Welcome to DownShifting76. Thank you for jumping in for the ride! Cliff realized from an early age that cars, trucks, and mechanical aptitude would be a part of life. Growing up Cliff's father Jerry owned a small trucking and logistics company and Cliff was a part-time mechanics helper performing routine maintenance as an elementary student and never looked back. His true passion developed looking at black and white photos of Jerry's drag racing days in the 1960s and riding passenger in his brother's 1955 Chevy Hot Rod then applying the mechanical knowledge to Cliff's own builds, projects, and race cars.
After graduating he went to work full-time for a successful SCCA and Trans Am racing program. Transitioning into a successful corporate career, the automobile is still Cliff's true passion. He has a wide variety of knowledge about many different makes and models and is considered an expert in Ford and Shelby.

I had mine for six years and about 100,000 miles.
@adantorres9393 that awesome to have that firsthand experience. Thank you very much for watching!
Great car
@user-zr8dv9ig6w the GT was an absolute blast to review. Thank you very much for watching!
I run them in all my trucks and cars. Cabin air filters also. Go with the best.
@jimbomorrison7133 glad you have had great luck with K&N. Thank you very much for watching!
This year’s black rims on the blackout package look goofy.
Sucks they stopped making these tires cause this was all I used to run. If anyone buys these tires check the dot date on the tire cause they stop making them in 2019.
As of this post the Terra Grappler G2s' are still produced but the original generation of the Terra Grapplers have not been produced for quite some time. I believe around 2015 but don't hold me to that. The G2 sizes are relatively limited considering. They are only available in 16-, 17-, and 18-inch wheel sizes for a total of 20 sizes still on the market. The Terra Grappler G2s' from this video still on my F150 are manufacture dates the 14th week of 2022. www.nittotire.com/light-truck-tires/terra-grappler-g2-all-terrain-light-truck-tire/?_gl=1*x3eies*_up*MQ..&gclid=CjwKCAjwvvmzBhA2EiwAtHVrb9YtZomGWqSg9S9irfmvB95qBu1uXMfFOx9EP1K6-GjiMEcpQm6hcRoCavIQAvD_BwE I personally want to give the KO3s' a try since I have had really good luck with the KO2s' in the past but they have a premium price for sure. Hope this helps and thank you very much for watching!
I have the Goodyear Wrangler Fortitude HT on my 2022 Ram Laramie 1500 4x4. I have 20810 miles on my truck and the outer edges of all 4 tires are wearing prematurely. They won't last another 4K miles. The Goodyear website states these tires are 65K mile tires. I don't do burn outs, don't take my truck off road, and don't beat my truck up. I have rotated the tires every 5K miles and maintain the air pressure to factory spec. I had my dealership verify that the vehicle alignment is good and the tires and wheels are properly balanced. Could someone please explain why my tires are wearing so poorly? Thanks
Too bad that's old news. There are now 4 engine options with the added 6.8L gas engine.
It’s pretty amazing how much torque the 6.7 has
@GarzaDiesel I know I sound like the "old guy" here lol. In 1997 I was working on a Peterbilt with a 13 speed and a 3406E Caterpillar engine and a group of mechanics tuning and watching the dyno numbers. When we broke 1600 LB-FT in a commercial semi we thought that was absolutely crazy. Now you can drive a 3/4 ton pickup truck with 1200 LB-FT from the factory and go up from there if your want. It is definitely amazing and often taken for granted. Thank you very much for watching!
American engines are so pathetic 🤣
I have to assume the small block Chevy produced from 1954 to 2003 missed that memo. Thank you very much for watching!
Looks good
@GarzaDiesel thank you very much for watching!
I like the sport appearance package better? What do you think?
@sgtaaronp I do like to Sport Appearance package. I am personally surprised that I don't see more F150 Sport Appearance combines with the 4x4 on the road. IMO its a great looking combination with out the over the top luxury and expense options. Thank you very much for watching!
Aluminum wheels? I see Ford is on a diet 😂
Thanks for sharing, i live in Canada but i plan to do a road trip just to go check out Shelby stuff, Museum ect.. this would be awesome to catch while there.
@jerryday8817 glad you enjoyed the video! If you make the trip to the Dallas area send us a message and we can get lunch at Fords Garage. Thank you very much for watching!

A 150/1500 is a half ton and they have always rode nice, I've owned them for 40 years. Now a 2500 or 3500 (3/4 & 1 ton) are different.

