Climbed this hill, takes about 30 mins, but it's veeeerry steep! I'm into Geocaching, and there is a cache up here to get. This video clip was made September 2014

Aratiatia rapids. 6.32km below Huka Falls, Summer release hours - 10:00am, 12:00pm, 2:00pm, 4:00pm Winter release hours - 10:00am, 12:00pm, 2:00pm. The waters build up behind the dam, and so they do a release of the build up of water, which makes for a spectacular performance which people flock to see. Enjoy the performance.

A secret well was found underneath a house, in Ponsonby, Auckland, New Zealand. Possibly well over 100 years old. Many houses were built over such structures when they became redundant. Depth unknown, but it IS deep!

It's like being on a Peter Jackson movie set. At anytime you might expect dinosaurs to come screaming out!!

One Tree Hill as it used to be!
So next time do the obvious of learning to talk and give the viewers some history of what the spider was even for
The history of the spider is that it went up, and it came down! Pretty obvious really...
@@michaelcrosse8001 and reality dictates how obvious it is that youre an eager doofus
It's an iconic landmark of Avondale. ❤
RIP Carlaw park. I was pretty amazed at this being built. These crane ops had to crane up their testicles everyday cos they were too big to carry.
Felt my stomach come out my ass
Who did all the steel work d/h
Not sure.
@@michaelcrosse8001 good to see how it was formed and to see the construction from then till now amazing
@@kiabig89 I was very impressed.
@@michaelcrosse8001 yea you would be cheers for the awesome content
wish i were there
i actualy got butterflys watching this,,,imagine a massive earthquake happening well up there
The last ten seconds of this video is just crazy. The crane is up so high How can the top of the tower support it
aww hell nah ! I drive cranes... but you'd not get me up there !!
I helped build that....
Thanks for sharing! Nice!
Hard to imagine the city before the sky tower tbh
Popped up 20/9/24
Wow. I had just started working at TVNZ across the road from SkyCity back then. Great to see Carlaw Park & One Tree Hill again.
I worked with the riggers for years Panama steel erctors allday chef jack and boss man awesome whanau
The house that jack built aye..
A guy I worked with lost his mind running conduit in the basement car parks. Past on from the stress.
Amazing to see this from your point of view- great commentary too. It must have been thrilling up there in high winds. Makes me wanna puke just thinking about it.
Awesome
I am no good at heights so I was getting the hebbie geebies just watching from my bed. Well done. I knew the boys from Fletcher Construction who put the crane together and dismantled it. Great video with loads of history. Well done. Cheers ian
The tree still standing on one tree hill lol
Fark I'm shaking just watching this damn bro😂😂
So much steel up there including his balls
Just stumbled across your video's by luck, started at 3 of 3 and worked back, thank you for having a forethought back then to record this, absolutely awesome !
Makes my feet and hands sweaty af
I remember watching every night from my bedroom window, the 3 red lights as they slowly got higher and higher.
Phwarrr... wicked footage. Got a bucket up there, for...
This is pure 🔥 💯 , back in the day when men were men and not these woke soy boy freaks 🤙😎
Chinese sky city. Great place for entertainment.
There was a Security worker who was killed there during the carpark foundation digging. He was driving a mini golf cart to get around, and ran it off a large cliff end. Most people never heard about it, but for those of us that worked on the Sky tower project, heard and saw it after it happened. 😢
That’s hectic man.. crazy story
I remember it being built. And they had not planned how to get the crane down again!
my left ear enjoyed this! :D and awesome footage!
How churlish.
here in 2024, getting sweaty palms cause youtube algo
Balls of steel standing on top of that mast like that at the end of the vid
I reckon!
How do they get the crane down when they're finished?
Hydraulic jacks I believe, probably another you tube video on that too!
Circa ‘96/‘97

Go the Algorithm ! I was 7 when this video was taken and probably somewhere down there in my dads truck off on a sick day from school, back when life was simple and social media hadn't turned the world gay
Kind of sad that the CBD looks exactly the same as it did in 1997. It's like they just the council/govt stopped giving a fuck and let everything age. But back in its day, Auckland was truly a modern city.
Great video!
Unbelievable video. Thanks for the upload
Bro.. this is unreal!
Awesome that there's not even a fence seperating the site from the public where the crane cab's being lowered directly onto the road. not a roadcone in site! we've devolved a long way in 30ish years..
Common sense back then, if you see a crane operating - stay away! Road cones are extremely overused today.
@@michaelcrosse8001 yep agree completely
At that point of time they were the highest Maoris ever 😂😂😂 coolist video I've seen on TH-cam
High praise indeed!
Invaluable footage of a key part of NZ history. Thanks for the upload
You're welcome mate!
wow what a view from the top of the crane
Shot unkl jo-blo standing on that mast bak in ur height buster days, too good unks! Many years ago
I'm so proud to of my dad. I know it was hard for him but now he is enjoying retirement life. i don't know anything about the video. i'm just proud of my dad.
