@@donnyabernethy2082 I added that in the video. Thank you.
Wrong! Never secure to the rub rail spacers.
Why? That is why it is install on the trailer. Where would you use securement?
@ stake pockets…
@@TNDTRANSPORTATIONLLC Why?
@@lifeontheroad_ A flatbed trailer rub rail spacer is not designed for cargo securement; its primary purpose is to protect the trailer's sidewall from damage.

So, he was overweight for the trailer he had?
th-cam.com/video/3iCquw2S-lg/w-d-xo.htmlsi=M5Afi-WIOz70PMah Maybe I should remove that short. Here is a better video. The drive only had 7k axles, therefore, with trailer weight and load, he was over the 14k axle rating.
Insurance is provided by the carrier based on the state of operations. I operated out of Ohio, insurance was based out of Ohio.
What about insurance is the owner operator is on a different state
That's biohazard like for m pox
Sure wish mine had just slipped right off
Need to close up the adjuster.
good job
Good information. Another one to be mindful of is the registered weight on the trailer's registration, especially if the trailer has been de-rated.
I have a video on the very subject. I stated that a driver cannot overload a de-rated trailer, most people hated that video.
Your blocking under your spools isnt even hitting the spools. I could tell you how to do it, but with all the people on here praising you for your monkey tie down job, Common sense evades this video an so does the majority of people commenting on it, they know as little as you do, otherwise they wouldnt be praising you for it.
Your tight strap means nothing after your pipe rolls from the side and loosens your so-called, "tight strap".
Never strap something to a side of a trailer. Center it and wrap a strap around the pipe so that it will never move from side to side. The minute you leave the yard, that pipe will roll and immediately loosen the strap. I will V- block any pipe I haul and screw the V-blocks to the wood on each side of the pipe. You have a long way to go, the items on your trailer are tied wrong, but at least you know the law when your picking your items off the road or out of the ditch after they come off the trailer. Go to a truck stop and observe all of the flat bed loads and how they do it. Some might be like you as well, not a seasoned hauler. Common sense is the biggest part of it. never think it is good enough, ALWAYS throw another strap on it for safety.
What boutique axle seal?
Not sure what you are asking?
Can you share a link to where you bought those LED lights? Having trouble finding LEDs that are a direct swap for the ones Big Tex uses.

The wheel size and tire size is on the VIN plate as well as the recommended tire pressure. Seen at 2:33 in your video. Cool content 🤘🏼
The socket to fit the axle nuts is the same size as for the hub cap. When installing, inner nut is torqued to 100 ft lbs while turning the hub, to seat the bearings. Then back off to release pre-load torque and hand tighten. Back off 1/8 to 1/4 turn. Install tab washer, then outer nut, torqued to 100 - 175 ft lbs. Also, Dexter says do not jack anywhere on the axles or suspension parts. My trailer has the same axles, oil bath hubs, but with hydraulic brakes.
I’m having trouble finding the lug nut torque. I have these exact ones in the video
@@rg8282 Lug nut torque for the 10K Dexter axle is 200 ft lbs. It should be stamped on the ring the nuts tighten against
I'd like to cut off the bottom 3 inches of my big tex 22gn, it drags entirely too much
Unfortunately, all Big Tex with mega Ramps drag. I have video of me getting stuck going up a hill into a gas station. The long the trailer, the worse the problem

Rookie 😮
Why a rookie?
@lifeontheroad_ your trailers name says it all. 14GN= 7k akles x2. Failed to weigh in after getting loaded especially running non CDL
@@fritzduval Maybe a little misleading, but he did scale immediately after leaving shipper. DOT did not stop him. Load was returned.
That sucks . Time to upgrade trailer axles...
Upgrading to a 16GN 8k axles would be great. But it is part of hotshotting as a non-cdl.
@lifeontheroad_ you can still get 8k axles and derate to 14k...I ran with you for almost 3 years with 8k axles. They also come with 16 ply tires. I could place my load anywhere I wanted. There's levels to this stuff...I would never run 7k axles. Have you ever seen the size of the brakes on an 8k axle compared to a 7k? Almost TWICE the size. 8k axles are the ONLY answer for non-cdl. Then, if you remember, I raised the GVWR back up to the trailers ORIGINAL 20k GVWR and used it to obtain my cdl....then ran that trailer and truck apportioned for 34k! then I got the diamond c cdl trailer. Again, there are LEVELS to this game!