You like to take it out the box?
As opposed to installing the filter on the vehicle in the box, yes lol. Thanks much for watching!
It's a filter. It's impossible for you to be able to qualify whether it's the best or not without testing. There's literally no way to quantify that with 1 vehicle. You would have to have at least 2 vehicles, test the oil after every change, and run both of them on the road at the same time during the testing. Even then, the differences in filters is negligible.
My personal recommendation, th-cam.com/video/fU4JAkqv65g/w-d-xo.html Thanks much for watching!
I’m old…and change my motor oil every 4-5k. Just about any driving not done by grandma, could be considered severe…
@swheeler6848 LOL, thank you very much for watching!
The fact that K&N sell 'sealing grease' would suggest that K&N are aware that their filters do not seal properly. Why they would not address the issue instead of offering a band-aid solution baffles me.
Yeah that filters to tight
@joeletty2 thank you very much for watching!

Hi quick question, are the terra grappler louder than the goodyear duramax?
@enriquezaldivar9732 I could not give you an honest answer comparing the Goodyear Duramax since I have not driven on a set at this point, Good luck and thank you very much for watching!
Wild!! I still remember specifics that day of the 500hp Mustang running out of fuel at high RPMs. Hard to believe we only both made around 300HP HP!
We thought we were doing something with 300HP LOL!
Keep up the good work
@josephsabater7788 thank you very much for watching!
I just bought a k&n filter for the first time. I’ve heard a lot of negative and positive things about it besides what you’ve shown do you have any other advise?
@Phoenix-uv2wl just service it well without over oiling the filter and you should have a good experience. Good luck and thank you very much for watching!
We've logged hundreds of thousands of kilometers on K&N air filters. We let them sit overnight on a paper towel after reoiling them so let excess oil wick out.
@AnthonyJ350 glad it has worked out for you and thank you very much for watching!
If you can’t install an intake you might wanna check out other hobbies cause cars get really expensive if you have to go to a shop for every tiny thing you want done
if you cant put an intake on by yourself you shouldnt be modding your car at all
Why would you buy parts and not install them yourself
It's a little mod that helps a little. Also if they understand what it does, and know to hook one up correctly.
TH-cam university has made everybody an expert... There's no need for performance shops anymore. Just let them destroy their engines, thinking they know a thing or two, from TH-cam university. And then pick that piece of s*** up for half price. Fix it and sell it back to them. For double.
@mr.mckinnon5680 ouch lol Thank you very much for watching!
It's a part of the link for other performance upgrades. Also doesn't make sense to hook one up to be a hot air intake
If you cant install a performance air intake yourself you should even be driving any kind of performance vehicle.
Point less 💯
OR... just hear me out here... don't waste $500 on something that does absolutely nothing other than make your intake louder, and most likely your air will be hotter... manufacturers usually want to get the best mpg to sell more vehicles, the intake is already in the optimal location... pulling in air from every direction under your hood is not cold air...
But what if i like intake noise
if your intake is a restriction in the first place you will see performance gains even if you have a hot air intake. i've tested that on a stock dodge caliber with a 20$ spectre intake on a dino. hot air doesn't effect your performance unless there's something wrong with your head (engine). or your running a turbo. hot air intake is not even a bad idea in the first place. back in the 60s ford had the 200ci inline 6 and the intake manifold and the exhaust manifold was on the same side. the reason for this is so the customer can get in their mustang and go. they do not have to sit there and wait for the motor and carb to warm up. this may sound pointless in the summer but may be a good idea in colder areas. but forreal tho every car has a drive by wire set up. this means your throttle body is controlled remotely by your tps sensor. the throttle body is a masses restriction. you can replace it with a larger mechanical one. your probably will need a larger maf sensor and bam your car's computer will do a small tune for the best power and gas mileage it's not magic it's just intake noises and the joy loving your car. some time +5 miles per gallon or 20 herspers
how about rain? I know you can't test snow living in texas. but tire rack rates them almost poor for snow and ok for rain at a 7.3 but michelin and continental is 9.2 in rain
@blue03r6 First thing thank you very much for watching! The Goodyears are "Okay" in the rain but my opinion is that the Tire Rack reviews are an accurate reflection. I am personally a fan of Michelin Tires and have them on two different vehicles at this time. If it is in the budget I would definitely suggest the Michelin for a highway tread truck tire. Hope this helps!
