I swear I’m not a demon but I actually like frozen yogurt more than ice cream. I know I said I didn’t curse in this video, but I did say “pissed” but come on that shouldn’t even count. Thank you so much to Angelo for being in this video. Go watch his channel youtube.com/@anjelloproductions?si=8JgGPplKvy40AFVz

This show combined my two favourite things in life: ethics / morality and religious or 'afterlife' studies (as well as scientific evidence of the afterlife). I came for the content, I stayed for the amazing story-telling (and optimistic music and set design), and with the fantastic series finale I got the biggest gifts a tv show ever gave me: a permanent emotional re-wiring, and a sense of renewed purpose amidst a sea of universal, existential meaninglessness. I sometimes grieved the loss of past favourite tv shows, but none have left me feeling so affirmed, so optimistic about life, as this show has. I wouldn't be surprised if this show turned out to be responsible for saving the lives of many would-be suicidal ppl during the pandemic lock downs, and imo, That is a Truly Great thing. Maybe this little sitcom helped us all become the best version of ourselves, and that after all is why we're here. Either way, I'm eternally grateful..
This show genuinely changed my perspective on life. It brought me a great sense of peace about life and death, and I feel that I am a wiser and better version of myself for having seen it. See you all in the dot of the I.
Good content, but you REALLY need to do something about your audio quality.
Agreeeeeeeed!
It's truly a gift to humanity ❤🇨🇦
I get anxiety every holiday and to soothe myself yesterday I reassured myself by telling me that no matter what happened, eventually everyone who knows me will die and everyone who was ever remembered or was influenced by me will die. Helped lol
You clearly miss ALOT of the nuance of the show. Jason is not "stupid" by any means. Michael is absolutely and categorically not an angel. Michael never calls anyone to take Eleanor to the bad place, because she finds out they ARE in the bad place already.
It’s not explained in the show but I always assumed kids or innocents who die get reincarnated that’s how I get past that plot hole in my mind 😆. I’m surprised the show never addresses that in some way because it is the most thoughtful comedy ever made.
It's absolutely explained. There has not been a person coming to the good place for more than 500 years.
@ I’m aware it’s explained but do we really want to think the bad place is torturing babies?
@@Nursejustinreviews Don't care what you want to think, you started saying "It is not explained". There is no plot hole.
@@eidodk it is a plot hole because how could Glenn ever believe the bad place is justified if it’s torturing babies. the point when he turns and says I never minded torturing people but if they can get better than it is no longer justified. How could he ever feel just if kids and babies are being tortured.
@@Nursejustinreviews Glenn's real name was "Snakes Pour Forth From His A*us", he was a bad place torturer by profession - something you could only be employed as, if you were a demon by birth, if You really think bad place torturers have morals, then YOU are the plot hole.
1:03:09 i saw this part while peeing
💀
i have an obsession with the good place
I'm curious: if Mindy St. Claire was good enough to warrant a Medium Place, instead of immediately being sent to the Bad Place, does that imply she would have inadvertently been good enough to completely offset all the unintended consequences of living on earth?
I really love this silky little show so much, thank u for such an in-depth recap and honestly for the appreciation that the show deserves. I also have seen myself changing my ways of acting after having watched this show a couple of years ago, not in a "there's a point system that will be better if I pick up street trash" but more in a "we are all in here together, the leats we can do is care for each other" I feel like this show radicalized me in ways I didn't even realized at the moment. And I always find myself looking back on it when things are bad, using it to remember that we are all human and we are all trying our best, in the context that we exist in. I'm so so sorry for the rumble 🥲😹
Confused about how this video is an analysis when it’s just a play by play of the whole show with a few opinions scattered around. You barely dive into character arcs, textual techniques used by the writers, and your commentary on some things are so juvenile
the twist genuinely blew my mind when i first watched it
Your ending I was also expecting take it sleazy lol
Damn underrated channel

Wingwam Man can get WHAM'd
If you love The Good Place, you'll love Severance. Definitely something to check out. Both are stellar.
