      I think it was 2’ deep by 4’ wide and the height was around 36”

      This is walnut hardwood. I only needed to use a water based polyurethane thankfully

    Awesome build! Impressive how ease was to make a bed! Unfortunely the "Floyd Bed Frame" is top expensive do import from Brazil

    Beautiful tray! I’m glad you are okay after the mishap….that was definitely scary! Quick question…..did you have any issues with warping after the build? I have made 2 circular trays 30” in diameter and both have warped and look like tacos now.

      Thanks for commenting! I haven’t heard anything from my client on any warping. What kind of finish did you use and what kind of use do your trays get?

      @@bexarbuilds The first tray I used pine, 2xs milled down to just shy of 3/4”, water based stain, paint, and poly. It warped after the fact. The second tray I used pine already at 3/4”. It has already started to warp before I have even started sanding it down…and I made sure to place the wood so the “rings” on the end cut were opposite and I didn’t clamp it too tight AND I put a counter clamp on top to keep it flat while drying. I know that soft pine is more prone to warp, but 2 times is ridiculous now. Maybe I need to make the base thicker? Instead of 3/4” base, keep it at 1.5”?

    What’s size thickness is the hardware between the middle spacing?

    Why not just glue 4 pieces of plywood and make a single piece of bed. Use small legs by cutting sections of a 4x4 redwood and buy nothing from Floyd

    starting this! my total cost in Feb 2024 is 4x $81=$324 (birch plywood home depot) + $260 (frame hardware)+ $100 (headboard hardware) + $54 (shipping from floyd) = $ 738 plus tax (includes 20% off floyd sale)

    What about edgebanding? Raw front edges for easy splinters. Then the is the toe nailing of the particians.

      I sanded up to 220 grit on the edges and finished with a water based polyurethane coat, so splinters won’t be poking out anytime soon. And I used wood glue along the top, bottom, and back with the brad nails for the partitions

    I have the floyd bed frame queen. Looking to upgrade mattress size to king. Is there a DIY option for the hardware?

      The only option I've seen was buying additional hardware from their website :/ I haven't found a DIY alternative, though I'm sure it would take a little bit of time for design and fabrication. I wouldn't mind trying to make an alternative in the future. It's pretty tough to stomach Floyd's prices.

    Why not poly ? Cutting board oil isn't a good finish

      I wanted something that wouldn't have water bead up on the surface of the wood. The cutting board oil allows water to soak in over time and show age. I'm a sucker for a good patina. I wouldn't be opposed to using poly in the future.

    Does it look good/work well if you put a stain on something and then add walrus oil? Or does it finish better with natural wood.

      I imagine it would finish better with natural wood, but I've never tried staining and then oiling over it.

      If you're gonna do a cutting board, definitely do not apply stain. Stain is toxic and is not safe to put on anything that will be touching food. As for coasters, you're not putting food on them, so I would guess you could stain them to your heart's content. But I'm no professional.

    rather than gluing the giant panel, I'd glue them after cutting up and then trim once more. it's hard to apply even pressure across the large panel. GJ tho

      Yeah! Kreg sells pocket hole screws that are labeled as good for softwoods/plywood/MDF/particle board.

      I just checked their website and for the queen sized bed with headboard and shipping, it’s right around $1,650. To buy hardware and plywood the total is around $880 (if you consider your work free) I’ll agree though on the hardware prices. Pretty outrageous

      @@bexarbuilds They must be on sale with hardware because it was almost $700 plus tax and shipping. It’s reason I did not move forward. I may looking into it again after prices on 4 pieces of grade A wood.

    I would be worried that you have some cavitation in the middle only using edge clamps. But it looks nice!

      I actually put a bunch of tools on the middle to make sure that there weren’t any air gaps between the two sheets. Just didn’t put that footage in because I tried to keep the video under a minute

      The whole plywood sheet was 48" x 96" and 3/4" thick

    Why don't people respect company's copyright and trade marks anymore? Is it because we think the company's costs are zero? This is not a Floyd bed and you shouldn't say you're making one.

    What were the dimensions of the whole piece of plywood, the most common size is 4x8 feet but I don’t think that covers all the pieces

      The sheet was 4x8. Might’ve lost some fractions of an inch from the blade width but you should be able to make all 7 panels with one 4x8 sheet. I used OSB for the middle support because I needed some of the plywood for another project

      I glued them and then cut because if I didn’t, I’d have to make two identical panels and then have to worry about glueing them up square

      Honestly, that's fair. When I made the video I definitely didn't think I would have an international audience. I'll have to add those mm's to my projects that I include dimensions. 30" x 24" panels (762 mm x 609.6 mm) 18.5" x 24" (469.9 mm x 609.6 mm) 28.5" x 18.5" panels (723.9 x 469.9 mm) 18.5" x 22.5" panel (469.9 mm x 571.5 mm) I'm sure that you could round up to the next whole number on those decimals.

    Wow people think when they sell an item that's expensive they think they can't build one it's waye cheaper to make one rather than paying almost 2000 dollars for it all it is is wood thank you for sharing this video it came out beautiful 2023 he's very creative

    That is a shelf. You made a peg shelf. A peg board holds tools and useful things. Your shelf holds perennials and wooden cutouts of the words "live","laugh", and "love". You did do a good job though. Hopefully you have some humor when you read this 😜

    Great video, did you by chance get the measurements or blueprints of the steel hardware to reproduce the brackets? If you did would you share them I am in the process of reproducing this bed frame with a few changes.

      I didn't get any measurements of the hardware. I only know that the height under the platform is six to seven inches and the hardware holds 1.5" thick panels.