You are the only one I’ve heard say that it’s a steal for 56k. All the other TH-cam videos have said otherwise
@Frogsplash27 Camaro ZL1 (MSRP) of about $72,100, Will be gone as we know it after 2024. 2024 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray / base model starts at $69,995 and goes up to $86,645 before dealer mark ups and if anyone has seen a Corvette without markups I would be surprised. 2023 Dodge Challenger MSRP the Base R/T Scat Pack $48,995. Package MSRP top out at $90,340. No doubt about those having a dealer mark up when available but reality is also gone as we know it. Closest Eruopean competitor, 2024 BMW M3 E92, starting MSRP of $76,000 and can cost up to $119,695 depending on the trim and options. In 2013 $62,205.00 for my GT500. Reality of the world we live in now, $30.00 for 2 at Chick-fil-A. IMO $56,000 before discounts is the best deal in the current market. Thank you very much for watching!
@@DownShifting76 I am not disagreeing with any of the points you just made, but other TH-camrs have brought up the lack of interior premium qualities for that price for example.
@@Frogsplash27 that has been the case for a lot of years now. If you've have ever watched the episode of Top Gear test driving the 2013 GT500 the plastic interior was something pointed put multiple time back then and hasn't changed much. It's almost become part of the American auto marked sadly enough. If I was forced to point out any negative and this is just my opinion. It would be the tech. Right now its great, BUT for anyone that keeps a vehicle long term (I usually do) I believe the landscape of digital will look like an Atari 2600 in just a few years. Thanks much for the comments, its helps a lot!
I’ve heard K&N intakes are terrible for your truck in the long run, they suck in the oil on the filters. Is that true?
@POV_UT Not in my personal experience and I tried to share as much as possible in the long form video. th-cam.com/video/k0fgspFLj38/w-d-xo.html Thank you very much for watching!
Mine leaks no maker what gasket. Needed RTV
@bodyshotjake7475 glad you got it to stop leaking and thank you very much for watching!
I literally just spray it off with a hose, let it dry a full day in the sun, then apply a LIGHT coating to the intake side of the filters. Too many chimp brains just let loose with the oil and it kills MAF sensors quick. The secret is to ACTUALLY clean it, and DO NOT over oil the media. Using the stock air box is also the best method, as millions of dollars in development were dumped into positioning that airbox for the best flow possible, at coldest ambient temps. So yeah, drop-ins are probably best.
@Litvagopnik thank you very much for watching!
Leveled or stock ride height?
@zumie8703 stock ride height with Bilstein 5100's. Thank you very much for watching!
I've been using K&N filters for over 50 years and haven't had an issue. Air filtration used to be done with an oil bath system and they worked well, but were messy on the maintenance aspect which caused a lot of them to not get serviced, so they started with the throwaway paper elements. K&N filter system was designed by a desert racer that got tired of sand going through the paper destroying his engines.
@warrenlucier5796 Air filtration used to be done with an oil bath system and they worked well, is an excellent point. I have never conceded the two situation in the same function but is absolutely true. Thank you very much for watching!
If it is not a true "cold air system" and is only a pipe with a filter on the end it is a waste of time and money. sucking hot air from your engine compartment will reduce mileage and power and also damage you engine over time.
@russellaustin4988 "not a true "cold air system" and is only a pipe with a filter" Probably an oversimplification on my part. The size and flow characteristics are 100% priority to not encounter an issue requiring aftermarket / modified tuning. Again, it is definitely an engineered system as stated in the video. Simply removing the filter on the OE enclosure will cause most letemodel vehicle to no operate corrctly. "it is a waste of time and money" Seams simple. Don't buy one. The OE systems work great. "sucking hot air from your engine compartment" The systems I have draws air from he OE supply location so that is a mute point or Ford did a terible job. "will reduce mileage and power" That was addressed. What sort of reduction did you see in your milage changing from an OE system? "damage you engine over time" (your) Also addressed at 112,000 miles with no issues. I will be glad to update that at 200,000K miles. What sort or life expectancy issues have you experience when changing from an OE induction system? Thanks much for watching!
Totally agree. To me, the main motive is really that throaty growl. I wanna hear the beast.
@compassandradio6261Thank you very much for watching!
The filter catches small metal fragments, the magnets aren't needed and they do nothing extra.
Rare Earth magnets are the best so this is a good product
@Raider352 Thank you very much for watching!
Thank you so much Boss ❤
