Air bubble in radiator hose spotted
I was able to spot an air bubble in the upper radiator hose using a low end thermal imaging device (FLIR TG165). Just a geek moment in the garage.

Rocker panel rust repair: fabricate and install patch
มุมมอง 36K3 ปีที่แล้ว
This car didn't need an entire rocker panel replacement, only a small section at the front including the front fender mount. Patch panels for this car aren't available so I'm showing how to fabricate and install a patch to repair this typical rust occurrence. I used "satin coat" 18 gauge steel but bare steel will work just as well. Tools used should be as you see in the video... cutting, grindi...
Misfire diagnosis and repair 2008 Hyundai Accent
มุมมอง 21K3 ปีที่แล้ว
This 2008 Hyundai Accent had a totally dead cyl#2 and code P0302. I diagnosed the problem to be a split intake manifold gasket allowing too much air into cyl#2 and would run lean at idle to the point of misfiring. When P0302 set, the ECM would totally shut off fuel to the cylinder. I discovered the problem by spraying brake clean around the intake manifold gasket and listening for the engine RP...

How'd I know a video about how to repair a rocker panel would be done by a guy with a Nova Scotia accent.
@@jackzarczynski6025 It's how she goes around here
Whereabouts you located? I'm looking to get rockers patched on a 2012 mazda 3... Interested?
Appreciate the video. gives some good high level stuff. Nice looking work.
Nice work my friend!
return black 2011
May not have been torqued correctly also would cause shrinkage
Nice
what primer did you use.
Tremclad/Rustoleum red oxide primer
Parabéns meu amigo muito top
great job
One thing i lack is patience to do this type of work. I set up every thing ready and then halfway i end up fecking it up . I do try but i given up caring about stuff.
Hey, I am working on the same issue on my Subaru. I am wondering, do you think it is better to spot weld the pinch weld on the bottom like you did, or leave a small gap for drainage? It seems to me like water will always find a way into the rocker (open body clip holes etc) and then dust will clog the pinch and the water will just rot it out again from the inside. I am considering leaving my pinch weld slightly open to just let it always drain and dry out. I also garage my car and rarely drive in the rain
Yes you do need to allow water to drain. In the past when I did a full rocker replacement on another similar car, I drilled a few 5/16" (8mm) holes along the underside of the rocker just above the pinch weld flange. Maybe not "proper" but it worked.
Excellent job. Excellent description. I like the way you fully explained what you were doing. I also like that you showed the simple tools you made for bending and forming the sheet metal. I think it’s important for people to realize you don’t always need fancy tools to get the job done.
What Guage sheet metal ?
I used 17gauge for this repair but it was thicker than I needed, 18gauge would have been appropriate.
Good info that the problem from gasket manifold, mine just replace injector, but same problem misfire from selinder no2.., next try gasket manifold
Human ability to figure things out, never ceases to amaze me.
Hi, I ran across almost the same issue on 2008 Hyundai Accent. when engine is cold there is no cylinder #1 misfire no multiple cylinder misfire. However, when engine warms up and it's in closed loop also, engine starts to shake slightly and PCM sets multiple misfire and cylinder #1 misfire plus it shuts off fuel injector #1. I rev the rpm up a little bit above idle, engine runs smoothly with no misfires on all cylinders and no injector shutoff. O2 sensor is reporting lean at idle, LTFT is +4%. I tried to spry water on the intake manifold to locate a leak but there is no change at all. I am going to get me a smoke machine to do the leak detection test and will take it from there. Again, when engine is cold no misfire on all cylinders, when engine revved up no misfire at all. Thank you for the valuable information presented on this video.
nice job on that 👏
What is the cost of parts and repairs?
👍🏼 Good job and a great video to boot! My 2016 Accent just threw a blinking CEL and I'll be taking her in on Monday. At least now I'll have a better idea of what's what. Thanks man.
Sometimes is better doing it yourself instead of paying someone else to do it for you when you're doing it on your own you have a tendency to do things to a level of perfection doing the job like a professional not been one and at the end of the job you feel satisfied joyful and proud of what yo did with a positive attitude and a willingness to do things people will be suprises of what they are capable off good job and thank you for teaching and helping others people.
Excellent when the follow up

