    Hi, I have a QUBEV Mk1, also made by Rolec and I'm getting my sparks to instal a Shelly relay. Is the layout much different? There's space enough but maybe the connections differ, so a little help is appreciated :) Especially as the night rate of 9p is a lot better that 32p but getting out at 00:30 to plug in manually is not appealing in winter! :)

    I've used the Relay Version and it can be powered on 12v DC or 5v via the USB. I've installed it to interup the CP live to the tethered cable and picked off 12V DC off the 12 V pins on PodPoint Solo

  • @RichSimpson

    Very interesting. Did you complete the install. What if the resistor is at 100% open, still safe at 32a? Any way to remote control this with something wifi based? Would be great to control my rolec 32a dumb charger for the charge rate remotely, so I could use my excess solar to dictate the value using Node Red or Home Assistant instead of a manual knob to turn. Though the manual option is still worth pursuing if no better solutions.

  • @jamesw6698

    Great video. Wondering why you chose the CP connection rather than cutting the live feed to the control module itself? Controlling the CP wire means the LED indicators will continually flash when the charger is not in use. Although minimal, the flashing LED is consuming power. Controlling the live to the module would power off the control module, and just keep the charger in a state of readiness for when the module is powered up. Maybe this method would cause damage or issues though?

    Wired this up to my rolec untethered unit. I've interrupted the proximity pilot pin. It works perfectly at telling my rolec to initiate charge because the car is connected to it, by while during an ongoing charge if I make the Shelly an open circuit, it doesn't disengage the charge session. Very weird

      @hotrex7779 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sorry for late response. When you say proximity pilot pin Are you sure you are on the correct pin as on a untertherd unit I would also expect to see a second control wire that is connected to the lead skt. This connects to a sense resistor in the lead Handel and this resistor tells the controler the maximum power that the lead can Handel. I have not tried intrupting this but I have fitted a variable resistor to it on an old rolec. It made it current adjustable. Output but other controlers respond diferantly Have you conected to this line and not the pilot co pin

      Then it’s is well strange as the car would be monitoring the pwm signal continually And adjust the charge rate dependent on the pwm. If it sees the pwm signal removed and the pilot signal voltage removed the car should stop charging at once as it is also a safety if the lead is pulled out this contact opens first . Again the charger unit should also remove mains voltage from the car in the event that this signal is lost . Very strange. Events.

    Hi Skipp, Hope this finds you well, My 6 month old Sonoff basic R2 konked off ... I tried changing the relay, but it will not budge, it will not come back on (sadly the original relay broke off while desoldering it out) (Also there is no glass fuse, its seems to be a 5 band 10 Ohms 5% resistor in its place inside a heat shrink tube).. Anyhow Funny though 5 other Sonoff basic R2's switches have been working for over three years perfectly well ... And this new unit circuit broke and I cannot figure what component has popped. ... On my timeswitch I connect the normally closed contact to a 1k resistor connected to the 12v output. Instead of the CP line being open circuit this makes the car believe it's connected to an EVSE in standby mode.

    • @iPeel
      @iPeel 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@trevdfield7520 the relay switch should have common, normally closed and normally open contacts. Common goes to the CP line out to the plug, normally open goes to the CP on the EVSE, then the 1k resistor goes between a 12v supply ( possibly on the EVSE controller ) and the normally closed pin of the relay switch.

But once this had been done once and charge was stoped by charger removing pwm signal. Then car would not start a charge again until the 12 volt had been removed. Or taken to -12volt for an extended time to reset. This is the way the omie charger remakes the Mg. ..

    Suggestion for a slightly simpler way to do this mod. All of these steps are done on the non-component side of the SonOff Basic R2. 1) De-solder relay output wire to Neutral terminal (as you did). 2) Cut entirely through the pc board/trace at the point that is common between the fuse lead, and the relay output lead. 3) Route the de-soldered relay output wire from "step 1)" into the pc board's corner notch, and solder it to the relay output solder pad from "step 2)". Confirm that there is no continuity between mains/input terminals and output terminals. No need to drill holes, or relocate the fuse. Just one through cut of the pc board.

      Hi. The pwm signal is a 5 volt pwm. At 1 hz the unit does not seem to respond in a liner fashion to this signal but seems to ramp up as it go’s over about 70%. And ramps down as the pwm drops to about 40%. Hope this helps Bill

      Benjamin Klimmek If you need the circuit diagram I would have to draw it up from my notes. My one is a bit more than need for one unit as I drive 4 inverters from same signal but all are options isolated from each other.

      @@hotrex7779 Thanks for your friendly support. But I like to integrate all in a PLC with Wireless solution and a Smart Meter using Modbus TCP. 😉
