In the long run an easy way to get electric start for pony is a starter/generator from a small engine such as a Koehler if you can find one. I’ve done that and it works great. I’ll be watching for first start.
At 70/80yr old i guess my pin would be a little wobbly too 😅 my hack for the pony motor is a power drill with a pulley from a power steering pump 🤔by a bolt into the bitt and belt apply tension pull trigger start 👌 hopefully you can get that pony whipped and galloping on 🙏
You sir have a rd4 before it was rebadged as the d4 i have the same one 1945 with the same blade i do have a parts brake down with parts numbers for that blade just not sure how to send it your way

The R usually ment it was gas, I know that was true with the D2, R2 was gas
