I guess you shoulda raised those front tracks up too!
If you raise them up in the front the bell housing won’t clear the spring, I done it exactly as the caterpillar book says to do it.
Sheww
Calamity Kim on Diesel Creeks Lorain
Yea, she looked like she knew what she was doing
@@uptheholler1501 must have been a good teacher
That’s exactly what it was 😝
Awesome work on the video man
Thanks
Why in the world y'all didn't pressure wash it before you brought it into the shop
We did 😂
The R usually ment it was gas, I know that was true with the D2, R2 was gas
There is a site where you can get almost any books on old CAT equipment
I converted my oil bath air cleaner to accept an air filter too
What did you pay for the hydro -vac and hoses? What year is yours? Drum or disc front brakes? I have a 1968 that I'm restoring for parades, shows and such and was toying with going to 100% manual and bypass the hydro-vac after adjusting my brake pedal ratio
Hoses were probably $20 a piece, the hydravac cost me about $600 to have it rebuilt. I have since sold the truck, but it was a 78 with drum front brakes.
Brings back memories of the one we had in high school
Looks like a meat slicer turned into a hacksaw 🍀🔧💕
Love it!
Keep on at it and then once stripped, then make the decision. When taking on projects like this, there is a big chance something will tell you if it was any good it would still be working. So make the decision to carry on or discard it. I do hope you carry on as there are a great many people like Squatch 253 who would give heaps of help. Just keep chipping away at it and you will eventually see the light at the end of the tunnel.
Is there a economical way to convert that over to electric start?
It is possible, you have to cut a hole in the bell housing, I’ve not looked real close at this way but I know I seen a starter for doing this particular project and it was over $1000 just for it.
@@uptheholler1501 That would be a pretty tough call
Do they make one for jd 2210
I’m not sure, they changed the name of the company, itcquickattach.com/ that’s the current website
Seeing you are a man of God you will be informed on the end of the known world. You must have prayed? Here is your answer, not from me but guided somehow to your video. THE SPIRIT OF TRUTH showed the future in a vision. Part spiritual at times and part full physical at times somewhere else in spacetime while I slept I was taken away. Duplicated quantum entangled Resurrected to the future. For all time is present. I was in a warehouse and next to me was a man who said "THIS MAY BE THE EXTINCTION OF THE HUMAN RACE WE ONLY HAVE ENOUGH FOOD AND WATER FOR THREE DAYS WE NEED TO GET TO THE SOUTHERN STATES" we stood up from sitting on the floor leaning against the wall. As we stood I asked "WHAT YEAR IS IT?" his reply "2030" I then said amazed "THATS RIGHT! LAST YEAR WAS 2029" then I was on the back of a motorcycle and shown an abandoned rural city ransacked with a light pole bent at about 60 degree angle. He was driving and stopped in front of a pet store. It was ransacked too. He went upstairs and I went to a plexiglass clear 3 ft x 3ft approx fish tank. About 8 to 10 inch high & halfway was taller plexiglass to make a waterfall. I was physical because I cupped the water and tasted the water and smelled the dead fish in the water. I yelled out "HEY I FOUND A WATER SOURCE, NOW ALL WE NEED IS SOME FOOD AND WE WILL BE ALL SET!" I then went upstairs to an apartment and it was ransacked. I heard outside a sound as of a drone. It sounded as Ummmmmmmum ummmmmmmum ummmmmmmum. And then I awoke. This was in 2013. A woman who I never met left a reply on someone else's video about her vision. She said same as me and that she was heading south to Texas. She said she seen drones that shot blades. Put the two visions together as well as the other info such as America getting bombed by jet planes from different visions of mine and of hers. And that is the situation we as Christians are in. You will survive with psalm 91. But you have time now to prepare to live off grid. Anyway, don't thank me thank the lord. If you don't believe me, ask God. He will tell you the words are true. As Noah and lot was warned so to your Christian family. Judge in your future society not on the crime but on the evil in the crime when the only law is citizen justice. Use the 3 white crosses upright in a row with a baby blue background for your new flag. Heaven has been proven our skies are pure again THE FATHER SON HOLY GHOST is what it symbolizes
Might be old but it's still got plenty of go
Nice work buddy!!!!
Thanks, still need to find a float for the carb, and a oil bath air cleaner
Thanks for showing the process.
I know that value might be related to where you live but how much did your machine cost? If I locate a project, knowing what is a good deal, and what is not so good, would be really helpful? Was this the only D4 you looked at?
Free firewood just call Justin.
I see in logan co.
It 3 19 here in boone co.madson was 2.99 the other day
It’s up to 3.19 every where now
Hello hows it going
Good job!!
