He pronounced Σημαίνει as "shemainē" if I heard that correctly!! Almost like the Classical Greek pronunciation of that word! No way this has survived to the present day!

My wife says she can tell if people are Pontic based on their surnames? Her surname ends with -idis, and according to her (told to her by her father) only pontic people have these surnames?

When the man in the church started counting in Greek from 1 to 14 there was only 2 differences from modern Greek in numbers 6 & 8 the first difference is that they don't use the letter ξ on 6 (έξι) also the whole word is vastly different (eche ~ ετσε) than in modern Greek & the 2nd difference is that they don't use the letter χ on 8 (οχτώ) & the pronouncement is the same without χ, really strange but very interesting stuff, the Greek language for sure went from various changes through the times until we reach to that point we are today, listening this strange Calabrian Greek dialect is like going a travel back to Medieval times.

Pontians are not Hellenic at all. 100 million French speakers of Kongo are French? No, they are not. Pontians are literally Caucasian people who are closely related to Lazes,Georgians,Abkhazians,Chechens,Circassian and other Caucasian people. They can be Greek speaking but culturally,historically,genetically they are natives of Caucasia.