Thank you very much for your well done & explained video! As it turned out this is exactly what happened to my car, all is well, good job!! 👌👍😊
Great video. Was wondering.. What primer would you suggest on the grinded area of a welded on rocker panel? I don't plan on paint for several months down the road.
I always use self etching primer directly on bare metal, it helps any other coatings stick well. On these patches I've been using Tremclad red oxide primer over the self etch, same as Rustoleum. It's not longterm but it'll protect as long as I need it to. Then spray rust check or fluid film inside the panel where you can't reach with paint, especially the back side of the welds.
Fantastic job sir 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼

IS MY CAR ELANTRA 2008 A GHOST OR SOMETHING? 159k MILES AND NEVER A SINGLE ENGINE LIGHT.
Good job can you come do mine lol
Mine Is disturbing right now when you turn it on it steams for a while and cut off current ,when it's cokd you can fire it but when it's hit you cannot fir it it will off ,be doing break and quench, coil and plugs are okay but steaming and firingg when driving are not working properly
Nice work definitely beyond my capabilities
Had one of these cars, bought it new. After 40,000 it started to buck and kick and throw a CEL. Got ripped off by a dealer one time. Figured out it was the #3 coil going bad but always the #3 in mine. It died at 128k when I burned up the starter ( damn thing absolutely refused to turn over it just cranked and cranked and cranked.) . When I did get it back it absolutely refused to rev over 4000 rpm. Once it cleared that problem the power steering rack let go, that combined with needing a new exhaust was going to be 1200 bucks. The car was worth 300 bucks so it wasn’t worth trying to fix it
Ouch, sorry to hear that. Certainly seems these cars are hit-or-miss when it comes to reliability. I did later put a steering rack in this car and a few other minor repairs that were just caused by our weather and road salt.
Thanks for this video -- going to end up doing something similar and this will be a great reference.
X2
Would have like to see the steps on how to unbolt the Air Intake.. How did you access the bottom bolts hidden by the starter??
I remember there was a brace or two down to the block I had to remove. Can't recall if I got those bottom manifold bolts from topside or underneath. If the Kia coming in tomorrow is similar I'll reply to let ya know.
Great video man im from new brunswick to, saint john to be exact. Being a mechanic around here you fight rust non stop, oxy acy torch is a must to get sezied nuts and bolts out. You in saint john by chance?
I'm near freddy. Not a mechanic, just play with nearly junk cars. Agreed on the oxy-acetylene, shopping for a small set right now.
great work there mate
nice! make more. impressive craftsmanship.
Really nice work there 👍🏻
Do you know where the fuel pressure regulator is located in the 08 Accent?
I don't remember where it was on this car. You can look up the part on rockauto and maybe the picture will help identify it. It could also be inside the fuel tank so don't get too upset if you don't see it under the hood.
It is located in the fuel pump itself in the fuel pump assembly
Great awesome job...
I am having the exact same problem with mine. Thanks
How much gas does the tank hold and around how long does it last?
My manual says fuel capacity 2 quarts. It's enough to do at least my entire driveway and walkways, probably an hour or so? I'll have to time it this year and find out!
@@taillighttapegarage5816 Thank you so much for the helpful info! I have the same model and didn't realize it held that much, hard to tell when it's full.
@@chelsi227 I ran the machine for 1.5hrs and it still has fuel so I'd say it's good for somewhere near 2hrs on a tank. Snow was about 10" deep, not wet or packed.
Nice video! My dad has the same one and it has worked great for him! I recently got the Platinum 24 SHO that I’m looking forward to using. Unfortunately we haven’t gotten much snow yet..
Ariens dual stage snowblowers are workhorses in my opinion... the only thing that holds them back is the unreliability of the Chinese LCT engine... it's too damn finicky.
The machine has served me well for 2 seasons and hopefully a few decades to come. LCT is certainly no Tecumseh, time will tell how reliability goes.
@@taillighttapegarage5816 I bought an Ariens Sno-Tek 24 with a 208cc engine back in 2014. With the exception of one year, I've had issues with the engine. Even though I started draining all the gas out, I still couldn't get it to start without taking it to a shop. Last winter I started using VP ethanol free gas, and I didn't have starting issues, but I'll see about the upcoming winter season. Maybe the LCT AX engine version is built differently than the ones put on the cheaper models, but since both versions are Chinese made, you just don't know what the hell you're getting from them. Good luck with your machine.
Yea it's to bad they put junk ass engines on them, Save your money and buy a Honda, It will last a life time
