I'm years late but the complaints kinda fall down to slwhy did you buy it if you didn't like those features? At that price point you could order a custom made from S5. I'm 5'10" and use a 31 inch blade with a 12 inch tsuka. Had to look all over for a blade that fit my preferences when i got it 17 years ago I don't like either of those shorter. Sounds like a perfect katana for me minus the fittings but I often swap those out anyway. Does it have any distal taper? you want that on longer blades to get faster cuts and better ballance. No distal taper would be a deal breaker for me.

I don't mind the bling if the bling is resilient and doesn't wear or fade. The reason I hate silver or gold isn't the look or the status people put on them, it's that silver coating wears down by rubbing it with your hand. If I could get the exact same look I'd put a metal trim or a metal paint with the silver look on anything I could.

Shadow Dancer is superior, hands down. i have their s5 and their s7 swords. no rattle, everything tight and snug, super-sharp blades. better quality all-around AND a better price.

those fittings look like my grandmother's wallpaper when i was a kid. LOL!

Badass sword too. Can’t afford one right now. My expensive sword is tamahagane so more for Iaido. I did pick up an s5 cloudhammer. Hopefully that will scratch the cutting itch

Does the bohi really makes the katana weaker? even with s5 shock steel? I had a chat with one of the guy from the website, but I'm still skeptical since s5 shock steel is pretty dang tough.

Also katanas are like shoes, you really should get a feel for it before buying (im aware that can be hard)

Late to the party, but understated elegant furniture for me. As for the length, I was curious what a katana length for my size should be (6ft), so I did some math based on supposed average samurai height back in the day (5'3"?) compared to the supposed 28" average katana blades. And at 6ft tall, it would be about 32". Granted, those are just numbers from Google, so it's all 'alleged'. In the end, obviously it's all how you feel and how it performs for you. I was just curious if big westerners just all got used to relatively small katanas because that's the size of the originals for much smaller guys. Silly math and fun maybe-facts aside, thanks for sharing this.