You sir have a rd4 before it was rebadged as the d4 i have the same one 1945 with the same blade i do have a parts brake down with parts numbers for that blade just not sure how to send it your way
Just a heads up, you can put a new spline on that fan with a wire welder and a Dremmel. Weld a glob on the spline, then grind to shape. It’s an easy fix.
I'm looking at a 1941 D4 that the seller says the cam for the injection pump doesn't spin. The pony fired 2 years ago, and the engine will fire on ether. Did you see anything obvious that I could look at? The dozer is pretty reasonable at $1600, but I have no idea when it last operated.
I assume you are talking about the accessory shaft that runs the fuel pump and injection pump. That shaft is ran by the timing gears under the front cover, possible that there could be a key missing out of the gear, so the shaft couldn’t spin. Really hard to say until you just start wrenching on it. Sounds like a pretty good deal, got any pics?
@@uptheholler1501 that sounds like the one. I have not seen it in person. It's rough, but I just want a small dozer for my property. I'm looking at this and a Terratrac. I'll try to message you a couple pictures
I guess YT didn't have a messenger... I can't find it anyway
@@jeepfreak81 yeah I forgot about that
A friend of mine is fixing up a cat 1010 is there any thing around you that someone wanted to sell
Not that I’m aware of. Sorry.
Could be the oil filter housing if it is the pentastar 3.6 Liter engine. If it is a leak.
Was just a check engine light saying the thermostat was malfunctioning.
On my D4 7U, above the drawbar in the rear, the transmission plug is accessible. Just slide the drawbar to the side, should find the plug. Keep at her.
Thanks
I live really close to where you pulled this out - and I’ve known Frankie all my life. I actually had plans to revive this in the past, but never did do it just from being busy. Glad to see that someone is bringing it back to life. Where are you located?
Wow, it’s such a small world isn’t it? I’m down in Logan county, bout 45 minutes south of South Ridge.
@@uptheholler1501 Cool. Dad and I been watching your latest videos. My dad does machine work and has been doing it for 15+ years. He told me to tell you he’d be happy to help you with any machining you need done. We live 15 minutes north of where you picked the dozer up. Let us know if you need anything. Really cool to see this dozer get revived
@user-qu8cf3nd7h I’ve currently taken the pony engine to Givens machine shop, hopefully they be able to help get it lined out, but they said it would be about a month before they could get to it.
@@uptheholler1501 Awesome. Good luck to you sir. Look forward to your videos
@user-qu8cf3nd7h thanks
I’ve never tried it yet but I’ve been told to go to your local dollar store and buy oven cleaner and it will work better than engine degreaser. Easiest way to put electric start on pony is get a starter generator from an old lawn tractor, mount it on fender and run belt to rope grove on pony flywheel.
That’s probably what I will do
I am shocked that the tracks were not seized.
Yeah I was too😅
Anxious to see more.
Hey Justin I always enjoy the Gravely shows and Mow ins. At one time I had about 10 different Gravely tractors. From the old L and L 8 models with the Studebaker engines upto the Professional 10 HP with the Kohler engine. I still have the Pro 10. Great old tractors.
Just started this video. Suggest in the future you remove any plugs and soak cylinders with PB blaster or equiv. You do not want to damage rings. Giving in the best chance. Thx for vid.
Thanks, that was actually done off camera.
Glad to see you doing the brakes up right, talk to any old guy who drove old big trucks with hydra-vac brakes and they will tell you a story of trying to stop when booster fails resulting in rock hard pedal with little braking effect. As far as the air cleaner, did you ever hear the saying, it’s better than the one you didn’t have.
In the long run an easy way to get electric start for pony is a starter/generator from a small engine such as a Koehler if you can find one. I’ve done that and it works great. I’ll be watching for first start.
At 70/80yr old i guess my pin would be a little wobbly too 😅 my hack for the pony motor is a power drill with a pulley from a power steering pump 🤔by a bolt into the bitt and belt apply tension pull trigger start 👌 hopefully you can get that pony whipped and galloping on 🙏
Like that young folks giving the ole vetran machine,s that built the country a chance at continuing there legacy 👌thanks for showing and sharing your journey 🙏✌️💪👍
Looks like a rough task getting that thing to start, but I’m pretty sure it can be done
Oh yeah, it can be done
*promosm* 😂
Why would you turn engine backwards? Are trying to undue the bolt?
You an clearly see I’m not on any bolt, I’m using the shaft for the hydraulic pump, and it doesn’t matter which way you turn the engine as long as you can get full rotation out of it. It was easier to get access with a pipe wrench from the side I was on.
Rd4 has 3 cylinders
Yeah it’s a d4
Didn’t realize till after I checked the serial number
I had 7J354, similar La Plante Choate blade
That’s cool
7J4075 -- 1940 maybe have green OD paint on the first layer.
There are antique mower collectors out there who might be interested in the REO Royal , especially the one running and the not running engines.
