Wednesday Night on the Corpus Christi Bay
Sailboat racing on Wednesday night on the Corpus Christi Bay with great friends. Races are held every Wednesday year round. With the Covid going on there was no race committee last Wednesday. Videoed with a Hero Black 8 GoPro. I still have a bit to learn on the features, but this camera is awesome.

@@mychannel-rv9gy the temps at night are still pretty warm but I installed a solar panel and was able to keep my battery charged enough to keep a fan going all night. I had a screen for the companion way to keep out the mosquitoes so the airflow was good. Also I slept on a thick mattress topper. All that and the rocking of the boat made for comfortable sleeping.

@@jbratt well I got the boat up and turns out my bump with a sandbar I couldn’t see got some rocks and pebbles stuck up in there. I butchered a Christmas lawn ornament to get a long thin rod to get up in there and got the rocks out and the board finally dropped while I got it up on a boat lift. But since I’m the boats second owner it’s the first time I’ve seen the centerboard and I have no idea if it’s supposed to wiggle a bit or not. Lol hopefully I’m good to launch again tomorrow.

I've wanted to do this in a Matt Layden Paradox with chine runners but I would also want a 3/4 keel about 3 feet deep. My grandmother had a fishing camp past the Baffin Bay, since the early 60's On the man made islands next to the intracoastal waterway. My brother & I would take our Hobie cat out in the summers, & explore all the bays & inlets. There are so many fishing camps. We would always take a Neilgide, antelope so we would have plenty of meat the whole summer. My brother had a whole made little barge with a Johnson 25. We would put our Honda 3 wheeler 110 on it, & ride it in Los Amos Creek & that's where we would always try & get a Nalgide. This had to be in 1980 or 81. My grandmother's camp was one of the oldest because she had giant palm trees around her camp. She had an old Army diesel generator. Back in the early 80's you could throw a cast net & catch good size shrimp. I sure miss the good ole days of growing up in South Texas, or the Coastal Bend as Joe Gazin always called it.

I also run a couple of fans inside the cabin all night. I also charge my phone. I don’t put much strain on the system. It is capable of much more.

I use the Honda 2.3. It was the smallest available. The boat designer says the 2.0 was big enough but I couldn’t find one. If I had it to do over I would find one with a longer shaft because when I have needed it the water has been pretty rough and the propeller would come out of the water. With a long shaft you have to be careful the rudder doesn’t contact the prop. This is a really old video I have done a lot of sailing since this was made. Check out the exams 200 videos. The quality of the videos get much better. Thanks for watching.
