’t remove it after use. Sometimes I don’t use the Fishman electronics. If I don’t use it did the battery still drain or does it only drain when you are using the electronics?
If you unplug the instrument cable from the guitar, then the battery will turn off. You will maximize the battery life by unplugging your guitar when it's not being used.
@ thanks for the feedback 👍
Does the HiFi Duet work with a Classical Nylon Strings Guitar?
Sadly, no. The HiFi pickups are unstable and prone to feeding back in nylon string guitars. I recommend the Anthem SL Classical for most classical guitars. -Caleb
I had one installed on my Martin OM35 and it is working great. I am looking forward to playing it out live. Special thanks to Aaron Short for his great reviews!
Sweetwater installed mine and I just got it back. It sounds like it was installed wrong or the mic is faulty. The hifi is very bright by itself and the mic sounds super boxy, I have a Epiphone Chris Stapleton. Should I take it back in? Thanks!
It definitely sounds like something might be wrong. The HiFi pickups can be bright in some guitars, but the mic should sound pretty smooth. I'd take it back to have it double checked. -Caleb
@ that’s what I thought too. I will. Is there a place I can send you a clip of it?
@@kodybryantmusic7357 tech@lrbaggs.com will come straight to me.
Look for some wisdom, want to purchase the Aligne EQ but the Voiceprint Di App comes with EQ, so wondering if i actually bebefit in having the Aligne EQ when i already knownill get the Voiceprint anyways?
There shouldn't be any need to use the VPDI and the Align EQ together. The VPDI has all of the features of the Align EQ and many more.
If you have any other questions, please feel free to email me directly at tech@lrbaggs.com. -Caleb
@@LRBaggsResources hey Caleb I appreciate the reply! I guess Im gonna make myself a late Christmas 🎁
Dont know if this question will be answered but ill give it a go anyways: Can i replace the aligne EQ with a Voiceprint DI if i can control EQ from the app? Cheers
The Voiceprint DI has all of the same functions as the Align EQ and MUCH more! The VPDI is bit more expensive, but well worth it for the additional features.
It works on nylon Guitars?
No, the HiFi pickups don't work well for nylon guitars at all. The Anthem SL Classical is still our best pickup for Classical/Nylon guitars.
How does it perform when playing with a live rock band with loud drums and guitars?
There are a few artists using this on big tours already, and they've all had excellent things to say about it. The ability to fall back on the HiFi pickups to minimize handling noise and feedback is a key component.
So have to take the strings off to change the batteries, correct?
@@LRBaggsResources Can this be installed in a Taylor which has the battery integrated with the endpin?
I misspoke in my last comment. You do need to loosen the string to access the battery in the HiFi Duet. If you install the Duet in a guitar with an existing battery box, the existing battery box can be re-used pretty easily.
@@LRBaggsResources Do you instructions for doing it with Taylor battery box? I can't see how the Baggs endpin can be incorporated with the Taylor box.
@@tommc49 No formal instructions, but you can email support@lrbaggs.com and we can walk you through the process.
Great design, but the sides really need a veneer overlay. Plywood just looks cheap imo, and the guitar isn't cheap. I can't be the only one for which this is a turnoff.
Hello, i have the m80 in my acoustic. I was wondering, it is possible to plug the m80 instead of the piezo input on the anthem mixer?
The Anthem was designed specifically for the frequency response, output level and impedance of the Element Piezo. Plugging in an M80 will produce sound, but it's probably going to take a LOT of EQ to get a decent sound.
The bigger issue is that the Anthem preamp and the M80 don't usually fit into the same soundhole at the same time.
is the guitar jack output symmetrical 3-point jack to connect an amp to a symmetrical XLR socket THANK YOU FOR YOUR DEMO IT IS EXCELLENT
The HiFi Duet sends a mono, unbalanced signal from the guitar. You would need a DI to convert the signal to a balanced one.
If you have a high brace, what kind of shim would you recommend? My brace in that area is probably about 10mm high - similar to the gap between to strings.
In some cases you can just double or triple up the adhesives. In other cases you might need to make an actual shim. If you want to email support@lrbaggs.com, we might be able to help you out with something.
You didn’t talk about where to connect the silo mic to the controls. I assume the written instructions will address that. Otherwise, good video!
That's written in the instructions, as well as on the preamp itself. The two inputs on the preamp are labeled as 'mic' and 'hifi'.
How do we test it with an amp before putting strings on? Just tapping on it?
Tapping will show if the pickups are working or not, but you would need to string the guitar up and play it in order to fully check the string balance.
I have a Martin OM-28. For some reason, the mic gives me more low-end than the guitar naturally has, similar to the proximity effect. Is there a way to fix this by adjusting the mic, or is a lowcut preamp the only solution? I did not install this pickup myself
The Anthem mic doesn't carry any low end, so the extra bass would be coming from the undersaddle pickup. If you want to email us at support@lrbaggs.com, we can go over how that might need to be addressed with the installation.
it is fugly
Hi. I have a new Martin OM28 Modern Deluxe. It has a composite carbon fibre bridgeplate. This is apparently to boost volume. It is loud for its size. Do you see any issues with the Hifi Duet and this guitar? Just have to make sure before I order. Thanks
I've talked with a few people who have installed the HiFi and Duet on carbon fiber bridge plates with good results. You shouldn't have any issues. -Caleb
I have the Anthem installed on an old Gibson and it sounds great, except the gain of the A string is not as loud as the other strings with the same force of pick/plucking. Any ideas how to tweak this? Does it sound more like a guitar problem vs pickup placement/issue?
It sounds like there's probably something off with the installation. If you want to email support@lrbaggs.com, we can give you some ideas of how to proceed.
Make sure your saddle bottom is perfectly flat!
Does this come with the pre amp end pin jack?
Yes, it comes with everything you need for a full installation.
Soo…what does it sound like?