A Man With A Plan is another Schor masterpiece
I recently rewatched this show and was reminded of how amazing it is. Truly one of, if not my favorite show. Micheal is my favorite character. The absolute delight he takes in the small pleasures of life is so lovely to watch and reminds me to romanticize my own life. I really love how Micheal is so fascinated by simple human experiences. It helps me feel so much more excited by my own life. Just one of the reasons why I love that show so much and I really think everyone should give it a watch
I remember the first time I watched this show. I had an hunch and realized just a few moments before Eleanor which made it even more relatable. I have watched it 4 times with different people and there's ALWAYS a new life lesson to be learned. It amazes me how a show led in such a naive way, with walking stereotypes as character, actually convey such deepness By the way, Jason actually say a few very intelligent and amazing things in the course of the show , they make them even more memorable given the nature of this character
I agree silico backstory should have been connected to bliss
thinking abt how much of an impact this show has had on you reminded me of how i feel the exact same way. Chidi saying that we owe it to each other to be better is constantly on my mind
I know it since watching the first episode!
I don't really understand these arguments at all. You think Scratch would have a arc about liking Molly more but he just drops that after the 3rd episode Not exactly. They came to a mutual agreement and each episode he grows closer to her.First day frights he spent just trying to sabotage her first day, howling harriet he avoids geoff+molly and in the softball episode he's partly helping her cheat at games for his own benefit. *so he claims* Makes the theme not make sense - Ghost accidentally has a curse backfire. This is meant to establish there growing friendship so I'm not sure what exactly your trying to say. It would have been better if Scratch was more of a consistent jerk but got better throughout then season 1 he's fully becomes Mollys friend. If he was the former we would have struggled to see his softer more caring side and that gradually grows because they sprinkle little hints of it. Also that does happen. Especially in Molly Vs The Ghost World. If Scratch was constantly mean him defending Molly only once would have been out of left field and we wouldn't have gotten other moments like hugging during the eviction or him saving her life twice. You literally play they key moment during the season one finale so. Season 2: Ollie hates ghosts but changes his mind and is immediately over everything. No. If anything her joins the team purely out of guilt and he does still suffer shame over his actions. The Show tried to change to story driven. No it's still mainly episodic. This has nothing to do with Amphibia and Owl House whatsoever. The tgamm didn't get self conscious and that's pretty assumptious of you to claim. Half baked super rushed or super unsatisfying/leaves a bunch of questions that will never be answered -I'll give that to the chens and the cut production but you never elaborate on what questions specifically for the later. The Show covered nearly every arc aside from maybe Andrea. They Killed off the chairman to soon -I can kinda see where your coming from but he was never meant to be a key threat. If anything it was The Council themselves based on how they treated Scratch and how dominant they are involved with his job of scaring humans. Why does a episodic show have story stuff? Because a series can be both. What's the complaint here? Ducktales which you mentioned and Big City Greens does it. Hell so does Fish Hooks and Wander Over Yonder! Molly's fault for freeing bad ghosts being unused/Chairman being unused - the former wasn't her fault. And like I said before the chairman doesn't really matter in the grand scheme of things. The show was cancelled so of course it's rushed So your aware but blame it for a problem that isn't it's fault? Your geoff questions do have merit though. Ship tease about couple getting together but only happens at the end Aka Mollie. Bro I think you missed multiple episodes 😒.
0:39 He still gets annoyed by her over-the-top positivity in later epsidoes even after season 1. It's not like they get along all the time. All Systems No is an episode. The writers said in an interview that they thought it would have gotten old to show Scratch at his worst 100% of the time. 2:18 The passage of time in stories isn't always literal. The next episode isn't literally the next day. There could be an unspecified amount of time between the epsidoes. In that same episode, Ollie was crying because he wanted to kill ghost and he was still getting over the fact that what he was taught his whole life was wrong. 2:28 No it was going to have an ongoing plot since episode 1. 2:45 The chairman was supposed to be more like an old spirit or a force of nature. His being mysterious is the point. He is supposed to be more like a parasite making everyone's lives worse than a character. 3:20 Sounds more like you were growing impatient rather than the story being badly written. 4:33 No mention of June changing her mind about ghost quickly? The Chens parents changing their minds about ghosts was pretty fast but to be fair Jinx was attaching them and they had no choice but to team up with the nice ghosts. It was a the enemy of my enemy is my friend situation. 5:40 Jeoff is dumb. Also the Ghosts had no choice but to scare or they would be sucked up in the flow of failed phantoms. 6:00 I disagree about Molly and Ollie. While it would have been nice to see more of Molly and Ollie as an actual couple the show is more about friendship than romance. 6:06 I disagree that it is terrible at its story stuff. I think its very well written. When you think about it a lot happened in both seasons. In season 1 the McGees made the town fall in love with them in 20 episodes and the town paid for the house. Molly Broke the curse. Molly befriended Libby and helped her come out of her shell. Libby found out about Scratch. They discovered that souls could be separated from people. They did a great job of foreshadowing Scratch in retrospect. Molly learned more about Andrea and they understood each other better. In 2 Scratch became the Chairman and ghosts didn't scare anymore, they fought Jinx, They found out Scratch's true identity, Molly taught Ollie that ghosts weren't so bad, Molly and Ollie become a couple, The Davenport store closed, etc.
