When you’ve got 3 instruments capable of laying down polyphonic harmony, each player has to simplify their parts to make the “whole” sound coherent and open. Julian Lage (guitarist) is doing a great job of handling that. You don’t have to be spectacular all the time - it can get tiring and JL understands that. When you possess the skill to remove your ego and still add to the ensemble, you’ll be top of the list when the MD is hiring.
