this movie is so sentimental to me, I watched it as a young adolescent what a journey it took me on, I keep coming back to it from time to time, and it still to this day captures me
De Palma admired the composer Bernard Herrmann so much that he used him in his movies Sisters, (shortly after he returned from England, after several years established in that country) and Obsession. He died in 1975 after he finished the music for Obsession and had almost finished the score for Taxi Driver. His next project "Carrie" was already in production, but..unfortunately he passed away at the age of 64. Therefore De Palma had to use Pino Donaggio who's one of Herrmann's most devoted followers to create a similar score for Carrie and so many other De Palma productions. Since 1976 Pino worked with the director in so many of his films, but this one in particular is the perfect example of that attempt for trying to recapture Herrmann,s unique style and I dare to say that he succeed.
Such a great score, but it's so hard not to skip straight to 'Telescope'. A mesmerising piece of music that I can listen to all day long. Waxworks are releasing the full ost on Vinyl in 2023.
Thats what i love about De Palma. If you like Hirchcick she plays with the elements, with more suspense and more violence. Body Double is a mix of veritgo and rear window. Dressed to Kill is Pyscho. Obsession mirrors Vertigo the most though.

this is great news! I've been wanting this on vinyl for such a long time. Now, if only we could get an excellent blu-ray release of the film!

Listening to this without De Palma's images only makes you appreciate Pino's contribution all the more. Excellent score.

Telescope is so haunting, and the female voice coming in makes it more so. I feel like this piece more represents the psychedelic period of the 60s.

Vertigo is a brilliant movie but Body Double is just as good and a lot more fun. Of course if not for Vertigo there would be no Body Double.
