This was the first movie soundtrack I felt the need to hear again, i.e. to have a recording of. I first saw this movie in the 1980s on a small b&w TV set (my parents weren't big fans of TV at the time, so we didn't have a video recorder). I loved the movie, but I loved the music even more. Some years later, when I had my own TV set but still no video recorder, the movie was scheduled to air again. Within a few hours I improvised an interface between the TV set and my cassette recorder, and I managed to record the intro, the outro, and Cymbeline (the other tracks had too much talking and sound effects over them). I kept this mono and not really high quality recording until I finally found the music on the internet many, many years later.

First one is the one that I literally fell in love with. It is giving not only mystery and fantasy but also romantism and horror at the same time. What a crazily versatile masterpiece! Thanks to Maurice Jarre for this amazing soundtrack.

Telescope is so haunting, and the female voice coming in makes it more so. I feel like this piece more represents the psychedelic period of the 60s.

I first heard this awesome theme on an album entitled GREAT SCIENCE FICTION FILM MUSIC back in the late 1980's and had to see this movie and Wow! What an amazing movie and soundtrack! Dame Diana Rigg and the great Vincent Price at any price and what a fantastic deal it all is! It's like the very best of Hammer and Amicus in one film! Music to my ears.

The Howling & Blow Out are phenomenal films & soundtracks as well.

Bought on blu ray last August great early eighties thriller like dressed to kill.

Blow Out, Dressed to Kill, Body Double and Raising Cain - the most fun thrillers for movie lovers since Hitchcock. Modern revival with Femme Fatale & Passion but not as note perfect as the 80s/90s era.

Correction Miklos Rozsa composed the music for 'Eye Of The needle' not P.D. Still a great soundtrack though! He definitely did 'Trauma' though 'Ruby Rain' - Wow!

What a great soundtrack. I love his 'Trauma' & 'Eye Of The Needle' soundtracks too. He's as good as Morricone but not a recognised.

What’s the genre of this type of music? I want more, and no, not just movie music, films like Novecento, Betty Blue among others, also have it, it this jazzy piano melancholic music.

Blow Out and Carrie are truly two masterpieces. I like the melancholic signature from Mr Donaggio, it sets the right mood to these great movies.

The wonderful film and its congenial score have made and continue to make this cinematic masterpiece a jewel of film history. (Der wunderbarer Film und seine kongeniale Musik ließen und lassen dieses cineastische Wunderwerk zu einem Juwel der Filmgeschichte avancieren!)