Disagree but its your opinion
No.
I always cry when Chidi leaves.
Kristen Bell is a national treasure and she must be cherished and protected at all costs.
I think the biggest part of the demon who likes torturing because they belive they are genuinely punishing those that are bad is the point. Those that end up in hell, from the shows perspective, means that they are bad. The demons aren't questioning it because their job is to do that. Youd assume if someone got there, they are bad. Its never questioned about why they are bad, because that doesnt matter to them.
44:08 Obviously dogs either go to the good boy place or to the ruff place
honestly if micheal had realised that resetting the timeline over and over again would still be a form of hell, he wouldve gotten what he wanted. just by having the humans have just enough memory to experience dejavu and anxiety but not enough to know whats truly happening till Eleanor figures it out, that would still be horrific to experience
Oh man this show Is indeed a masterpiece, My number 1 show ever, I am absolutely certain I'll be rewatching the show with my loved ones later on in my life
After the first season, I was so scared because I thought for sure they would just follow the formula again and it would get stale. I cannot describe the sheer happiness I experienced when I was wrong.
I'm sorry THERE ARE EXTENDED EPISODES?!?!?! HOW DID I NOT KNOW THIS?!?!!!
38:43 I find it interesting how this implies any religious person that only does good because their religion says its the way to "the good place" cant male points tpwarss thw good place
The Good Place is probably the TV show closest to what a sitcom written by Douglas Adams would look like, and that is probably the best endorsement I have ever given a TV show.
I got to show my bf this show for the first time and it was sooo satisfying just watching his reactions! Thank you for this video I cried all over again🥹
I agree with this
SERIOUSLY. This show is so underrated. Whenever I see video essays none of them actually capture the deep complex aspect of the show
This show changed my life, for the better and it made me fully understand humans, emotions, and the dilemmas of life and made my life better. I will check back when I finish the video.
Craving frozen yogurt and loving your appreciation of the series. Top knotch❤
I WAS IN THE MIDDLE OF REWATCHING IT WHEN I WATCHED THIS BC I WANTED TO SEE WHAT PPL THOUGHT ON YT AND YOU GOT IT SPOT ON IN THE FIRST 5 SECONDS
maybe im just predictable idk
Yeah to be honest the ghost and molly mcgee sucks now I like it at first but when it continues it starts getting bad including ollie and bad writing, wasted potential now looking back to it really makes no sense the story it just really bad, and molly was one of the worst female characters ever , Hilda was better than molly mcGee
To further the point made at 17:00, when Eleanor is looking through John's file and you can't read any of it - it's actually a cipher that lists a bunch of his actions, for example: - Stole hotel room pen - Looked in hotel room bible for money - No tip left on pillow at checkout - Watched music video on coworker's cell phone after he said he was over his data limit for month
I'm SO jealous of anyone who still gets to watch this for the first time.
Subscribing bcz i finally found someone who loves this show as much as I do. like you said i just keep finding myself rewatching the good place. I rewatched it again after like 1,5 years i think and i LOVE THIS SHOWWWWW 😭😭
51:26 Not even Michael, an architect, knew about how no humans went to the good place in 500 years. I guess very few demons knew that. And also I guess Glenn was never assigned to a baby torture department...
