St Kilda station is kinda new. The old one was burnt to the ground somewhere around the early 90s i think. Very cool you mentioned the loop line that linked Windsor Station. The siding is still at Windsor(now a park)and is followable with a little imagination and a satelite map. The tressel bridge over St Kilda Road for it was something else. Nice vid man

Nothing here about Manor? Situated a further 3 or 4 miles on from the Racecourse, not far from the old Wests Road tip. Also saw a comment below about the old Bellarine Peninsula line to Queenscliff, would be good to see some history on that as very little is in public forum save for the book Trains Troops and Tourists by Paul Kenny.

I never realized we had all these accidents in Victoria, a well put together account of these terrible accidents , thank you for posting . Condolences to all those involved . With a bit of luck the crossing removal operations in Melbourne will also happen out in the country areas improving safety. On the crossing removals , i happened to be going for a walk in reservoir around one of the footy ovals and thought id take a look at the nearby k eon park railway station which has been recently upgraded with the raising of the rail tracks to get rid of the rail, road crossing. I think they did a bloody good job , it's just a pity it took so long for the authorities to get these dangerous crossings upgraded.

4:25: they weren't driving an old Ford. This is the 1925 model, so brand new at the time of the accident.

Werribee racecourse station is an underground rave location every 20 years that has a strict invite only at certain times of the year. My last rave there was 2007 and I’m looking forward to the next one in 2027. Excellent video by the way🥸👍

The crossing in Horsham has been replaced with another crossing. There is however a crossing on Edith St to Dooen rd that has had many accidents and is due to be fixed and/or removed.

The outer cirlce line was to originally take fresh farm produce from East Victoria to the markets. There was no govt railways back then transport was funded by businesses who took huge risks with their own money. Then without any help from the govermment, they Victorian Govt started making theor own roads and railways and undercut businesses.

"Why are these old lines turned into bike paths?" The government really does not like giving up its land, it may be an old road or a train right-of-way. The government knows that if it wanted to do something with the land in the future, it would be expensive to buy back. Also, much of the land is unusable for anything else. too narrow or is at the bottom of a cutting

The Kerang accident was not the driver did not swerve to miss the train. He actually could not see the flashing lights due to the intense fog and hit the train and due to the direction of the trains travel it dragged the truck around and caused the dig into the carriage

well surrey hill stations gone an so is mont albert now replaced with a crappy generic eyesore known as union

remember my grampa always took the train from ringwood to canterbury as he worked at the telecom exchange there up till the explosion an he got hearing damage from it

Im a few years late but i love your passion for this. One thing I would say, cease service on the Altona loop but keep the loop intact. In Brisbane we have the seldom-used Tennyson loop, which is a great help when we have inner city closures for the Cross River Rail, as Beenleigh and Gold Coast lines can redirect to the city via the Ipswich/Springfield lines. The same could be used in a pinch if theres ever any issues on V-Line, and they need to redirect via Werribee/Altona.

About 1.5 km closer to Dandenong from Lynbrook Station, there used to be another station called Lyndhurst with a few Victorian railways-owned houses around it. It was accessed via Bayliss Rd. In 1981, a few months before the station closed, along with another co-worker I installed some extra temporary phone lines to one of the houses for a local politician and he stood us to a nice home-cooked meal and some discussion about local history. That area haas been swallowed up by an industrial estate.
