KEH also never lists the shutter count on their camera bodies.

KEH is awful. They lowball so hard. Just got a quote for over 1000$ less from KEH after checking MPB. They tend to be arrogant as well, in my experience.

I've only bought one item from KEH - a Nikkor 24mm f2.8 non-Ai manual focus that I got a couple of weeks ago. According to the serial number, the lens is from 1972-1975. It was rated as excellent, and it shows: perfect glass and barely visible marks on the barrel. I have not used MPB: they do not offer the vintage photo equipment that KEH does.

Just seeing this channel linked from your insta. Nice content! My comment will be months late and stale but liked the video and subscribed. Your take is great (on taking vs making). I describe photography as being good at knowing where/when to locate and push a button, so I found this relatable. Obviously there is a lot more to photography and videography: initial choices of lenses, filters, exposure settings, post editing, lighting, but the basic premise is unchanged since the first photograph: point lens and capture light, then go from there.

I Iave the 18mmm batis Zeiss and Sony 35mm f1.8 and my favorite Astro have been on my 35mm. Love the compression it brings of the core. I also use it for panos. Small enough to always pack

Used to get audio by a wireless mic untill it cut off a few times and had no chance to reshoot because I was travelling. Gave up on that wireless and now use a Zoom H1 and sync in post! Way better even if I have to set the gain in every eviroment, it's much better. It's easy to sync if you prepare for it. The best part is that I also get the audio from the camera with all the enviroment and my voice in it so I can do some mixing in that way that my voice blends better with the existing ambient sound, yet beeing able to deliver the best sound experience for the viewer! Now I'm already planning a two mic solution for capturing my motorcycle engine sound (on mic placed near the exhaust and the other near (somewhat) the engine), another one for my voice in the helmet and also a bit of the wind when traveling with my motorcycle. Gonna be EPIC!

Keh listings describe which accessories are included. I have never had them not match. Could be worse. I bought an RF 24-105 from an ebay seller who said it was excellent condition. Optically, images looked fine but ther were multiple blemishes on the glass.

i tried to sell a gh5s in excellent condition. mpb offered 375 eur. i didnt send the item as i felt it was ridiculous. now, several months later, i see several gh5s models on their site, lowest price being 814 euro and in "good" (not "excellent") condition. so yeah.. skip the middle man if you can. as a buyer you might get a good deal, but behind the scenes, the people who's camera it was (before selling it to mpb) probably got screwed with what they're willing to pay. oh, also, along that gh5s quote i asked for a quote for a lumix 14-140 3.5-5.6 i, in "good" condition. they offered 130 eur. looking now at their site, the same lens model, in condition also "good", is priced at the lowest at 349 eur. and they only wanted to pay 130. what an insult. i get that they're a company and have expenses, but cmon, not like that. its offensive.

I had a bad experience with mpb, i sold my camera and they asked for my bank details, after giving it to them they returned my camera back to me. Now my bank details are compromised. BEWARE GUYS SCAMMERS!

KEH ripped me off bigtime. They didn't honor their original quote. Sent them mint barley used gear and they said they found stuff wrong with it. The Canon R I sent them was new and unused. They said it had tripod scratch's etc. and other issues. The other two 5D's had less than 5,000 actuations. Better than mint condition as I am fastidious about my gear care. I went with them because I felt they may send me back the gear as they described it. The process was draining, and I felt set up and ripped off. Also, the sales people never got back to me when I called or e-mailed. Terrible experience. They held my gear hostage for about a month ignoring my call and e-mails. I will never use them again.

I was a customer of MPB (Europe) since 2021 and had several dealings with them, buying a load of stuff, with no hassle. However, since the start of this year, they've started to drop the ball. Gear over-rated (a well-used piece junk that was described as 'good'), faulty camera (sticking shutter) and losing a part of my order (sheer incompetence). My latest camera from them has had two replacments and finally I ended up with a camera I am happy with, but still an incomplete order. I'm seriously wondering if I'll do business with them ever again. Regarding KEH, I dealt with them a few times a decade ago and always had good results. I immediately struck a rapport with one of their sales guys and asked for him every time. Gear was always better than described and shipped rapidly. The shipping to me took longer as it had to go to a freight forwarder, but that wasn't KEH's fault. Then there was a five-year gap, but I've bought a few items from them recently and got exactly what I was paying for, no problem.

Ordered a "like new" lens from MPB recently...lens cap was covered with a thick layer of dust and the front lens glass was filthy..was either covered with fingerprints or some kind of residue...i will NEVER buy another item from them ever again

Ah you are near Union Station. i vist Denver once a year and Im going next week. I am hoping to get some street photography done while I'm there. Hows the general attitude towards being photographed? Im concerned about people being angry especially that I am a foreigner...BTW Im staying near the Tech Center.

I'd say both are good places to buy gear from. I've had two warranty claims with MPB. The last one was 2 days before the 6 month warranty expired and thet sent a new item.
