Hi! My homecountry Sweden had a show called "äkta människor" (real humans) in the 2010s which is a show about humans having robots living amongst them, working for them and doing chores etc. As a aspiring/baby lolita I cannot tell you how cool it was and how surprised I was to watch the show and suddenly see lolita robot in the distance. 😂

Like diamondthestorm, I wear lolita to church every week. Even if you don't attend church, Sunday is a great day to make a point to dress nice since you're no longer working thereon. Also as to the mud and rain: Bodyline for washability!

Ooh I love the idea of handmade Lolita! Some day I really want to try make crochet strawberries but I'm way to impatient with crafts! I think the idea of embroidering an apron sounds really cool! Can't wait to hopefully see updates with what you create!

I try to wear my lolita clothing in varying degrees of 'lolita-ness' depending on my mood: most casual, throw a frilly cutsew or blouse on top of normie jeans or skirt with some fun jewelry/accessories. Regular casual lolita - wearing a cutsew and skirt, or simpler JSK and blouse. Depending on my mood and the weather, I may wear them without a petti and waist ties so it's more comfy sitting around the house (or just put on the petti and waist ties if I'm going out and I want to be appropriately floofy). And then full lolita for events or because I want a dress up day - the whole coord, complete with underthings, petti, jewelry, fancier headwear, and so on. I've learned that if I save my fancy clothes for 'special occasions' they just never get worn. So to echo another commenter, you spent your money on those clothes and you should wear them whenever you feel like. And you don't necessarily always have to adhere to lolita 'rules' when you do. :)

I usually wear Lolita to church and whenever I go out to eat or to the mall. Not a lot of places, but since I don't leave the house often, I try to be in coord whenever I can.

The red music dress is called “Rabbit Duet,” by Bodyline. It is such an underrated dress. It is one of my favorites, and I own it in green. It did not fit me right out the gate: I had to alter it in order for it to fit. It was well worth the effort.

The answer is: stop giving a shit what other people say, and wear it everywhere!! Going to get an oil change? Wear Lolita! Going to a doctor’s appointment? Dress up! Going to breakfast with friends over the weekend? Wear your favorite JSK. Either wear it as Lolita, or wear it without a petticoat! The more you do it, the easier it gets. You spent YOUR hard earned money on these clothes, and they are MEANT to be worn.

I didn’t wear a lot of Lolita the past year because I had depression issues dealing with life events. I’m not working right now but since my mental health is better I’ve been wearing Lolita more. Even if it’s for a few hours to just go out for errands or a quick walk, it helps sooth my soul. I also have a lot of easy to coord solids and skirts which make it easy to make comfortable casual coords.

yea I feel you I am not lolita nor harajuku, but 40-50's railroad as a course of volenteering as do cosplay, but I havent been to con since 2019 since covid would like to again but we haven't had the con that used to be here, and I havent really seen the reason to go to chicago for a con as the guests I am not interested in so far, the price like everything else is though the roof, and they were still making people wear masks till last year, I cant see being in the summer heat and suffacating as is and then have to cover my face when I already cant breath, also there is the larger politization of certain things, that used to be more live and let live that and I have gotten back into watching dirt track racing, and going into the pits to watch and talk with the drivers, several let me hang out with them a little and talk, and well its indiana home of the indy 500 racing is in our states ethos and doing historical railroading the way we dress is not far off from how the guys and girls dress for church where I go, very traditional people dress up, the ladies will ware solid print dresses or floral prints often times or somewhat like a less revealing cottage core or mori kei, the guys were suites or button down shirts many also wear hats before and after, and will often cook out and have a cigar or pipe and maybe a beer or cocktail while the kids play basketball or frisbee that is afterward and fellowship, they call it the atm group alcohol tobbaco and meat. and many do some sort of crafts as well soaps, oranaments, baked goods which they sell after the service on the regularly schedualed fellowship twice a month the atm group meets after the later service on the off weekends. but as for me I would love to go to con or do steampunk of sorts but the operatunities are fewer.

I can relate lol, I work and study and thus have not much time for meetups. Doesn't help that I have pets and can't just leave them alone for hours. What I found helpful is wearing Lolita in my flat; while filming or working. I also wear Lolita each time I go out alone to sit in a cafe and work. I think one needs to make up space for the things we love, and since I don't want to rely on anyone else's plans, I make my own plans with myself. Embrace the Lonelita lifestyle if you want to wear Lolita independantly from your comm. :D