What is this hinge mount? Where to get etc?
More than likely from Amazon. It is designed to go front of a semi truck.
Both nuts have to align with each other? Or it does not matter?
Pre-tension is only set by first axle not. The second nut only helps lock in lock washer. If first nut is set to original position, then second will be set in its original position.
Hi, how is the license plate holding up ?
I let a driver use trailer. I am guessing that he backed into something because it is bent inwards.
What year is that trailer
2022
@@lifeontheroad_ I have a 2023 big Tex 25gn and I noticed an issue with the front jacks. When I’m unhooking from my truck and I’m lowering the jacks, once the left jack touches the ground the right one is still about 3 inches off the ground. Not sure if it’s a big deal but shouldn’t they be touching the ground at the same time? I wonder if there is an adjustment. Even it’s it’s not a big deal it pisses me off since the trailer cost me so much money and it’s brand new. Any idea?
@@disarmyou84 Hmmm. This trailer does the same thing. However, I assumed it was uneven ground. But maybe the jacks are uneven. Quality Control has been lacking on all accounts. Make sure to check all electrical connects, especially heat shrink connectors at axles for brakes. More than likely brakes will need adjusted. I just had an owner-operate with the same trailer. The wiring harness was stuck between the decking broads.
@@lifeontheroad_ yes the way they wire it it’s like they don’t know it can rub through on the contact points. It’s a shame since it cost so much.
Where did you get seals
I don’t recall. More than likely from Amazon.
@@lifeontheroad_ I just put all four on my dexter 10k this past week. $1100 after tax just for brakes. I replaced all bearings with Timken that was another $300. Hood thing I know how to do it my self or I would have been out a crap ton of money. Bad part is after I done it I found the brakes for way cheaper 😭😭🤣
It is definitely a great thing when you can replace/repair your own equipment. Not sure if you using equipment commercially, but if are and according to FMCSA, you may not be qualified to perform a brake service. Keep that in mind. I replace all four brakes on a 14GN. I found a cheap set of brakes. As I was installing brakes, I realized that the brakes were not self-adjusting. That is why the price was cheaper.
Great video 👍🏾
I can’t see nothing. Please delete this video
Okay
Next time, cycle the ignition before trying to start 4-7 times until you don’t hear fuel going through the filters anymore. Starting it like that before it’s bled of air is really hard on the injectors and high pressure fuel pump.
Yeap. It was mistake that I made.
@@lifeontheroad_ Hope your truck was okay. I just did a set on mine tonight. Your video and others like it motivated me to do it. Have it running right now, will probably go ahead and change the oil to. It’s at about 13% life so better do it. Appreciate you putting that video out. Thanks
Your right and your wrong. And the reason I say that is because I've done both. And yes you can make money in hotshot trucking with a 1 ton. If you know the truth. The problem with the dot laws if you do not sit down with your local transportation cabinet. And get the facts directly from them and push the envelope from state to state to get the facts from what their laws are from state to state. And you don't know what you legal weight limits are before starting. You will fail. But you can drive under both, CDL and none CDL. And make good money. The problem is with the trucking industry. And your everyday truck driver. They see those that are in the hotshot business as a threat to their lively hood. Let me tell you something so you have the truth about the business of hotshot. I've drove both heavy duty in the Big rigs. And love it just as much as the other. But I also run hotshot because it is a smooth and easier life. And either way. I make a killing doing it. You have to have the right sit-up. And know your business from back to front. You have to look into this business with a deeper since of understanding. And know those who are your customers. And sit the record straight before you get in it. Have your contracts. And those you sigh contracts with to Haul for them to understand you are indeed limited to a limited GVWR. I myself run Big Rigs. And I run hotshot. I haul anywhere from 10,000 to 80,000 pounds 5-6 days a week. And am home when I need or want to be home. And my take home pay after fuel and on the road expenses is anywhere between $15,000.00 - $25,000.09 weekly
What do you mean? The dealer told me I could? Lol!
Seems like we both spend our free time under the trailer! Good lawd!
Long time no see....great video!!!!
I have a couple of YT shorts out there. But Yes Sir, way too long. We have been extremely busy growing the company.
I thought you have to have a minimum of 2 Straps no matter how small??
According to FMCSA, only one form of securement is needed if load is under 5’ and 1100lbs “Minimum Number of Tiedowns The cargo securement system used to restrain articles against movement must meet requirements concerning the minimum number of tiedowns. This requirement is in addition to complying with rules concerning the minimum working load limit. When an article of cargo is not blocked or positioned to prevent movement in the forward direction, the number of tiedowns needed depends on the length and weight of the articles. There must be - one tiedown for articles 5 ft or less in length, and 1,100 lbs or less in weight; two tiedowns if the article is - 5 ft or less in length and more than 1,100 lbs in weight; or greater than 5 ft but less than 10 ft, regardless of weight. In the following example, one tiedown is required because the article of cargo is 5 ft in length and does not exceed 1,100 lbs. If the article of cargo were greater than 5 ft in length but less than 10 ft, two tiedowns would be needed regardless of the weight. When an article of cargo is not blocked or positioned to prevent movement in the forward direction, and the item is longer than 10 ft in length, then it must be secured by two tiedowns for the first 10 ft of length, and one additional tiedown for every 10 ft of length, or fraction thereof, beyond the first 10 ft. An example of this is provided below. If an article is blocked, braced or immobilized to prevent movement in the forward direction by a headerboard, bulkhead, other articles that are adequately secured, or other appropriate means, it must be secured by at least one tiedown for every 10 ft of article length, or fraction thereof.” Follow this link- www.fmcsa.dot.gov/sites/fmcsa.dot.gov/files/docs/Drivers_Handbook_Cargo_Securement.pdf
Woah! You are so smart and talented! Can’t believe I know these famous people!
Thank you for the kind comment.
Do I need my CDL license to hotshot??
No. A CDL is not necessary needed, as long as weight and gvcw is under 26001lbs. However, it is highly recommended to obtain and use a CDL.
I know that this is an older video. But are you guys still looking for additional drivers?
Email Danielle: Danielle@ohiohauler.com
Nice job securing with the straps. At least you know about the abrasive damage to the straps and the deduction for damages. One suggestion is that you might want to have a couple of the 4" straps to go over the entire racks (red and green ). Just a suggestion. You did a real fine job on everything else. The one other thing is that I would be sure to use Grade 70 transportation chains and hooks, either 5/16 or 3/8 . Heads up when buying a chain set, BE SURE THAT THEY HAVE THE CORRECT HOOKS. I have noticed that if you buy a setup, sometimes whomever is putting the the sets together used the wrong hooks on the correct chains just to have DOT disqualified the new chains because of the hooks. Keep up the nice work,be safe and keep trucking
I worked for a pipeline company as a driver...way wrong...it has to be in the middle of trailer..an belly wrapped...yes take measures to protect the factory coating on it