This makes me so unreasonably happy! 😭 You should do a nylon string version!
It was super tight in my Martin 000-42 Modern Deluxe but I got it in. Install was a bit of a pain. Sounds great so far
Glad to hear it!
Incredible work Sir! Concert Body shape and Nylon Crossover please. And If I might add, Cedar over Mahogany. Thank you in advance.
Watched this to bide my time until the AEG-1 finally hits the market in Germany. Totally enthused about this, as well as the Duet system, also for installation in other guitars. Heard some very useful demos done by Aaron Short on this YT channel, so if anybody wants to hear the AEG-1 (or the Duet in another guitar), check out his livestream on the topic.
Excellent video Caleb!
Thanks, Bo! -Caleb
Make that pickup system and controls plug and play for a Taylor, a battery tray to replace the Taylor and controls that mount where Taylor’s es2 controls are! 🤯
My solution for my Taylor’s awful live sound was to sell it, buy a Martin with a Baggs Anthem and I’ve never looked back. 😝
So...when is the nylon classical version of this coming?????????
We'll have to wait and see. We've had a lot of questions about what other versions and configurations will be coming next. We're still working on it, so stay tuned!
@@LRBaggsResources Yes please do a nylon version soon!
Bass
What frets/fret wire is used?
They use a standard nickel/silver fret wire.
Fascinating design.
What is the MTP position?
Not sure what you're asking...
very weird that you didn't even play it.
It was a first look, not sound 😂
They have four AEG-1 videos-with playing-on their main channel. This is the resources channel and primarily features user guides and product info.
As another commenter pointed out, Baggs do have some playing videos online. That said, I found them too focused on fast riffs and fancy playing to be able to properly assess how the guitar actually sounds plugged in. If you‘re interested in hearing someone strum and gently play the guitar - also as compared with a normal piezo system in another guitar, and as compared with the Duet pickup in a normal guitar - then I recommend scooting over to Aaron Short‘s YT channel and checking out his livestream on the topic. He demoes everything in a very valuable way. I‘m totally enthused about the AEG-1, as well as about the new Duet! Never heard a more natural plugged-in acoustic sound.
Can't wait to get my hands on one here in the Netherlands!
I love back stories… fascinating!

Seriously? Adjust the braces ( the integrity of the guitar) to fit a pickup ? Huh? Not happening here. Make your pups to fit the guitar. It’s not hard
I don't think anyone's first choice is to modify the bracing, and that's not something I typically recommend. -Caleb
a shim is an added piece of wood for spacing...he didn't say he would cut into the soundboard brace
Would it be possible to install this in a GS Mini?
The bracing around the bridgeplate on the GS Mini is pretty tight. When I tried installing the HiFi's in GS, the pickups had to be pushed toward the middle which made the outer E strings quiet. So it's possible, but you might not get 100% from the pickup.
Looks like it will be very expensive....
$449 USD
Can I install this in a V class Taylor Grand Auditorium?
The preamp has a little bit of trouble with the taller bracing around the soundhole of the V class, but we've had good results from shifting the placement in the soundhole and using some shims on the preamp.
@@LRBaggsResources Can I use my ES2 pickup instead of the HIFI with the Duet preamp? What if I stick a variable resistor in there in series to get the slightly hotter taylor ES2 output to the same level as the HIFI?
@@Acoustic_Music-h6x It's hard to say. The preamp was designed very specifically for the HiFi pickups, so swapping them could cause any number of potential issues. I imagine that it could technically work but it wouldn't sound as good.
Need someone to do a comparison between the new Duet and the Anthem

Anthem SL user here. I’m getting plenty of mids and highs but no matter how I set the screw, the bass notes aren’t being picked up well at all. Troubleshooting tips?

Hi again, I also noted that the full volume output is low as 1db compared to other similar pickups (Yamaha) which is about 5Dbs
thats the specialty of yamaha, their pick up is excellent. how i wish taylor can adplopt those pick up of yamaha. in yamaha guitar, just buy and put battery and plugg in and thats all while in Taylor, sometimes you still need to adjust or figure out regarding the es2 system, its frustrating specially if no idea how to adjust. yamaha pick up system is the best. but stage pro or anthem is good also
Hi thank you for your video, I would like you to help me solve a volume issiue I have bought a Furch Orange OMc-SR SPA W/LRB with a Pickup: L.R. Baggs SPA Stagepro Anthem. Is it normal that the battery does not serve more that 2 months using it only once a week 1hour each?
I think it would be best if you emailed me directly at tech@lrbaggs.com. I'd be happy to help you out however I can. -Caleb
@@LRBaggsResources привет! порекомендуйте уровень громкости микрофона! я и не знал...что этот регулятор расположен в батарейном отсеке! спасибо!
I just picked up an Anthem SL, put it in my 000-28, it is super hot, be warned, the new ones are too hot, almost adds an unwanted saturation to the tone
The Anthem SL design/output hasn't changed at all. If it's reacting to that guitar with more output than you expected, it's likely due to factors in the guitar itself.
@@LRBaggsResources what factor in the guitar would create more output? It’s a 000 body size, so it’s not a loud guitar to begin with
@@dividedbytimestudios The main thing that can be changed is the saddle material. The saddle material can directly influence the undersaddle pickup's output, but it's not very predictable. If you have an organic saddle like bone, trying something manmade like Tusq or Micarta could make a noticeable difference in the output.
@@dividedbytimestudios If you want to email me at tech@lrbaggs.com, I can go into more detail about this.
